    “Always Paradise But A Few Room Issues”

    I have a timeshare here and love the place but this last time was a bit annoying. Minor stuff but no one wants to deal with nonsense on vacation! First my bathroom sink was clogged and slow. Called front desk and yes they sent maintenance but when I returned to my room, the sink was now leaking from the pipes all over the floor. The guy didn't tighten the pipes enough. Annoying. Then my card to swipe didn't work a total of 5 times. Every time I had to go downstairs and wait in line to get it fixed. It's not like each trip back and forth was 2 minutes. They told me the first time it was my phone messing it up but the other 4 times the room card was no where near my phone. Finally someone came up and said the door scanner needed new batteries. Still didn't work after that. Luckily I had a suite so I had two doors.... but again just annoying crap and I did complain to the manager. My family had no issues with their rooms and aside from that the place is beautiful and clean and the staff is always amazing and kind. I will still go back.

    “Relaxing family vacation”

    Biggest complaint is lack of effort by entertainment staff. Rooms small for family of 4 with inadequate storage. Food and resort were wonderful. Beach clean. Pool area could use someone picking up stray cups more often. Drinks are made with top shelf liquor. All restraunts serve excellent food. Staff very helpful. Would go back.

    “Second visit”

    This was our second trip to the Happy Island and to the recently renovated Barcelo. There were many upgrades to the resort from our original stay (2015 - Grand Occidental). The customer service is outstanding. Every staff member went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. I was a little disappointed that they did away with the Beach Party, but we went to the Circaribe show (unsure of name - it's an acrobatic show) and it was excellent. They provided table service and the show was interactive and very entertaining. We didn't stay long enough to go to a show every night, but I was very impressed with the show we did watch. We took our 4 children on this trip (ages 12, 9, 6, and 18 months). They had an excellent time, but we never made time to take advantage of the kids entertainment. They had a nightly "mini disco" for them with music and games and the Kids Club. I never made time to take them to those things as they had a great time splashing in the pool or on the beach. My oldest wasn't thrilled about the lack of complimentary wifi, but it did help add to some quality family time. The resort is very family-friendly and is truly welcoming. We will definitely be returning for our 3rd and more visits in the future!

    “Barcelo aruba Royal Level worth every $”

    Royal level is wonderful and worth every S. Music by the pool needs lots of work. Same songs every day on continuous play. Bartenders at swim up bar were wonderful. Buffet needs an upgrade. Buffet food was terrible.

    “GREAT PLACE with GREAT LOCATION and GREAT STAFF”

    The best part of the Occidental Aruba is the great staff members that they have and that have been there for many years. Where do I begin -- Veronica and Hazel have the Royal Club covered and I totally agree that the Royal Club is worth it. In the restaurants and bars, you have Angela, Tony, Michael, Paris, Meriam, and Steve taking care of you. The food in the Italian restaurant is terrific along with the great experience. I suggest making one night out on the patio with the sunset at 7pm. The Royal club dining room was very good -- it could use a few more menu selections but it was nice that there was a different chef special each night. The desserts in the Royal dining room were incredible!! There really aren't any bad rooms at this hotel. Even if you aren't on the pool side, each and every room can see the water and what beautiful water it is!! The beach is great. The pool is great -- except that they have started allowing (or did allow) floats and diapers in the pool -- not a good thing!! We will be back but I hope they pay more attention to the pool.
