    “What the Doctor ordered”

    Went through Jet2 for a week to wind down and relax after looking after a sick granddaughter. The stay really worked. Did nothing other than sunbathe and enjoy the excellent food and premium drinks. We booked only a week before traveling and were conscious that this was the school holidays hence the "adults only" booking. We had a standard double room in what is now known as Royal Level. This room was comfortable with plenty of storage and a super king size bed. The room and bathroom were clean and kept clean by the excellent staff. If you wanted you could have an included nightly turndown service which was good for the chocolates and changing of the towels. We were on an all inclusive basis which had tea and coffee facilities in the room and a fridge stocked with drinks which were included in the package but not replaced. The adults only areas were accessed by the room card. ROyal level guests could access the family areas but families couldn't access the Royal levels. Sun beds in the adult areas were well spaced and padded. There were two main adult areas, one around two pools and another on a raised terrace. Royal level guests could access three restaurants including the main self service used by all. The other two were a Canarian which had themed nights Tuesdays to Saturdays and one exclusive to Royal level guests. We tried all three and whilst the food was great in them all, we did prefer the exclusive one. Our only gripe is in relation to the "show cooking" in the adults only restaurant. Guests have to queue while one chef uses two griddle plates to cook meat or fish while you wait. During our stay the chef cooked for only two guests at a time meaning a long wait for those behind. The griddles were big enough to cook for four or five people at a time which would ease frustration particularly on Sunday and Monday when the Canarian is closed. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would certainly recommend it to others.

    “Great Easter Getaway”

    Spent 5 nights at this lovely hotel, we stayed in the Adult only area which is something we have never done in the past and something we will be doing again. From the Cava reception, attentive staff, lovely food, proper cocktails hand made from premium spirits to the lovely waiter who brings cold fresh juice by the pool. The hotel is clean and room service twice a day - There is a 20 min walk along the beach to a shopping area with the normal Spanish type shops with some nice small tapas bars overlooking the sea. The beach is stunning and so clean. The hotel is spread over 4 levels heading down to the beach so take water with you in the heat, there is a small shopping centre at the bottom if you forget. The spa was being refurbished but we were offered free vouchers to use at the nearby resort. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful, The buffet food had plenty of choice each day, although would properly be a little on the same side if here for a longer period of time. A couple of issues, the themed restaurant was poor, we went on mexican night and didn't enjoy this at all, we would have preferred a a la carte choice of restaurant, the other niggle was the hot food on the buffet was luke warm most days but the array of salads, fresh cooked meats or fish made up for it. Will definitely consider this hotel again for a short break.

    “Second visit”

    Wife and I spent an enjoyable 8 days mid-late March. Booked direct on "Black Friday" in November, we took up an offer to stay in one of the third floor suites. This was our second visit, being 18 months after the first and therefore our first chance to see the new terrace and experience the changes in restaurant provision. Checked in online and we were very quickly into our room, despite arriving before 2pm. Suite was excellent, with two wardrobes, large Jacuzzi style bath and walk in shower. It took a few requests to get the TVs reprogrammed to receive English channels and the DVD player didn't even have a scart lead until we asked for one! Mini bar and water were replenished daily. We enjoyed lovely views and the sunrises. Only complaint was noise from the adjacent Playa bar terrace area; an hour after it closed at 11:30pm. I was told by reception, there "was nothing they could do about it". The bar in the new terrace had opened as numbers at the complex increased. A great view over to the beach, although we did not go back to the terrace after the first afternoon. New wind proof sheeting, better lighting and roofing have been fitted to the Atlantico restaurant area, which was never overly busy. Staff very attentive and able to understand my attempts at the Spanish language. Albeit they all seem to have a good grasp of English and German. There are signs in the lift warning about busy times in the Atlantico and I do wonder what it would be like when the complex is full? Queues for the hot food could be better organised. Why people want to put barely warm food on their plates and then stand in the way of others whilst they wait for meat to be cooked is beyond me? The issue of "hot" food and sameness of the menu has been commented on many times and I didn't find any changes or improvement from my last visit. Service from the pool bar was excellent and we appreciated the ice cream coffee drinks and fruit brought to us when sat around the pool. The pool attendant does remove towels when people leave the pool, although I did witness people putting towels down and a book on their bed before the attendant arrived at 10am and then not reappearing until after lunch! I witnessed one self styled "regular" put stuff on three different beds and then disappear! We tried the new restaurant on 4/8 evenings (it is closed Sunday & Monday). It was never busy, and the food was very good; service with a smile. Two fixed starters (one fish), a choice of two mains (one fish) and a fixed sweet. Washed down with fizz and wine. Menus are numbered and you can check what is available from reception. On our last evening we ate in the main hotel buffet, where there is a vast selection including Asian and Italian, all well cooked and the hot plates manage to keep the food warm! Service in the Bar Verde was excellent as always. The Pool Bar was not open in the evenings when we were there (despite being told it would be open until 10:30pm), so on our last evening service dropped as the guys were rushed off their feet! Spent time on the beach (still populated by wrinkly nude Germans), those with clothes on are very interesting in discussing Brexit! Walked up Pico de la Zarza and arranged a morning on the Magic Life yacht, saw dolphins and the wife went mad in the speed boat! Mixed weather, in that part of most days was cloudy, but when the sun came out it was very hot. One afternoon of heavy rain, enjoyable talking to a German couple wrapped up in the Pool Bar! Transfers were excellent (one hour), we booked direct via Viva Transfers. 88 euro each way to be met at the airport and transfers both ways in our own personal mini bus! Grateful for the late check out, which meant we could stay in the room until 2pm (usually 12) and then had an hour to have lunch before our pick up at 3pm. All in all, a very good holiday that lived up to our expectations. So much so that we have already booked to come back in September and we are bringing the kids. Don't worry they are over 18! Hasta pronto!

    “lovely holiday in Barcelo”

    staff are very helpful especially bar and restaurant staff and great service overall. Pool areas are well maintained with a choice of 2 that are adults only. wifi was not great and limited entertainment.

    “Excellent Hotel would return in a heart beat.”

    Excellent staff very attentive in both the restaurants and by the pool. Rooms were clean and tidy and service regulary. Facilities were really good though spa wasnt open for our visit. Only 1 litle negative would be more regular nightly entertainment but thoroughly enjoyed our stay
