    “Excellent location”

Normally, I am just 'ok' with all-inclusive resorts but Barceló Aruba was perfect. First of all everyone on staff (and everyone in Aruba) is so friendly. it was a pleasure to be a guest there. Food is available all day as there are plenty of restaurants.....some better than others but all good to great. Our favorites were Oriental and Mexican. There are two buffets and room service as well. The pool is lovely, the alcohol brands are respectable and the activities and entertainment are just enough. In addition there is a lovely area across the street from the resort that stretches about a half mile with tons of food and modest shopping options. You never feel like you're 'stuck' in a resort. If someone said you must complain about something I'd say the ability to get a decent sized 'to go' coffee. In the morning I'd have to go to the self service coffee and get two small Styrofoam cups just to equal half of what I'd normally drink in the morning. Then, throughout the day, unless you go off property, availability of a fresh cup was hard to come by on the resort. When the main bar opened (5 or 6 pm I think), you could get coffee and specialty coffees but again....just tiny little cups. Truly....don't dwell on that because everything was perfect and there is Starbucks available right next door in the Hyatt.....short walk and typical Starbuck prices. As I said the front door takes you to restaurants and shopping. Walking out the back door takes you to a great path....probably close to a mile in total for walking, running, coffee, ice cream, restaurants, entrances to other hotels and resorts....all beachfront and a great morning walk.

    “Wasn't as expected”

The location of this hotel is great, but the service and the food was very poor. I checked other hotels during my stay and noticed that there are better options for less or same money. Next time I would prefer to go to a No all inclusive hotel and eat outside because there are a lot of options.

    “Family vacation”

We've been to Aruba 5 times and this was our first time at the Barcelo. The hotel was clean. The Wifi is poor in the rooms but you had good reception in the lobby for one hour per day. The breakfast and lunch were average. Enough food but the variety and quality could be better. Lots of chicken and rice dishes. There were canned fruits for breakfast such as peaches and dates. I was looking forward to mangoes and fresh cut fruit daily. A lot of the fruit was out the whole day. The watermelon was watery and mushy at certain meal times. You could tell the food was recycled into other meals. We ate out three times for variety and also for special occasions. The all inclusive is a great option for families with small children and heavy drinkers. Our son is not of legal age to drink so we thought we paid too much for this vacation. Overall, the hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. We were disappointed with the lack of fresh fish and fruit and variety and quality of food.

“Second time is not a Charm!”

This my second stay at this property. I was a guest when it was the Occidental Grand. My expectations based on my previous stay were not met. I'd previously stayed in the Royal Club and there is a stark difference in the quality of the facilities. First, I was moved to 3 different rooms. My first room was handicapped and was in need of updating, maintenance. The air conditioning unit in my second room began to leak and it was necessary to move. The third room was fine. One thing I found surprising was that there were more direct t.v. channels available. Why would not all rooms have the same access to cable channels? The restaurants were OK. The Japanese Hibachi was good and the chef was entertaining. Pest control should try to control the flies in the Palm Restaurant and Beach Club. No one wants to eat fruit that have flies on it. The nightly entertainment was excellent and involved audience members. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It seems that rooms below the Royal level are subpar.

    “Aruba Vacation”

We had an amazing time at Barcelo Aruba. The room was great, however when we arrived, we had difficulty getting into the room, and had to wait for new keys to be made. Staff members at the Barcelo were friendly and accommodating. Natasha set up the room beautifully for a birthday surprise. Jaison was a great activities coordinator. We enjoyed beach volleyball and pool games with him every afternoon. Kaye was a wonderful performer in the Cirque show and host of pool games. Every morning for breakfast we looked forward to having Renato as our waiter at the buffet. He would sing and make us laugh. We got lucky and even had him for our romantic beach dinner which was delicious and we won at a pool game with Kaye. The pool is beautiful and the beach is great... the breeze was lovely and the water was fantastic. Our only complaint is that in a few situations, the resort seemed to run out of items. The first day, when we arrived at the pool at 5 in the evening, there were no clean towels. A couple times in the afternoon, the pool bar ran out of mint for mojitos and lemons for drinks in general. Through the entire time we were there, the resort was out of ketchup in pump containers, and the only ketchup available was in single packets. Because of the amazing hospitality from Jaison, Kaye, and Renato we look forwrd to our next vacation to Aruba specifically at the Barcelo.
