“Not a great place to relax”

This hotel is very nice but way too big. it's a long walk to restaurants and the pool. Also if your going on vacation and looking to relax, this isn't the hotel for you. We kept getting phone calls to our room starting at 7am from hotel staff, asking us to come to the lobby for our "gift" and then another call asking us if we wanted to book any activities. the calls just kept coming in, I had to disconnect the phone. You will constantly get bothered about special discounts which is a sales pitch for time share. The next day I had the same thing happen. I disconnected the phone again, and then at 8am housekeeping knocked on our door and as I was walking to open the door they opened our room door and walked in. I will not be coming back to this hotel.

    “An honest appraisal...”

After 13 hours traveling from London, we arrived to find there was confusion with our booking which was made via BA. We had the booking, but they didn't. The reception could have taken control but they didn't so the check in was 1 hour 20 minutes. I urge you to check your paperwork before you travel and don't expect any assistance from the hotel if there are minor issues. We are on the ground floor not far from the reception building and it's really dark with no view. Bring your own tissues, as there are none in the room and bring your own shampoo as the one in the room feels like washing up liquid. We didn't realise this resort is so large, but there is very little information about amenities and facilities, once the check in started there was a standard blurb and then you are on your own to go and point out your suit cases. The biggest gripe I have is the drinks. No straws for cocktails and kids drinks, my drink Absolute Vodka was a glass half full of Vodks, ice and a little Tonic and it was like drinking water, clearly, the Vodka is watered down and I ask what is the point of doing this when most people will know. I would rather there be a pay bar where I can access proper strength drinks. There is a Coffee Shop on the ground floor and there is a charge, again it's penny pinching, it's either all inclusive or not! The wifi strength is of years gone by, its like pay 70 USD for a week to receive the slowest wifi signal. I run a large uk company and need to be in contact, but this set up is so frustrating .. again, why bother. It's just so archaic when the rest of the planet has realised that fast free wifi is today one of the i most Important assets of any hotel. There is a charge for room service and inside the room there is very little information about the area etc etc ... and if you are a tea drinker, bring your own kettle, there isn't one here. Tomorrow will be our first full day so we will give it a try, I am going in to Play Del Carmen this morning to buy some Grey Goose Vodka, our party of 7 have decided that if we still feel the way we do after today, we will check out and I have reserved rooms at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun just in case.

“Beware of the slippery area around pool!!”

Beautiful hotel with wild animals roaming freely. Spotless hotel, lovely staff and delicious food. My only complaint is that my partner slipped in the pool area and had to have 20 stitches at the back of his head for a nasty cut. I must say that he was seen to immediately by hotel staff/doctor and was advised to go to the local hospital as they didn't have the necessary equipment in the hotel surgery. No follow up by hotel doctor or interest shown on his condition after treatment. Health and safety measures as to slipping hazards in pool area very scant and not enough, only 1 small notice, clearly not adequate!! Beware it's like walking on ice!!!!!

    “Cancun family holiday”

Great hotel, excellent food, wildlife around hotel amazing. Only slightly disappointing was the beach although the hotel have made the best of what they have. Try all the restaurants they are all very good. Although we don't have young children the entertainment for the was superb and staff were very good with them.

    “Nice”

Really comfortable accommodations, very pleasant staff. The food was okay, could of been better. The grounds were very beautiful with lots of wildlife. There were ruins on the property which added to the ambience.
