    “royal treatment”

    I have stayed with Barcelo hotels before the Royal level was well worth the money for comfort nd food the personalservice at meals was outstsnding. The choice of premium brand drinks were good the staff always had time for a smile.The pool area was well maintained with plenty of clean towels.As a non meat eater the choice of fish and vegetarian food we the best I have had in a long time.

    “Satisfied Sun Seeker”

    We had an enjoyable relaxing stay. The hotel was as we expected - good quality with good service. It was an all inclusive holiday which actually meant that. eg beach towels/wifi etc were all free. The buffet food was good with a wide variety; a chef was there to cook the main course. The side dishes however were always lukewarm and therefore unappetising. The staff were friendly and efficient.

    “Very disappointing 6th visit.”

    I realise that reviews are a personal opinion, but we have been going to this hotel for the past 6 years every March,meeting people who have now become friends who also return for the same week,unfortunately this year will be our last holiday there.Previous years had been fine,each year the hotel was getting better and better but this year the food was awful,which for our group was a problem.The a la Carte Rubicon Restaurant is now shut,where every year the service and choice of food was great,now The a la Carte has moved next door where the food was dire,often cold with little choice.The Atlantico Restaurant is now open in the evening buffet style for meals which are much the same as lunch meals often cold and undercooked. Such a shame as we all enjoyed our previous holidays here,looking for another hotel for next year's get together.Always raved about this hotel to our friends and family but not anymore unless things get back to how they were,if they do,please tell me.

    “Another restful week but lost attention to detail”

    This was our second stay. We had our first "empty nester" break last year - both of us needing a rest and recharge towards the end of winter - and found the Barcello Premium "hotel within a hotel" a great place to relax. The week wasn't as perfect as last year but was still a restful escape. Our first room was far too close to the main hotel and we asked to be moved to the quieter end of the establishment. Rather strangely the first room also lacked a view unless you were standing up!! A design fault with a number of balconies suffering from painted walls where there should have been either glass or wooden slats. Bizarre! Anyway, with huge thanks to Marianna on reception, we moved after two nights and really much preferred our new location. Marianna was incredibly helpful and also cheerfully polite. After hearing negative feedback on the "a la carte" restaurant, we stuck to the buffet. The quality and volume of the food was very good, but became a bit "samey" after a while. I am gluten free and as a result found all the deserts, except ice cream, out of bounds. It was very frustrating that for a couple of days mid week there was a group of businessmen using the buffet restaurant - we suspected that they were senior hotel executives. Suddenly a large table was reserved for them and as a consequence we couldn't get a table as paying guests. That restaurant only works with no reservations and primarily people eating as couples or on their own. If they want to keep the integrity of the place, keep business out of the place and always prioritise the paying guests coming for an adult only break. The outside bar was looked after by a charming cheerful and helpful Migeul - but contrary to the information given to us at check in, the bar closed at 6.30pm each evening and instead we had to visit the inside bar attached to the main hotel, even if we wanted to sit outside with a quiet drink. The inside bar lacks atmosphere and we avoided it last year. Overall, the hotel felt like it had slipped with less attention to detail than 12 months ago. Changing the brand did not mean an enhancement in the offering. We will probably not go back next year to this particular resort, but will look at one of the other Barcello adult only hotels in the Canaries. We have some great memories and have affection for the place, but perhaps time to move on
