On the first Saturday of each month, Fareham Farmers' Market in West Street offers local produce including organic vegetables, free range eggs, fish, rare breed meats, homebaked bread, cakes and honey from local bees.
The Common is an enormous park located conveniently close to Southampton city centre. Home to the Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre, the area is listed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. At well over 300 acres, it also contains an abandoned racecourse, the site of the town's old gallows, a lake and the country's deepest artesian well.
