Cristal Distinction

The Cristal risk management programme was developed by the Cristal International Standards organisation and its Check Safety First division, specifically aimed at the tourism industry, and ascertains levels of high quality in accordance with national and international regulations.

The programme takes place in the hotels of the Barceló Group and is based on the protocols and controls of a checklist with more than 250 itemised points, which are performed according to guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Its objective is to reduce the main health risks associated with used water and the prevention of Legionnaires’ disease (Aqua Check), prepared food (Food Check), the hotels’ accommodation services (Room Check), safety (Safety Check), crisis management due to climate phenomena such as hurricanes (Crisis Check), the cleanliness of swimming pools (Pool Check), fire prevention (Fire Check) and their ecological and sustainable tourism practices (Eco Check).



EarthCheck is the certification that promotes sustainable tourism, which is based on working without harming the environment, and which features an action plan for a series of global industry objectives. We assume responsibility with regard to protecting the environment, by taking actions that provide benefits today and remain in place tomorrow.

All staff we train at the hotel must contribute to:

· Use of biodegradable chemical products

· Respecting plants and animals

This programme operates as an independent company, as it manages its own benchmarking and certification standards and uses independent auditors.
