Comala. The town was listed in 1988 by the Colima authorities as a historic site and was included in the national “Magic pueblos of Mexico” programme in 2002. Visit the Rangel Hidalgo Museum and the Pueblo Blanco Craft Centre, or simply relax in the gardens in Comala town centre, listening to live mariachi music and enjoying the local food and drink
Barra de Navidad. A charming little town on the sandbank separating Bahía Navidad from Laguna Navidad, situated in the neighbouring state of Jalisco, only 25 minutes to the north of Manzanillo’s Playa de Oro Airport
Turtle Sanctuary “El Tortugario”. Explore the magical world of these sea animals and enjoy the incredible experience of holding a baby tortoise in your hands
 Sea Salt Museum. Visit the museum situated 30 minutes south of Manzanillos, and learn about the process of salt production, dating from the end of the 18th century
Gastronomy
Mexican gastronomy is one of the richest and most varied in the world. The flat maize “torta” is the staple food in Mexican cuisine, to which are added grilled meats served with spicy sauces, salads, pulses and a wide variety of delicious fruit.
Other delicious examples of Mexican gastronomy are octopus, squid and prawns served either grilled, fried in batter, marinated in lemon or simply with a salsa, not forgetting the tasty, freshly-caught lobsters found all along the coast.
Shopping
Manzanillo offers many interesting shopping opportunities due to its proximity to Guadalajara, the arts and crafts capital of Mexico.
Plaza Manzanillo and Plaza Salahua shopping centres are within 15 minutes of the hotel, with a wide range of stores. Also in the vicinity are several “tianguis” markets selling many Mexican crafts and products, including silver and glassware, pottery serving dishes, candles and clothes.
The two most popular “tianguis” markets in the area are Santiago Tianguis, a 10- minute taxi ride from the hotel and open on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Miramar Tianguis with a large variety of hand-crafted items, a 15-minute taxi ride from the hotel and open from 9 a.m. 6 p.m.
