    “Staying at Allegro Playacar”

    The grounds are very well kept, a lot of work being done even in the peak season. They have added an "A LA CARTE" oriental restaurant it is a good idea and the meal and service were very good, but for that they have taken part of the seating area of the BUFFET. What is negative on my part, a lot less choices in the BUFFET, missing a lot of good choices we had the previous years. And of course like every year, there are a lot of fans above us and this cools your plate, so you eat cold. I love Mexicain food and Italian food but I don't like my food when it is cold. So a lot of times I had desserts for my meals.

    “5 Stars to Zero”

    The service staff was fabulous, friendly, helpful and soon recognized us. We probably doubled tipped in some cases for outstanding service. The food too was wonderful. The buffet was perfect for dinners and only ate 2 times at the other restaurants. Breakfast and dinner both had stations for made to order items. Lunch by the pool was equally as good. Now for the Zero Star. We arrived on Saturday, now this was a dive trip, and the front desk did not have a clue as to where the dive shop was. We wanted to check in and get set up to start diving on Sunday morning. As it turned out ProDive had a representative by the pool and the operation was at an adjoining hotel. ProDive was 5 Star Plus operation! So now we missed the morning dives. And now the room. We complained Sunday of a water leak coming down from the ceiling to the floor by the sink. It got progressively worse during the week, constant complaints, they tore our the ceiling panels 2x while we were occupying the room and the leak continued. It was so bad - see pictures - we had to move out of the closet area entirely and live out of our suitcases. FINALLY on Thursday they offered us another room. We explained we were going on a 12 hour bus tour on Friday and leaving on Saturday and moving would not help at this point after dealing with it all week. We tried several times to speak to the GM but only got 2nd in command. After that we were offered free wifi - what for one day? Massage free - when? We were going to be out all day on Friday and then offered dinner by the sea. Again we were not getting back till 9:00 pm on Friday,. We did request a room comp for 5 nights (not 7 that we were there, nor any part of the meal plan with the all inclusive, just room) and got no where. Apparently we found out that after the renovations there were leaks in our quad unit building. No way should we have been put in that room knowing that until resolved and as early as Monday be offered another room. We also should not have been inconvenienced with workmen in the room on 2 different occasions. Again, fabulous staff, food and service but beyond poor in acknowledgement of guest needs on the part of senior management.

    “Wonderful resort!”

    My first visit to Mexico and Allegro Playacar made me want to go back soon! I have never shared on Trip Advisor previously but I had to share this trip. The resort staff was 100% friendly and everyone worked so hard to make my trip great. My room was super clean and comfortable. The internet worked great, although my VZ phone was included in my domestic plan, I learned once I arrived. The cell phone coverage was great. The food was very good, and the hours provided were excellent. The bar staff was excellent and it was never a wait for a cold drink. The activities staff were great, always friendly and leading fun activities. The resort also provided nighttime live entertainment each night I was there, and one afternoon by the pool. I particularly like the Michael Jackson tribute dance group! It was very easy to do things outside the resort - we met a fishing boat on the beach, as well Jet skied. Downtown Playa del Carmen was a short cab ride and is a great place to shop and eat. I did not have my family on this trip but would not hesitate to take them here as I saw many families, and they were welcome in all areas of the resort. There was also a kids club with very involved counselors. Thank you Allegro Playacar and Mexico for a great vacation, wish I could have stayed longer!

    “BEAUTIFUL BY THE SEA AND POOL”

    My husband and i enjoyed a beautiful second floor room with hammock overlooking the pool, white sand beach, and blue Caribbean Sea. The grounds are well groomed with decorative shaped greenery, palms, colourful floral, and kept immaculate. Fancy decorative towels were on bed daily. Delicious variety of foods at all meals. All staff were excellent and eager to please. Thank you to Allegro Playacar for all your fabulous efforts to please all guests.

    “Anniversary Bliss”

    We wanted a quiet and sunny vacation to celebrate our anniversary and Valentines Day. The two weeks was enjoyed completely. We have stayed here often and each time it is a new experience. This visit included lots of updates and improvements to the facility. Staff is always great, especially the First Club people like, Santiago, Jose, Julio as well as Jessica Lopez the manager of First Club. She also has very helpful concierges: Sarai, Elizabeth and Kinga. The facility Gen Mgr, Francisco Camecho is fabulous as well. We have known him for over ten years at many Occidental Resorts. The menu has improved too. Only area that lacks is the night time entertainment. It needs some polish and variety.
