    “Birthday & 33rd Wedding Anniversary”

The staff, food, libations and entertainment were excellent! They made my birthday and our anniversary special with all the extra touches. I also would like to specifically mention Ms. Carolina Barett Metiguer in the public relations department for recommending a nail salon where I was pampered. She arranged a taxi to pick us up and drop us off. Thank you for all your attention. Evelyn H.

    “Valentine's Day week Family Vacation”

We had an amazing first experience at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. Me, my husband, my mom and our 2 kids ( 3 and 5 yrs old) stayed there for 6 days during Valentine's day weeek 2020. Our building faced the kids' pool and the Bar Bambu where we enjoyed Odalis, Leonidas and Jennyiel's company, their amazing mojitos, dirty monkeys, kiddie piña coladas and palomitas de maiz (pop corn). They were all very nice to us, and they made sure that we always had what we were looking for. The kids sized bar was a hit, we were happy to have that area for the little ones. We spent 6 days in this Resort and we were able to try most of the restaurants, the buffets for breakfast and lunch and the bars by the beach. Our favorite foods for breakfast were: omelettes for my husband, the gluten free section for my mom ( a decent variety ), empty crepes (that we filled with hazelnut spread) and preserve crepes for the kiddos, croissants for me. Lunch: they have 2 big rooms ( the same ones that are used for breakfast). One opens earlier and the other one opens later. It looks like they always have the same food but they don't. They try to vary every day and i really appreciated that. Plus their buffets are BIG so of course the main dishes are always there. I loved their Paellas with fries, fish, meat, mix. One day they had a kind of Paella, the day after they had different ones. They have burgers, hot dogs, pastas, lasagnas, grilled eggplants, great focaccias, pizza ( we did not like that), fresh fruit, etc... I think that it is really hard NOT to find something you like, unless you hate food in general. Dinner: The italian restaurant was so and so... we liked their appetizer, we thought it was pretty authentic (we are italian/bulgarian) but the rest of the food was just fine. The Spanish restaurant was my favourite, really good food, plated nicely. The goat cheese salad that my husband ordered was so good.. The Mexican restaurant was good, i guess? too many tequilas, but my family liked it. Make sure to get the big table that circles a cooking area. The Japanese restaurant: slow service ( it can happen) but the food was good. Not the usual hibachi that we eat here in Chicago (suburbs) but we ate everything and pretty much liked it. I've heard that the Steakhouse and the Coral Restaurant are okay. The French one is probably the best. We need to try that next time we go there ( No kids allowed and it costes extra to eat at that one, i believe 15-30 dollars per pax) The buffet was also good for dinner. We had dinner there for Valentine's day because it was all decorated and we enjoyed it a lot. The beach and the pools: we enjoyed both, the kids loved the kids' pool but they were not tall enough for the Pirate's pool. The beach was great, clear water and always clean ( they clean the beaches from the seaweeds every morning ). The pools surrounded by bars were my kids' second favorite place to be. They enjoyed jumping in and out. Cleaning aspect: The whole Resort is super clean, the rooms are as well. However, we tipped the first 2 days and we forgot to leave a tip on day #3 and they room was not cleaned as usual. Tip for future/new guests: Leave the bartenders, cleaning ladies, room refrigerators stockers TIPS. Tips are always appreciated by them. “Employees are not allowed tatoos, piercing, beard or long hair.”

Employees are not allowed tatoos, piercing, beard or long hair. It's crazy a beach resort does not allow its employees to show their tatoos or piercing. Nor even long hair or beard. How do people keep traveling to this type of places?

“Come for everything except the food”

I did a completely outside of my comfort zone thing and traveled solo to the DR and stayed at the Barceło Bavaro Palace. The entire facility was well-run, clean quiet and perfectly located. I took advantage of many of the amenities including the spa which was a wonderful experience and priced fairly for what you got. The theatre and casino were also quite enjoyable as were the non-stop rum and sodas that Domingo at the BlackJack introduced me to. And despite the number of kids and 20-30 something party people, it was remarkably quiet and my room was especially so. I was warned about all-inclusives however because of the food and this facility was no different. I quickly came to hate the buffets but also felt the food quality was just poor overall and a visit to the Seafood restaurant was unbelievably disappointing. However, food quality was the old negative to an otherwise relaxing and very enjoyable stay.
