“For a 5stars you expect a bit more!”

At first, the hotel us beautiful, the decoration is nice, the building inside and outside is well maintained! The workers are professional, friendly and ready to help you. We had the amazing chance to stay in the so called bedroom “ la princesa”. The morning sunset from your bed makes it an incredible experience, so many windows in this room that gives natural light. The bedroom is clean, spacious and with all the furniture you might need during your stay. However, why 3 and not 5ranking? Well, for a 5 stars you expect some details to be taken care of! Few examples, the breakfast is basic, similar to what you can find in a 3 stars hotel, orange juice is even not a fresh pressed juice, food or cake are kind of pastries from a supermarket, fresh cooked food from a chef to prepare french omelette or pancakes or just a warm food...fried eggs were cold at the buffet. The Spa is nice, warm and cosy! What a surprise to go to a contrast shower and half of the water spray do not work, some bubbles in the jacuzzi neither or the cold water not even cold! Some rust was seen on the waterfall metal plate, small pieces of stone in the pool... Be careful to book your spa otherwise you could go on Sunday morning or at a time that does not suit your agenda and also bring your swimmingcup, otherwise it will cost you 4€ each... 1 entry for 2nights of 1hr booking the deluxe room could be also relooked at! Adding to this, price is quite expensive... Nordes-Tonic cocktail 13€...only 3 red wines selection for a cup during dinner We were lucky with the bedroom but coming back after almost 8years, the maintenance and quality food is yet to be improved for a 5*...

Dear Ms JulienChretien, First and foremost we would like to thank you for taking your time to review us since it makes us better in any way. Concerning your review in terms of the room facilities , let us say that we are very proud of them wherever we go. In terms of the breakfast quality, make sure that we will forward your concerns to the chef in order to keep them aware about the quality itself. We are currently shifting the breakfast concept to a new one which consists of healthier and local food. Nonetheless, rest assure that we take note of it. Last but not least, we have already worked with the maintenance department in order to repair those imperfections that you recently mentioned and are already fixed. Once again, thanks for taking your time to review us. Best regards

    “Lovely hotel - great service”

This is a really good hotel and towards the top end of my four star rankings. It is set amongst stunning scenery and situated within walking distance of the pretty hilltop village of Boltana and a five minute drive to the lovely town of Ainsa. The Barcelo Monasterio de Boltana Hotel is a tastefully restored monastery, with an imposing exterior and some exquisite internal features such as the glass-ceilinged lounge next to reception. The guest rooms are all quite roomy, well-furnished and well-equipped. Common areas such as the restaurant and breakfast areas are spacious and comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, put off by some indifferent TripAdvisor reviews. The breakfast however was very good, with a very wide and frequently replenished selection. The service was uniformly excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful – and those working on reception spoke excellent English – which didn't always happen in other parts of the Ainsa area. As is the case in most of the hotels we have stayed in Spain and Portugal recently, tea or coffee making facilities are not standard in the room. If you are that way inclined, it might be worth digging out the old travelling kettle. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, as well as a very well-appointed spa, with all sorts of Jacuzzi features and a sauna. However, even hotel residents will be charged for use. As with the lack of a kettle, this seems fairly typical in Spain. The Barcelo Monasterio de Boltana is a very good hotel, in a great location. It offers excellent value for money and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone touring the region.

“Nice place to stay and travel around in pirineos- Boltaña”

An old carmelitan monastery, simple, but well equipped, the hotel offer everykind of facilities to make you feel at home. Nice garden, swiimming pool and wallking distance from the village of Boltaña. Only 6 km far away is AINSA a middle age city , wonderfull to walk around. Twenty km north you arrive to Pineta valley ( one of the entrance of Parque Nacional de Ordesa) , with many places to visit the mountain, and also to Poset and Maladeta National Park

    “Not quite 5 star”

This is supposed to be a 5 star ex-monastery - not really It had the biggest bed I have ever seen, the room is very large. The shower was OK and WiFi was good For an alleged 5 star there were no tissues, no kettle and no individual shampoos The shower looked awesome but only the top sprays worked. The shower was very slippery and dangerous. Both the dinner and breakfasts were excellent.

    “Nothing like a 5 star”

We stayed 7 nights in the so called villas. The hotel building is 5 star but that´s it. The management of the hotel is really bad. The rooms are very dirty and floors were never washed the 7 days we stayed there. We wrote notes and put on the floor asking them to remove spiderwebs and lots of dust in the corners (see photo). They cleaned the two spots we pointed at but nothing else. Spa circuit was not good and sauna cold. The bathrobe in the room was really dirty (see photo). Swimming pool was closed. Not once did we get a smile from any of the staff. They all seemed truly bored and unhappy. I am not the complaining type but I could go on. I just want to warn people not to expect anything you would from a 5 star hotel. I give it 3 stars only for the building. The rest is unacceptible.
