    “Barcillo Castillo beach resort”

    My self/wife and daughter of three years loved our stay and honestly could not fault the resort in any way Its location next to the beach was by far the best in Castillo. Our only regrets are we did not go all inclusive. Our superior bungalow next to the pool was excellent with plenty of space to chill out at night

    “This hotel was a mistake”

    The hotel staff were terrible, the cleaners have no maners at all and barge into your room or bang on the door till you answer, they broke my tablet and 2 photo frames we bought as presents then the hotel refused to even entertain the fact that our possesions were damaged saying that we couldnt prove it was them that done that! I have never felt so disgraced in my life than i am with this hotel and i strongly recomend not to go here that was just one of the many inicidents we had here we were so glad to see it in our review mirror best part of the stay was the leaving

    “Ok holiday but put me off resorts & all inclusive”

    We are currently on holiday at Barcelo and whilst it's fresh in mind I'm writing my review: Good Points: 1. Short distance from hotel 2. Choice of 3 pools plus beach moments from resort 3. Great entertainment team round the main pool 4. Comfortable bed 5. Good spacious apartment ( 2 adults and 1 child aged 5 who sleeps on sofa bed) 6. Lovely seaside walk where you can see the chipmunks living in the rocks. 7. Harbour is lovely and plenty of activities which you have to pay for. 8. Good wifi available even in our rooms. 9. Good selection of TV channels available include the BBC selection in English. 10. Good kitchen facilities. 11. You can hire beach towels for the week (10 Euros each). Negative Points: 1. Cockroaches on the food in the restaurant and in the apartments. We found them in the lemons for the tea, spaghetti, under the table and on the salad cart. 2. Food for the most part is cold and if it were the UK would have been closed down through health and safety. Everyday we have tried the lasagna only to find it stone cold. Same for many other dishes which are kept under what looks like a heat lamp but it's just a lamp. 3. Only 2 beach bars during the day have full AI drinks selection. 4. From 6-6.30 no where to get drinks or snacks except purchased in the shop. Or walk miles our your way to the harbour bar. 5. In the evening only one place available for drink / entertainment for entire resort that has AI with limited outside seating. 6. Limited menu unless you like fish or pork. The resort has signs up everywhere saying you must not reserve beds which everyone ignores. 7. When a coach load of new guests arrive and rooms are not ready they are set to pool side bars and take up all the seating and eat all the food for the guests already enjoying their holiday ( logic should have it that they are taken to the harbour bar which is not used until evening and has all the amenities they need without disturbing guests already checked in ). 8. No spirits available with dinner just beer, wine (on tap not bottled!), cava or soft drinks. 9. Cleaners in your room are good and friendly it's just a shame they don't wash the crockery so you are expected to by washing up liquid on an AI holiday. 10. No play parks for children unless you stay in the royal section which is significantly more £££ 11. If you are waiting outside the restaurant at 6.30pm for it to open you get to watch the restaurant manager line every member of staff up and lecture them for 15min for no reason as I haven't seen one not doing a good job. Just a man in power making sure the guests know it. As a people manager this is really poor management and not the way to motivate your team and create a nice environment to work in. I have stayed at many Barcelo hotels in Europe and probably will again but not at this one I'm afraid. I'll refrain from resorts and stick with hotels. This hotel has too much going on that it's forgotten the basics.

    “Definitely return - but a few hiccups”

    Just returned from 10 day stay at this resort on a HB basis. Our bungalow was in an amazing position overlooking the sea, between full time residents and other resort guests. We had a standard bungalow and it was just fine and thankgod it had aircon! Would definitely return. The animation team worked hard and enjoyed a few evenings entertainment. Especially the flaminco evening. + Best location in caleta + Cleaned daily and towels replaced daily + Cleaners especially friendly and cleaned to a high standard + Drinks on site were competitively priced + OMG the beds - best sleep ive had in a long time! - Although food of good quality and selection became VERY repetitive - Fully inclusive IS NOT fully inclusive! - Had to find bungalow in dark - challenging - would be nice to have had some assistance! - The cats - meowing from dawn til i got grumpy at them - they're everywhere! Then we have the roadworks ! The whole of Caleta has roadworks and areas being landscaped and invested in. Once its complete itll be lovely. Didnt bother us and its not the resorts fault. Although be prepared for noise and dust between 07.30 and 18.00 M-S. Sundays off! Having said that - would return and thankyou for a lovely stay!

    “Worst holiday ever had”

    First night was subjected to cockroaches in bungalow apartment barracaded our selves in bedroom with towel at door stop them coming in bedroom but in night found juvenile cockroaches on bed next morning went to reception asked for move well we moved to a different apartment but there was cockroaches in that one in the basin overflow pipe and under the sink I was a nervous wreck all holiday as cockroaches are my worst nightmare so we ended up buying cockroach spray for apartment food was bit mixed and paid half board only had one evening meal as was that poor went out for rest of week breakfast was off putting Wen flies on the fruit and food food needs to be covered up was ill 3 times on holiday this was for me the holiday from hell
