    “Good Quality but All Inclusive Confusing”

    We booked the Royal Level or Premium Club with a sea view room on an all inclusive basis. On checking in we were disappointed to find out that the "All Inclusive" classification did not actually include everything. The main disappointment was that the A La Carte Restaurant was not included. If we wanted to eat there we would be charged 50% of the cost. The same applied to the Sports bar and we were a little confused as to whether some of the other bars were included or not. We complained about this and the girl on the Premium check in desk pointed us to the website and the definition of what was in the "all inclusive" offer. Sure enough, the a la carte restaurant was not there. We protested that this was not obvious on the website and we had assumed that all inclusive means what it says. There was certainly no mention anywhere on the website about having to pay 50% in any of the restaurants or bars. We also established that room service was not included in the deal. By this time our conversation had become somewhat "tense". A Manager was called and the misunderstanding was explained. She offered us one complimentary meal in the a la carte restaurant. We accepted this but made our dissatisfaction clear. We were taken to our room. This is a very large resort and caters for just about every type of clientele. You can go self catering, half board or all inclusive. The appropriate wrist band is attached to you at check-in. Our room in one of the Premium Club sections was clearly designed for a party of 4 on a self catering basis. Cooking facilities, sufficient chairs, beds and tableware was all there. It was far too big for the 2 of us. OK, nothing wrong with extra space but the furniture and overall design was a bit minimalist. We would have appreciated a bit more comfort rather than space. We stayed there for the night and the next morning we had breakfast at our Premium buffet restaurant "La Ancla". It was nicely designed and the food was good. Unfortunately lunch is not served there and dinner is also buffet style. We then went to explore and quite soon we found another "Premium Club" area in its own enclave. It had its own pool and pool bar and a much better sea view than our room. We went to reception and asked if we could move to this area. To cut a long story short, we ended up in a 2 bedroom apartment in this area at no extra charge. Happy days - but why were we not located there originally?! We enjoyed the rest of our stay although the weather was not great. We used the Pizzeria for lunch which was fine and La Ancla for breakfast and dinner. The staff were excellent. There is a large theatre for evening entertainment. Unfortunately (for us) it seemed to be aimed at families with children (of which there were many) so although we looked in each evening we did not stay. Overall I would say this. It is a good quality resort but it is trying to be all things to everybody and this makes the product on offer somewhat confusing. We have been to many all inclusives in the Caribbean which are, truly, all inclusive. It makes you realise how much easier it is for Sandals, whose product is aimed solely at couples and where everybody is there on the same all inclusive basis, to satisfy their customers. European all inclusives do not seem to appreciate this and try to get extra revenue from their guests whenever they can. There are exceptions. Barcelo would do well to look at the Ikos Olivia in Halkidiki (Greece) which we visited last year. It is properly all inclusive and the quality is excellent. The weather was not great so we were not interested in going on the beach which was vast but not very inviting. This was fortuitous because there was some work going on there and it was closed. We had no prior notification of this. There was a distinct lack of information in the room about what was going on and where. Normally one would expect a directory of services giving this kind of information and perhaps a daily activity sheet. Our booking included a free session at the Spa. As far as we could see, the Thalasso Spa was at least half a mile away around the bay in another Barceló hotel so we did not bother going there. We did enjoy the daily stretching exercises by the pool with Daniel. Nobody told us about this either - we just happened to be in the right place at the right time! Just about sums it up really. Could be so much better.

    “Dissapointing”

    It was just an OK experience Not at all what we were expecting A pretty soulless place - big Resort that does nothing to connect you with anybody I would never ever again go to a "Resort" complex Restaurants were like a Zoo - hundreds of small children but thankfully we had one restaurant which was just "OK"

    “Excellent choice”

    Everything was excellent. The time of the year I've chosen to spend my holiday in there wasn't so busy. I've had access to a private swimming pool as a Premium customer. The SPA is also very good, I recommend few hours in there if it's too cloudy to enjoy other outdoor activities. The service at the restaurant was impeccable and the food was great too.

    “Fantastic holiday”

    Staff really friendly, food excellent, good location. We would definitely go back, I think that says it all. Caletta de Fuste is a lovely area, unfortunately the beach was being redeveloped and not accessible

    “Another visit to our favorite hotel, on our favorite island.”

    Just back from another great stay, the management are always looking for areas in which to make improvements and their dedication to customer satisfaction, and their resulting achievements are there for all to see & enjoy. We have been 3 times in the last year and each time they have brought a smile to our faces with the little touches that make this place so special. The food which is always excellent, but the chefs manage to improve on each visit, the staff, so hard working, are a true asset & a joy to be with. Too many to mention them all, but John, Marian, Dennise, Carlos, Yessica, Eva & Ava, are absolute stars!! As the English say, "the proof is in the pudding", so don't hesitate get it booked and enjoy!!. So keep up with what you are so very good at, and see you all again in November. Peter & Chris

    “Excellent choice”


    Everything was excellent. The time of the year I've chosen to spend my holiday in there wasn't so busy. I've had access to a private swimming pool as a Premium customer. The SPA is also very good, I recommend few hours in there if it's too cloudy to enjoy other outdoor activities. The service at the restaurant was impeccable and the food was great too.
