Description of the area

The Canary Island archipelago comprising 7 islands is one of Spain's natural paradises. Each island is different from the others, but they are all united by a single spirit and their beautiful beaches.

This volcanic archipelago was inhabited by the Guanches, from which the first Canary Island settlers descended. The word Guanche is used nowadays to refer to the inhabitants of the whole archipelago.

The entire island of Fuerteventura has been declared a Biosphere Reserve, and of the 7 islands, it is the one with the longest coastline.

Its water and climate make it possible to swim all year round. It is also worth highlighting its impressive dunes, which coexist with the erosion of the volcanoes and layers of lava.

The varied food offering includes:

· exquisite fish dishes accompanied by Mojo, a sauce made with traditional Canary Island spices
· the famous papas arrugadas (Canary wrinkly potatoes) with mojo picón sauce
· sancocho, a fish stew typical of the Canary Islands
· Majorero cheese, varieties of different flavour goat's cheeses
· pejines, often served as tapas, these are dried fish cooked on the grill or flambéed
· Tropical fruit
