    “Don't let the wilderness entry gate fool you.”

    Hidden behind an older and neglected looking entry gate lies a beautiful resort complete with palms for natural shading on the beach. Huge beach and lots of pools amongst Spanish style white wash and red tiled roofs.

    Awesome food, entertainment and atmosphere. Great for couples without kids. Alcohol choices were very limited and should offer more than just Presidente beer. Waitresses service needs to improve a lot

    “Beautiful resort, beautiful views”

    We just had a fantastic week in Punta Cana. Special thanks to Fabrizzio Reynoso for all he does for the members. I watched how he spoke to everyone and knew everyone and got whatever anyone needed. I did not see this with many of the staff. We stayed in First club area and after a problem with our room, we were moved to another on the 3rd floor which was 100 times better. The reason I only gave 4 stars was because of the first room which they gave us which had a lot of issues which we brought to their attention but nothing was done until several days later we were moved. The first room should really have not had anyone in it until the issues were addressed and the room renovated. As 18 year members we felt that we should not have been put there especially when there was availability in much better rooms. Other than the room situation, we had a great time and enjoyed our trip.

    “An average stay”

    The Occidental Punta Cana has great rooms if you stay on the 3rd floor. Our room was on the second floor and it was ok and clean. Building 26 is definitely the best building to stay at. Be careful, you will be bombarded with 'internet" deals...stay away and do not fall into the trap. The building host is the one offering these deals and it is sad to take their customers for stupid people. They started at 70$ for all week free Wi-Fi. We are in 2017 and no free Wi-Fi?? All other hotels have it. Then we got the free Wi-Fi code for free from travelers. This is ridiculous. Barceló bought this hotel and I can guarantee you that this hotel doesn't meet Barceló standards yet. If you want excellent service at the buffet restaurant make sure to be in Franklin Hernandez section. He is awesome and made our diner very pleasant. He is very professional and we have mentioned it to his supervisor. Buffet was nice and even had Sushi one night. Beach was great we were always able to find a spot in the shade with chairs. The only complaint was that the algae was not at all removed from the beach during our stay,

    “Occidental Punta Cana - Royal Level”

    I travel a lot and never post reviews but I have to write this one as I had a great experience being a Royal Level guest at the Occidental Punta Cana. First it is important to realize that the Royal Level section is a hotel within the hotel itself. My comments are based on the Royal Level services and amenities since we did not access the main section of the hotel. If you are looking for extreme calm, an older clientele and being in a secluded area you will be content. Being at Royal level gives many advantages like having a intimate private a la carte restaurant, which has a different menu daily and is open for breakfast lunch and dinner, also an exclusive bar area on the beach, and an immense jacuzzi where you can enjoy peace and quiet throughout the day. The entire hotel has been renovated, not in a flashy way but in a practical and sober style. What also makes this experience so exceptional is the remarkable work and professionalism of some staff members. I would like to express gratitude to a few of them and mention their names in order for the Occidental/Barceló administration to acknowledge the excellent work they achieve. - Royal lobby: Diana Martinez, Melina Luna - Royal restaurant: Yoquelis Terroro, Ignacio Tejeda, Diego Amparo, Luis Alberto Perdomo, Armando Michel -Royal Arena bar: Camen Guillen, Genesis Martinez -Also a special mention for Addison Urina who should be promoted to the Royal section. He has tremendous potential. **A special thanks to Diana Martinez for her kindness and for trying to make our stay as perfect as possible.. We had a wonderful vacation and are looking forward to visiting this resort in the future again.
