    “Beautiful Resort, terrible food”

Upon arrival we were very impressed with the resort, we have visited many resorts all over Mexico and this one is one of the most beautiful, we upgraded to Premium and our view is amazing. It is not overly busy but I think understaffed so although friendly service it’s hard to get service around the pool area. Rooms are clean and comfortable and maid service is friendly. I would love to say we would recommend this resort but due to the food quality we would not, nor will we return. The food is very repetitive, for example they put out roast beef at supper then served it again at breakfast the next day and again at lunch, by then it was so dried out there was no saving it. The one dessert they served was the last few days of left over desserts mixed together. There is rarely guacamole or salsa and the food is usually cold and dried out. We only tried the Mexican restaurant as we were told by other guests not to bother with the other two as they were not good. Another guest told us they had a big bug crawl out of their food at the Mexican restaurant. It was the general consensus among other travellers we talked to that the food was very poor quality. So if Manzanillo is on your travel bucket list it is a beautiful resort but pack a lunch...

“Beautiful resort, but the food is terrible!”

We have done a lot of travel over the years, and the Barcelo Karmina palace has definitely won the award for the worst food category. Food is cold, and repetitive. The beef prepared for today I am sure is the beef for the next two days. Very poor quality. Talking to other people in the resort, and all agree that the food is the worst they experienced in an all inclusive resort. It’s too bad because the resort is quite beautiful. Save yourself the frustration and don’t bother going to this resort. I would understand if the resort was busy, but at the most it is only 50% occupancy.

    “Incredible Stay!”

I came here for a wedding last week and wow this place is all inclusive with food and drinks. For only $7.50 roughly ($150 mxn) we got a daybed overlooking the lagoon connecting to the open seas. The daybed is for the whole day and with a bucket of water bottles, you can't beat that price. The rooms are large with a separate seating area and 2 flat screen t.v.s, a big bathroom with walk in shower and a separate tub that can fit 2. The golf course is filled with palm trees and a fantastic view of the surrounding hotels/buildings along the coast. There are 2 buffets in the morning overlooking the pools/theater and ocean.

“Beware: Stay away from the Barcelo Karmina”

This was the worst hotel experience of my life and it was supposed to be a luxury experience for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. We stayed 8 nights and even paid extra for a "premium level" experience. The incidents, rudeness, and terrible experience we had was too much to write in one review, but here are some notes:- The food is horrible. Despite paying for the all inclusive, we ended up going out for every meal for the last 4 days of the trip. It was that bad. Our food was frequently cold and the quality very low.- The "premium level" gave you access to a local Mexican wine, which was not good, while the resort tried to get us to pay for medium level international wines. This is not the type of premium level available at any other resort.- The spa employs people who have not actually been trained in giving a massage. My girlfriend described her massage (which was for her birthday!) as the masseuse playing finger games with her back.- There was a security issue on day 1 as someone at the resort had a drone flying over the rooms taking photos while we were out in our bathing suits. When I asked the staff to shut it down, they replied it was for a wedding and they would deal with it. It happened again two days later.- There were 3 wedding there while we were there and they take place outside right by the rooms. They are playing music incredibly loud until 2-3 AM in the morning. We had to be up early for a snorkel trip and couldn't sleep.- There were restrictions on when we could book nights at the restaurants despite our paying for premium level. The first day we arrived, they stopped taking reservations at 5 PM, despite being at half capacity at the Agave restaurant. We checked in after 5 so we were told we could not eat there.- Housekeeping put sheets on the bed twice with large holes in them and, when we asked for an extra washcloth (since she had only given us 1) we were told we couldn't have one, despite her having a cart full of them.- The food from room service often took an hour and a half or longer to arrive.- The drink quality was low and the "bartenders" didn't know how to prepare a drink other than a margarita.Bottom line....this is not a luxury resort. They treat their guests like they are a problem they have to deal with, rather than with kindness and service. We felt like they were actively trying to get us not to stay there. It makes us hesitant to ever go to another Barcelo property because of this experience
