    “Awesome week!!”

    Wonderful vacation in Mexico! We were able to instantly relax as soon as we got there. All of the staff is so friendly and helpful. The meals are so good and the staff is so welcoming. We always looked for Alonso Ruiz and his assistant David in the dining room as they provided exceptional hospitality type service to us and every other guest dining there as well. We would definitely love to return!!

    “Solid Choice for a Holiday”

    This was our first visit to Occidental Nuevo Vallarta via Sunwing. We are a family of four with children six and nine. In my opinion this is a 5 star facility. Out hotel room/the hotel itself and the grounds are in excellent condition with maintenance being performed on an ongoing basis. The hotel room was clean, bug free, and had a very quiet (you don’t hear it) air conditioning unit that worked very well. You can also get a roll a way cot for free. The hotel has various bars, buffet, smaller snack bars, three restaurants (you need to make an appointment and have pants), gift shop, photo service, etc… There are a lot of things, to many to mention. We ate the majority of the time at the buffet (morn, lunch, and dinner) which was getting somewhat tiresome. The food on the site is above average quality. I heard that the restaurants are better. The beach at this location is awesome. It is all sand with no rocks. The waves are pretty good for boogie boarding. Daily activities are constant and free. Dance lessons, organized beach volleyball, organized water polo/volleyball, free boogie board usage, etc... The hotel does not have free internet which I was not happy about considering I was under the assumption it had free wifi in the lobby. Apparently this has been discontinued. The wifi charge is around $40 per week. It should be noted though I have visited other hotels and the wifi had been very erratic, undependable, and flaky. The wifi you pay for is very good and there is good coverage around the resort. There is a mall within a five minute walk of the hotel. It has things like Subway, Domino’s Pizza, play gym, Starbucks, laundromat, etc… There is also a marina very close by as well. We would go back to this location.

    “Royal Club - not recommended”

    March 11-18 we stayed as Royal Club guests. Our room was beautiful, spacious and comfortable however we were very disappointed in the Royal Club dining experience. The food was average and service was very slow. Our main complaint would be the floor plan of the Royal Club dining area. There is a bar beside the dining tables and we saw many guests gather there and enjoy themselves very loudly with people dining right beside them. This was very annoying to anyone dining in the Royal Club. They need to partition off the bar area from the dining space. Overall the extra expense for Royal was not worth it at this location. As many people have indicated, staff are exceptional and we also enjoy this resort. I agree with the writer who said the buffet has the best food. We also thought the entertainment has really improved since our first visit ten years ago.

    “12 Days in March at the Occidental in PV”

    This place was fantastic. Very updated modern facilities, manicured grounds, very clean. The best layout of a resort I have seen for awhile, no stairs to trudge to the beach, everything was in very quick walking distance. Excellent food, service was outstanding. Staff were really really great everywhere, buffet, beach restaurant, pool bar, lobby bar and cleaning staff. We heard it was a time share resort but saw no evidence of this other than people staying there told us they were staying in a time share, and there was a pool we could not go into. But whatever. I'm really rather surprised at any bad reviews of this place. We had no evidence of bad service or bad food, or bad anything. I spoke to another couple from Alberta and the lady was complaining so much I told her that maybe the negativity was bringing more negativity into her life. She didn't like that. I feel sorry for her spouse. So here it is: ROOMS: We asked for a room on the ground floor as they have little patios and it’s so extremely convenient to get to everything. The Front desk clerk tried and after a few minutes of looking had no problem finding us a room that we preferred, and it was great. Good size bathrooms, nice size rooms with a fridge and coffee maker, table and a couple chairs. The fridge was stocked with water, cold pop and Corona daily, as well as nuts and orange juice. Some drawers for your clothes and a nice closet with a weird door that slid open so that you could see the person in the shower from the bedroom if you had the closet closed. We didn't get a King bed but you could push the two doubles together or cuddle. The beds were firm and super comfortable. Our Cleaning lady worked very hard, and always had our room done around 10:30 am. We were extremely happy with the location of this room, I would never have picked one up on the top floors. FOOD: Excellent. Never had anything I didn't like at the buffet, and the a la carte's were amazing. My favorite was the Italian. Japanese was really good as well as the Mexican. You could book the A la carte's all at once for the week and didn't have to get up at 7 am to fight for a spot. Nice. The little snack bar dealio and beach restaurant were a change from the buffet and were delicious. The beach restaurant had a menu that you ordered from, and chips and guacamole and homemade fresh salsa were brought to the table immediately when you arrived. Yum. BEACH: Very nice, never had to fight for a chair, and we usually didn't get out there till 10 ish. Beach service by Angelos (Angie) was fantastic and she just never stopped. She brought us drinks even when we didn't ask. (yes, we did tip) but still. It was excellent service out there. The pool bar guys were also excellent at serving us. The lobby bar staff would come and wait on you while you sat, which was nice, we didn't even really have to get up to the bar. (yes we tipped) OTHER STUFF: They had bikes that you could take out on your own after noon (before noon there were bike tours), and we biked to the Rui hotels from the Occidental a few times on a really nice bike path. Lots of activities going on all day - pool, yoga, Zumba, water polo, kayaking, paint lessons, etc… Wi-Fi - I knew that we had to pay for Wi-fi, (my sister stayed there last yr and there was no charge, my understanding is that it got bought out by Barcelo and no more free wi-fi.) Personally I think $12.00/device/day is pretty steep. However, you could go across the street to starbucks and get the wifi password off your receipt if you buy a coffee. We were there 12 days and the login and password did not change. The only thing I would like to see at the Occidental is that they offer CANADIAN TV Sports Channel in the lobby bar. There were a lot of Canadians there and they only had US programming. And the Oilers are in the playoffs! Otherwise, all around this resort was great. Great Staff, great service, great food, great location. I would return for sure.

Die Pool sauber, der Strand mit eigenen Liegen und Service, Palmen spenden etwas Schatten, Gym ist eher klein aber mit sehr guten Maschinen ausgestattet. Kleine Boutique mit was immer man braucht zu normalen Preisen. negativ: keine Zimmer mit balkon. Nur einige wenige Zimmer haben eine kleine Terrasse. Auch störte mich die ständige musikberieselung beim Essen oder am Pool. Der handtuchservice begann etwas spät und endete eher früh.
