“A great resort with a secluded tropical feel.”

This was my second visit to Riviera Maya and I chose this resort to be closer to the adventure excursions nearby. The resort had a secluded tropical jungle vibe and was cozy, but not at all too small. The architecture was perfect-very tropical and a grand scale. The resort had wild monkeys, jungle raccoons, iguanas, and other lizards roaming the grounds which my family and I enjoyed. They also had domesticated red macaws around the great hall area just below the lobby. There were some small authentic archaeological ruins on site to add interest. The ala carte restaurants did not require reservations or tickets and were included in your stay, which was nice. They did a good job of interpreting dishes and presented them in gourmet fashion, though probably not Michelin star worthy, they were above average. The buffet provided an decent variety, but the snack restaurants were basically American style fast food offerings and some Mexican food with fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. The mixed drinks were average and tasted like they used mostly drink mixes for the margaritas, frozen daiquiris and pina colodas but the mohitos were good. The beach area was small but not too crowded with a bar and snack restaurant adjacent. I would recommend the resort for people who are not too fussy and understand the pros and cons of all-inclusive resorts and I would visit again.

    “beautiful resort”

the resort is beautiful, the staff is very nice rooms clean and modern and ac works very well :) But i was very disappointed when we tried to have dinner in the restaurant above the pool bar. the staff wouldn't let us in because my husband didnt have jeans on and I was wearing flip flops. We found out that we will not be able to dine in any of the restaurants unless we have the proper attire, we were allowed to only dine in the 2 buffets . i was going on a vacation sun fun water flip flops and shorts not to wear jeans in the hot humid weather, I would understand if 1 restaurant was with proper attire but not all...just saying other wise the buffets had good food.

    “Very few complaints”

The service was awesome, and the location was as well. Everything was kept clean and in working order. My only complaint was that they do not make it very clear that the Wi-fi was not free, and the food did not agree with me or anyone else in my group

“Xcaret the best kept secret in Quintana Roo”

I came to the beautiful resort of Xcaret a year ago and proposed to my beautiful wife to be. We thought that Xcaret was so magical, beautiful, and service was top notch, that we surprised my parents with a 40 year anniversary vacation to Xcaret. My parents instantly fell in love with the resort and the friendly staff! Well done Occidental Xcaret for bringing a smile and warm memories for my parents! We'll visit many more years to come!

    “Bungalow in the Forest”

Stayed for a week in early June. Arrived Sunday after dark so we were only greeted with the grand entrance and not the sweeping line of sight through the lobby, down the boardwalk to the sea. Yessica quickly checked us into our room and we were on our way. Although we attempted to book two beds our room as Costco offered was a Junior Suite. It has one bed and a pullout couch. Couches were very uncomfortable, btw; super stiff with hard edges. The room was otherwise fine. Bed was mediocre in comfort. Like the couch was a bit firm. House-keeping kept the room clean and tidy as often as we let them. Fresh towels, sheets for the pullout, bed made-up and mini fridge stocked. We dined often at "Le Buffet" and received service from many smiling faces such as Julio (_?_) and Julio V. It offered a nice variety of foods that changed a little each day. The fresh fish tacos I made one night were one of my favorite meals. There's plenty of meat, fruits, vegetables, breads, juices and yogurts, among other options there. Our anniversary dinner was at La Hacienda. I ate the Chicken Mole and it was dee-lish. We also made one visit to each of D'Oriental, and the Sonora Grill. There we received impeccable service from Gualdamar. We both ordered the Brazilian skewer cuts meal; sausage, chicken, pork, beef and then pineapple. Each guest building has a couple hosts to greet you as you arrive and during your stay. They are kind of a go to for information but also the point where you can "upgrade" your room to a time-share room. We didn't go and quickly side-stepped that conversation. Our hosts were Carlitos and Caty. Both were so personable and treated everyone like family. The resort is very clean and covers a large piece of the jungle. The Occidental is built around the jungle more than it was built in it. This meant we saw lots of spider-monkeys, iguanas, geckos, coati, different birds, and some rat-like "furry" called a cereque(sp?), among others. It features two special entrances to the Xcaret Eco Park; the back one near the Beach Club closes at 5pm. Nightly entertainment for all age levels. Most nights begin with an activity for the kids before getting into the daily singing and dancing shows. You'll also find many local artists setting up booths selling a wide variety of wares typical of this part of Mexico, as well as more iconic Mexican crafts. The only thing we would have liked was some amount of coastline beach to walk. There really is none of significance. The little bit that you'll find is near the Beach Club. That's as good a place to swim as any. You can also snorkel that area too. So many things going on below the waterline. Lot's of pools to swim, some having swim up bars. We are pleased with our stay and thank all those named above as well as all the friendly and smiling faces who remained nameless. Everyone at the Occidental was courteous and treated everyone like a part of their personal family. To you all we say thanks.
