    “Vacation ”

I really like this place . It’s awesome. Best resort so far I’ve been. One ☝️ think it’s really poor is service. When we arrived they wasn’t friendly at all instead show us where to go even give us a ride they point to other door. I really think if they have more friendly faces and more nice to tourists they can be 5 💫 but I’ll rate as 4 stars 🌟.

    “So far, not impressed.”

Just arrived and I feel that I am in hotel Siberia! Overlooking the roadway and a parking lot at the end of our building. No rooms available to move. If you can, stay away from building 83 or 85. Things are really spread out so we are far from everything. Not a great start to the next four days. Hopefully they can redeem themselves while I’m here.

    “3rd time's a charm!”

This is the 3rd time my family have come to the Maya Palace for a 10 day stay and overall it was a really great trip again. Some highlights of the trip: Food: Food at the brasserie and Caribe seemed to be improve from the year before. Really enjoyed the variations of prawn dishes, Steak, deserts etc... all really good. Also, the house wines were good, we all usually had a glass of house red or white every night and quite enjoyed it. Compared to our last stay where I rarely had a glass of red. As for service, overall most nights we had great service. In particular, Facundo & Erick at the Caribe, Antonio at the Brasserie provided excellent service during our stay. The buffet had great selection as well and friendly staff overall. Yaoli at the buffet in was very friendly and great with our kids. Alfredo & Cayetano at the buffet provided us with excellent service as well and entertained our attempts at ordering speciality coffees. Love all the selection at the buffet, although would appreciate a bit more healthy yogurts (less sugar). Tried the Japanese restaurant for the first time and was very impressed by the chef's skills. Food was good, but service was slow and they seemed stretched too thin. In comparison to our experiences with the Brasserie or Caribe it was not up to the same level of service. It did seem like they were a bit over loaded. Pools & Gym: Our kids loved the pools, beach was really nice as well as the access to boats. Went to the big gym twice, enjoyed the spin class and the exercise equipment. Mall & Golf: It was a highlight for our kids to play some mini golf, try out some of the games and then take the double decker bus back. One of the staff working there was really nice as well, very friendly and helpful. Reception / Check In: Overall the staff on the phone were friendly when we called. The check in process was very painful and slow though. I think it took well over an hour and I didn't find the front desk staff was particularly friendly, only on check out. We had asked for rooms closer to the pool as we have 2 young boys to lug around. Even though we had emailed several times before we were still placed in rooms way at the back. Got the full rigamarole during check in that the place was booked and we would have to check the next day, but it was clear the place had space and we were eventually moved closer to the front. I also didn't find the staff at the front desk too friendly in comparison to the rest of the resort. If it wasn't for this experience I think I would be giving a full 5 stars as this was the only real sour point of the trip. Room Service / Cleaning We had 2 night time emergencies where we need to get someone to clean our room during the night because of our kid, and both times had really fast response time. Appreciate the staff's promptness and the staff member that came by to clean up our room. Photo We did a photo shoot with Nacho and he took some amazing photos of our family. He was really good, the shots were the best photos we've had of our family and his ability to keep the kids entertained and things moving along in a fun way was a great experience. It was a really great trip and like how the resort seems to be continually improving. I'm sure we'll be coming back in the near future.

“Great Location. Friendly Staff. Highly recommend!”

I stayed here and the accommodations, staff, food, beach, pool, just everything was great. The restaurants were good but I would have been just as happy at the buffet. It was that good. And the Tropical had excellent food as well. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice place to stay.

“Resort which is like a city!”

We absolutely loved this resort. Excellent standards in every way. We are a family of four, a child and a teen and each of us enjoyed it and didn't want to leave after 8 days. It's part of the famous Barcelo chain in which there are 4 or 5 other Barcelos stuck to each other and while you're staying at the Maya, you can use all the bars and restaurants of the other ones. This one being the most "luxurious one". Mostly it's less noisy and the standards of food and amenities are supposed to be better. Of what we saw in the other resorts, they also have great standards and same quality of service which made us pleasantly surprised. Be prepared to walk a LOT, it is a good thing since the food is so much and so tempting, you may want to walk it off every day haha. Great food, for absolutely all tastes and in case you need something more specific, they will gladly prepare for you. They even have a little gluten free pastry section! I mean really! The complex has a Mall inside, Bowling alley and even a Dolphinarus! So no need to go anywhere really, unless you want to enjoy some excursion like Xel_Ha, Tulum, etc. We personally went to Tulum and couldn't wait to get back to our oasis haha. The rooms: We were 4 in a room, not very big but big enough, Modern and clean. We were on the third floor. The maintenance standards are high, never a complaint of needing towels or toiletries. Rosalba, our housekeeper made sure everything was impeccable. Thank you!! The beach: Ok, so if your priority is the beach and white sand for miles for walking and walking then this may not be the place for you. You do have miles of beach, as all the resorts are facing the beach alongside. But every now and then you have patches of rocks and rougher sand which you have to tread lightly. I personally would get disappointed if this happens to me, but since there still are patched of pure sand and you can enter the water without needing shoes, I didn't mind it. The rocks actually make the marine life more present. We even saw a couple turtles swimming a little in water. You stand in shallow waters and can see many fish just swimming around you. Snorkelers will be very happy. The kids club: OMG, if you want a break from your kids and want them to love it too, this is the place. The club has activities from 9 to 9 everyday. They have a great team and engage the children and our boy never wanted to leave. We had to "make him" come with us for lunch or dinner and spend some time together. They have it all. And everyday they do the water park which is right there in front of the club lots of slides and water fun. Beside the main pool. Main pool: You want to swim and swim doing laps? Well they have an athletic swimming pool and another endless pool with relaxing beds inside and many of them, so you don't have to wait for your turn. Amazing! Food and restaurants: We enjoyed the main buffet the most, you have everything you need. We went to the Brasserie french restaurant. Very posh and good food, you must try it. And we went to Tokyo sushi-tepanyaki, the typical one of everywhere. Good stuff. Gym and spa: Everything you need. The main gym for all the resorts is at another level. All the machines you can imagine. Top notch. The one at our resort was also good enough, so you didn't necessarily need to go to the main one every time. The spa was fantastic and makes you feel like a million dollars. Thank you Irma and Dolores for the wonderful massages! Premium level: definitely worth the extra money if you enjoy the smooth and exclusive check in which is in another room with food and drinks specially for you. The service is even higher standard and things like rooms service are included. It makes everything easier and more pleasant. Staff: Super kind and nice always willing to help and not expecting tips like we've seen in different resorts. You can just sit back and enjoy. We would like to mention Florencio who personally received us as soon as we arrived from the taxi and made our arrival so flawless. And then at the buffet Hacienda the Maitre Emmanuel Vergara who totally went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and helped me with my special food requirements. I am so grateful!! The waters each and everyone so kind and making sure we have all we need at the table. Usually there are two waters overlooking your table and taking plates, bringing drinks, etc. They go far and beyond. Bravo!! We are looking forward to going back to this Barceló. One of our funnest vacations ever!!
