    “Bugs, Noisy, Fire Alarms, Some Unresponsive Staff”

    Ok, let's start with the good: 1. Breakfast was more than sufficient and wait staff did a good job of keeping tables cleared. 2. The spa was truly wonderful, and the package that included sauna, scrub and massage was a nice way to end our Egypt trip 3. Once the tour operator and lead manager got involved, we were moved to better rooms--quieter and cleaner. The not so good: 1. Pyramid view is what is advertised but you have to be on one of the top floors facing the right direction to be able to see the top portion of said monuments. 2. Multiple bugs in the bathroom upon checkin and when reported to the desk, nothing was done until our tour operator got involved. 3. Said tour operator had to call us to have us hand carry the cell down to reception as they were not answering his phone calls 4. Noise level from the street was so bad that even with ear plugs we couldn't sleep. New room was much better as the window had been double window, double paned. Plus, it was on a side with a less busy street and up one more floor. 5. Fire alarm went off at 10 pm in the room and the maintenance guy "fixed it." At 3 am or so it went off again and no one would answer the phone at reception. Needless to say, the next day of touring was more challenging than it would have been if we had been rested. The facility itself had a certain charm and the internet was sporadic but acceptable for brief moments of time. The age of the structure definitely showed and while some service providers were excellent, others didn't seem to care much. Tired and worn, the hotel itself still held onto a gracious, albeit fading ambiance. How often will you go to Egypt? How rested do you want to be? Are there better options? For us, while the hotel didn't ruin the Egyptian experience for us, it definitely was a low point of our trip. Regardless, go to Egypt. It was amazing, regardless of aforementioned issues. We never felt unsafe and the vast majority of folks were good and kind. (Ignore the salesmen, as hard as that is. And, in Luxor, keep your head down and feet moving. Cairo was much less intense.)

    “Affordable”

    Room was nice, clean on arrival. The hotel staff was very friendly as well. Nice view of the pyramids from the bar/restaurant on the roof. The only issue we had was with service at the bars. The wait staff didn't speak great English (Not an issue, just a statement) and didn't quite understand our orders. My wife ordered a martini, and we got a glass with a shot of vermouth and a glass of ice, no vodka. As well, they weren't very busy so there wasn't always a bartender/waiter available. Overall, it was a Great hotel. We enjoyed it and it was very affordable.

    “Average”

    The rooms needs some serious refurbishing but otherwise is comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights and everything was fine in general. Cleanliness needs a bit more improvement though. We had an early check out and requested for breakfast boxes. We were initially told by the receptionist that we didn't tell them about it so they didn't prepare. His attitude is a bit rude telling us to just eat at the restaurant. The reason for the request is because we have to catch an early flight. I insisted that we did tell them about it. Later on, his coworker came and said that we do have that request. Our booking includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfast had hot meals, bread, cereal, salad and fruits. Dinner was set meals at an Italian Restaurant. The service at the Italian Restaurant was pretty good. Meals were ok also. But don't expect the food to be really Italian style. I'd say they're more of a Egyptian Italian food. One of our biggest concern would be WIFI WASN'T FREE! Extra Note: We were able to purchase the Egypt Orange sim card with data. If you have an idea on how much GB you would use, better to purchase it all at once and have it registered rather than refilling the credits once used up. Some other places in Egypt doesn't speak good English and the user menu of the service provider is in Arabic.

    “Good Hotel”

    It is in a main street.Close to Pyramids Area. Ask for bigger room size. Food in hotel was good.Reasonable. You need to pay one hour for wifi. Has swimming pool and relaxing 8th floor. Staff are helpful and ATM inside hotel.

    “NOT worth the money & does NOT live up to expectations!!”

    We stayed here 2 nights and chose this hotel due to its location which was great, close to the pyramids, you can see them from the rooftop of the hotel. Another thing that was nice was the pool and having a drink by the pool on the roof. The internet was working okay in the room, some times it wasn't working at all. However, the room did not live up to expectations. First of all, we chose a 2 single bed room and paid for a superior room, we got one kingsize bed instead. Okay, not a big deal maybe. However, the sheet was stained as if someone had dropped tomato sauce on it, dried in tomato stains!!! Absolutely horrible! The room being superior was very small, one could barely fit one person walking around the bed. The pictures on booking.com and here are not true, maybe this hotel looked like this 5 years ago, but it does not anymore. The water in the sink and in the bathtub in the bathroom didnt disappear down the drain, and we had to tell reception 3 times (!!) before anything happened. In the end it turned out that it was as simple as the cleaning staff had closed the sinks from under the counter somehow and not bothered opening them before leaving the room. Very impractical... The reception staff also didnt want the maintenance staff to go to our room and fix this problem without us being in the room. This is very worrying as it gives the impression they don't trust their staff. Regarding restaurants in the hotel; we had to wait for a very long time before we got our food! We ordered pizza the first night and we could actually see that the pizza chef didnt even start cooking our pizzas before 30 minutes had gone by!!! The same thing happened when we tried their other restaurant the second night, we had to wait a really long time and everything we asked for was a huge deal. Like drinks, we ordered the same drinks (mojito) as we had ordered by the pool the day before. What we received after a long time of waiting in the restaurants was NOT the same drinks as the day before! Its as if there are different people working and not following the same drink receipts. Or if we asked for extra bread, it took a really long time and asking 2 persons before we got it. Really low quality issues. I read here previously that upon checkout, people were told that there were drinks missing from the minibar even though they had not taken anything from it, but still had to pay for it. So i was prepared for this to happen. And this is exactly what happened. The receptionist asked if we took anything and we said no. He still wanted to check with his staff so a cleaning person went to our room and check and called back to say 2 drinks were missing. I got really angry of course and said we didnt take anything. This seems to be a normal problem because he believed us right away, and i had to write that we didnt take anything and sign it and we left. But its such a disrespect to the guest as well as a low budget hotel problem. Regarding the security staff in the hotel, absolutely ridiculous. our guide had to pay them off for them to let us go with him without creating a huge scene there. This seems to be typical for this hotel specifically we learned!! Also the beds were as hard as sleeping on the floor!!! For those that want to know, there was a lot of noise from traffic coming from the window, but this didnt bother us personally. Before we came to the hotel, we called them maybe 10 times without a reply. Even our hotel receptionist where we were staying by the Red Sea tried calling for us, at different numbers that he got, but no reply. We also wrote a message on booking.com that we want early check in and help with transfer from the airport, and got NO reply. We also sent them an email- and NO reply!!! We got no explanation to this except a "was there a problem?", when we told them at reception upon arrival. Obviously they ignored the contact attempts... This hotel definitely does not deserve the high price they have nor all the stars they have. We would not stay here again.
