    “Family Trip”

Check in standard after 3pm. No drinks offered upon check in and it was toasty. Find Melvin when you get there he can guide you. Apple vacations Emmanual, is the best we did the dolphin adventure and went to the mountains all day excursion with American and Ceasar and when I tell you I had a good time, learned several thinks and sipped on some rum. I had a blast. The food was good.. Seafood was great! But our steak was cooked to perfection. Hats off to Carlos in the buffet that man works and showed my family so much love. Thank you. The young lady yasmine in the store...thank you for helping me with my little 1 yr old terror.. all I can say is pool, food, great room 8212 across from Barco is the best location. The speaker rocks lol I loved those bar shocked daily and shower magnificent. If you forget anything this resort has it. And an urgent care on site. This is hands down one of the best vacations I have had, traveling with a 4 and 1 yr old. And the bowl g was too fun, pool so much to do we are booking another trip soon! Thank you for the hospitality and love.

    “Perfect, relaxing spot for families”

I was a little hesitant to book this place after reading some mixed reviews, but I'm happy I did! My family and I had an amazing vacation. It was my sister, my husband, me, and our 1 and 3-year-old sons. We stayed in the Family Junior Suite Premium Level, which was a nice amount of space. It opened onto a big grassy area, had a nice patio, and partial ocean views. We were a little walk from the pool, which worked out great because it was louder the closer you get. First of all, this resort is MASSIVELY huge. I don't think I realized that while booking it. The grounds are pristine. The pool was really nice and hardly packed, especially early in the morning when we were there. The beach was lovely -- lots of palm trees, so you got a little breeze and shade, and very calm and shallow water, which was also great for the kids. We never had issues getting a pool chair, but sometimes it was hard to get a beach chair if we went after 1 p.m. Early in the morning, there would be an army of staffers cleaning up the place. Gorgeous ocean views galore. If you have kids, there is a ton of stuff to do. My 3-year-old was obsessed with all the kiddie pools (there are two), the giant pool (we had it all to ourselves before 9 a.m. many days), and the beach. Both my boys liked playing at the kids' club, even though we didn't leave them unsupervised (but the kids in there looked like they were having a pretty good time). It was like a wealth of options for everyone, and I imagine if my kids were a couple of years older they probably would have had even more fun. My husband is into water sports, and he enjoyed paddle boarding and snorkeling. I love spas, and had a great massage one afternoon. The spa is beautiful and relaxing, and if I didn't have my hands so full with the little kids, I would have spent all day there. There's also lots of restaurants, bars, sporty things, dance classes, concerts at night, shopping, golf. A toooon of stuff to do. We mostly ate at the buffet because we couldn't get reservations at many of the restaurants after we arrived. Didn't realize we had to book beforehand -- I personally think the hotel should ban pre-booking because that was a bummer. We ate at the french restaurant, the Spanish restaurant, and the cowboy/horse restaurant, which was delicious, and the sports bar, which was fine too. The giant buffet wasn't the best food I've had in my life, but the food was extremely plentiful and it was perfect for kids. My 3-year-old especially loved the doughnuts and chocolate ice cream (eh, vacation). It was over the top with chocolate fountains and cakes and craziness. One downfall was the delayed check-in process. I'd read on TripAdvisor that it was disorganized, so I pre-registered online beforehand, plus our room just happened to be "premium" so we got the fancy lounge-- but it still took forever. My son was jumping out of his skin bc he was so eager to swim and we had to stay in the lounge for an hour. So I wish that process was smoother. I've traveled a ton around the world, and I'm am admittedly a hotel snob. I'm also a longtime New Yorker, so I have high standards. Was this place the most glamorous, fancy place I've ever been? No, that would probably be the Hotel Du Cap in the South of France -- but that's not what we were looking for. We wanted an upscale spot with lots to do that was comfortable for the whole family and relatively easy to get to. Barcelo fit the bill perfectly. It is truly beautiful, my family and I had a great vacation here, and we would absolutely return!!

    “Great for family”

This hotel does a great job mixing families and couples without kids. Traveling with kids can be a challenge, but the staff at the resort were very accommodating. We stayed at the family club area and the rooms were great. The beach, pool and kid's areas are top notch. The food at the restaurants is terrific, the buffet can be a little hit or miss but overall the kids liked it. The grounds were amazing, and very well maintained. Overall, a great vacation.
