“Amazing and secluded location surrounded in beautiful scenery”

We recently stayed at the Formentor for a late summer getaway with our 3 month year old son and we wanted to treat ourselves to something special. And we were not disappointed... When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a nice gentleman that took all our bags and offered us a lovely drink to kickstart our stay with them. The check-in went smoothly and we were even upgraded to a ocean view (had a garden view) which also looked over beautiful gardens that cascaded down to the sea. The room wasn't massive but it was big enough for what we needed. A cot was prepared for our son and our bed was a very generous size - not to mention it was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on! I left thinking I definitely need one of these. All the amenities were included, shampoo, cond, body wash, toothbrush/paste, body lotion, soap, hair dryer, free bottled water, mini bar, plush towels, etc. The service for the most part was kind and helpful - only complaint is they didn't tell us about the ticket we needed for the gate because when we drove in the gate was open for a wedding ( i think it is usually closed and requires you to take a ticket to enter and you need that ticket to leave as well) so when we went to leave for dinner one night we couldn't get out and had to drive back to the hotel. The lady at the desk wasn't very helpful and seemed a bit annoyed as she was confused as to why we wouldn't have a ticket - it eventually got sorted by another member of staff. The hotel itself had amazing grounds, with lovely gardens, pristine pools - one smaller heated pool and one larger cooler pool. Our baby loved the heated pool - was a lovely area to spend the day. There was access to the sea but not many places to sit and other people can access the same area by walking up the beach -so its not private to the hotel. There were beauty treatment rooms near the pools and sea. The one negative with the grounds is they are not pram friendly - you have to be prepared to carry the pram or your baby everywhere. Also the elevator is small and not great places for those who have a wheelchair. Food - breakfast was delicious with a large variety of items to choose from with staff on hand to cook fresh omelettes and crepes. Dinner and drinks on the other-hand were very expensive. We ordered a coffee at the pool and it came very small, burnt and cost £5 euros - which was ridiculous! Overall we enjoyed our stay at Formentor and would recommend it to those that want access to beautiful grounds, who like a bit of luxury and for those that enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the pool or a swim in the sea.

    “Fabulous Formentor”

this hotel location is a slice of paradise but watch out for the price of the food and beverage - it's just not worth it and i don't understand why hotels grossly overcharge for F&B. The grounds and the hotels itself are great and by and large, the service is good.

    “Great place but the food....”

Everything they promise is true. The superb location, the lush garden, the pool, the view, our room was nice and the service kind and fast. BUT: The food they offer is more than horrible, it has nothing to do with a hotel of this category. pre fixed, tough, not fresh, not tasty at all, every freeway restaurant in europe offers better meals. The problem is, to find an alternative, you have to drive miles and miles back to Pollenca. We will go back, but bring our own food. There are major remodeling plans going on, let's cross our fingers that Barcelo does not wipe out the nostalgic atmosphere !

    “Heaven”

Formentor is idyllic, the staff are unbelievably kind and helpful and we were on a cloud the whole time we were there. That's not to say there aren't improvements that could be made (for us, it was the plumbing and limited out of season dining options). But we will definately stay at Formentor again without a second's hesitation and highly recommend it as a place of beauty, tranquility and relaxation. You'll not want to leave.

    “Splendid seclusion”

Since almost everything has been said about this gem of a hotel I may add that it is indeed a royal hideaway. Calm, amidst pristine gardens, there is nothing that can keep you from having not a care in the world. The staff is well trained, friendly and attentive. Your day starts with a perfect breakfast buffet which caters to every taste and need. The various lounges are stacked with exquisite coffee table books in case you don't feel like going to the pool or beach which are only a few meters away. The only downside in my opinion is the dinner arrangement at the El Colomer which is the main hotel restaurant. Even if you have only a banana or a small salad, you pay around 60,- € without drinks. You are actually paying for those guests who load their plates fully 3 times at the (fabulous) buffet. The reception staff was helpful and solution- oriented when a major problem occured that had nothing to do with the hotel. Here I would like to mention Rosa to whom I am very grateful. Will definitely come back again!
