The building "At the Golden Angel“, right opposite to the famous cubistic "Black Madonna“ building in Celetná street is one of the famous prominent buildings in the pedestrian zone of Prague's center. Originally there were four buildings, one of them a brewery. In medieval times the extensive basement of the building served for meetings of the Knights Templar. Later, after the buildings were connected and changed into a hotel, it proved to be a very popular destination for Europe's upper class. Among its famous guests were W. A. Mozart, the Queen of Denmark and the Queen of Greece, just to name few. The classicistic facade was added in the 19th century. In 2000, The City of Prague announced a public tender for a long term leasehold and the reconstruction of the building. Copa Company won the tender and started reconstruction in 2005. The building would beturned into a Four Star Residence, a restaurant, bar and a pub with its own brewery. Reconstruction was finished in May 2007.
