    “Perfect”

    What an awesome resort. Food was excellent and the service Second to None. Nightly entertainment was awesome/always lots of chairs at the beach and hardly any kids on the resort. You've gotta go to Bucerias also, 135 Peso's by cab one way. Only had one problem... my wife painted a frame at the paint booth and they said that they'd be back tomorrow before we left so she could pick it up (needs 24 hours to dry) and they never showed prior to 1030.

    “Not a family oriented resort ”

    My husband and I recently stayed there for 5 nights with our four kids and my parents. The resort is modern, nice and clean, as well as, friendly staff. However, much smaller than other resorts we've stayed at in Mexico. The buffet is very small and very limited on choices. Breakfast, lunch and dinner choices were very repetitive. Our waiter, ERIK, was AWESOME! He was very attentive and always on point with our drinks and cleanup. He even brought our plates to the table when he saw us walking back from the buffet. He made breakfast and lunch time very enjoyable. We made reservations at a few sit down restaurants but the times were very limited. It was either too early to too late. The nightly entertainment was ok. It was a lot of dancing. Our rooms had a partial ocean view overlooking the pool; no balcony & it felt very tight. The pool area was nice but no swim up bar and water was super cold. Only one regular and a shallow depth pool. There was one other pool that was exclusive to royal members only. The beach was very nice. We enjoyed it the most. Last but not least, there were mostly senior citizens at this resort. Not very family oriented to a younger family with kids ranging in age from 2-14 years. If given the choice, we would most likely not return.

    “Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta. Sat Feb 4 -Sat Feb 18, 2017”

    First Club Rooms. Arrived in the evening. Buffet stays open until 10:30pm. Nice room. A bowl of fruit, a safe, lots of hangers and drawers, a bar fridge, beer and water, 4 bottles of booze and coffee maker. First Club/Royal Club pool. Augustin the bartender was fantastic. Los Olivos - Italian and Mediterranean ala carte. Great presentation. Great food. Tiramisu for dessert. Dress code is in effect. Had most lunches at Las Haciendas which is a snack bar during day. Lots of choices. Typical snack food. The buffet is not overly large but the layout is effective. Quick to refill a tray. Many food options at every meal. Mexican ala carte Las Haciendas for dinner. Good food. Great service. Have vanilla ice cream with Kahlua for dessert. Casual dress is allowed. Japanese ala carte called Teppanyaki (?). Restaurant is new. Ask for the correct side when reserving. One side is only sushi and seafood. The other side is Japanese “show” steak house. Dress code is in effect. The security staff are excellent. Always alert and help other staff whenever they can. They pick up after lazy guests too !! If you come to this Occidental on a tour package, you can upgrade to their hybrid Royal Club for about $40 US a day per person. Had dinner at the Royal Club. Great view of the resort and Bahia de Banderas. Great sunsets. Great food presentation and it tasted wonderful. Raphael made a show of Spanish Coffee. The Spa - massage was fantastic. The beach is wonderful. You can walk for miles. Not many vendors. Always a breeze starting late in the morning - until sunset. Sunsets are incredible. Resort grounds are very clean and well groomed. There was some entertainment every night. The Mexican folklorico presentations were wonderful. The First Club had a private area on the beach with lounge chairs and beds. The First Club itself is clean and well run. It is physically smaller than many other First Clubs. At about 5 o’clock it was jammed. Comments. • When you get your reservation slip for the ala cartes, please read the rules. Los Olivos and Teppanyaki have a dress code. • Few rooms have balconies. Some ground level rooms with private patios. • Took a taxi to and from old town Puerto Vallarta. Good day. • Visited the mall across the street. A bit pricey but you are a captive audience. • The market in the mall does not accept US dollars. Get pesos to shop. There is an ATM at the mall entrance to the market. The other stores will take US.

    “2nd stay, questionable return”

    This was our second stay here. We really like the smaller size and the great beach! However, this time we upgraded to the royal level and requested a room on the 1st floor. We were told the resort was full, but if we came back on Monday, three days later, they would have a room for us. In the meantime, we didn't even get a royal level room. We got 2 queen beds pushed together with a memory foam over the crack in the middle. When we went back on Monday, we were told they would work on getting us another room. After two more days of a total run-a-round, the girl on the 7th floor told us she had a room reserved for us and to come back in 2 hours to exchange keys. When we got back, we were told that room was no longer available, that the people in there had a late checkout. This was a total lie because we went down to that room and talked to the people that were just moving into that room. They requested a room change that morning and got it right away. We eventually did get a 1st floor room, but not before wasting a ton of time trying to get it. We really liked this resort and had plans to return here, but sure didn't appreciate being lied to and all the hassle we had to go through to change rooms, especially paying extra for royal level. Very disappointing!

    “Strandurlaub”

    Positiv ist das freundliche Personal, sauber und gepflegte Anlage, Zimmer geräumig, essen sehr gut und auch die Präsentation der buffets ist sehr gelungen. Die Pool sauber, der Strand mit eigenen Liegen und Service, Palmen spenden etwas Schatten, Gym ist eher klein aber mit sehr guten Maschinen ausgestattet. Kleine Boutique mit was immer man braucht zu normalen Preisen. negativ: keine Zimmer mit balkon. Nur einige wenige Zimmer haben eine kleine Terrasse. Auch störte mich die ständige musikberieselung beim Essen oder am Pool. Der handtuchservice begann etwas spät und endete eher früh.
