    “Nice resort, friendly staff”

We recently stayed 6 days at the resort, I read the reviews ahead of time and many were spot on. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the buffet was good and the staff very friendly. The restaurants must be reserved at 7am but we were close to the lobby so that wasn’t a huge deal and the food was not much better/different than the buffet. We got a couples massage which was awesome and economical. We took the R2 or R1 bus to the Hard Rock and a few other areas and felt very safe, don’t take a cab outside the resort, they are super expensive! The only downside was the beach, it is right by a causeway or marina and there are no waves, it’s very small. If you like long walks on the beach with crashing waves this is not your place, other than that the pool area was great. Drinks are watered down and there is an up charge for good ones but that is to be expected at an all inclusive. We used Ameristar for transportation to and from the airport and a deep sea fishing excursion and they were great! If you have an American Express card use it, it is charged in Pesos and the exchange rate is much better.

Nice place with nice atmosphere. Clean with friendly staff. The jacuzzi workout facility and steamroom were a great plus. The buffet was my favorite with plenty of variety and outdoor dining by the beach.

    “Nice resort, loved Cancun!”

My husband and I have never been to Cancun and we decided post-holiday was the perfect time to check it out. I booked the Occidental Costa Cancun due to its location, for the private beach and for it being all inclusive at a great price. While it’s not the largest resort and the amenities are somewhat limited, we were very pleased with this resort. The staff was very friendly and some of the restaurant/bar employees are just outstanding. Luis at the buffet restaurant is a total sweetheart and the service staff are so nice and work so hard. Every single employee makes it a point to hello to when you walk by. The restaurants were very good, there are 4 on site. Yes, you have to reserve your table at 3 of the restaurants that morning. This is not uncommon at all inclusive resorts and I’m a little surprised that so many people here complain about having to get up early to reserve a table. It’s not that serious, people. And if you don’t want to get up early on vacation, the buffet is perfectly acceptable and offers plenty of options. The beach and pool area are small but they’re very nice, they’re well maintained and they create more of a cozy, intimate feel than at a mega resort where there’s 5000 people fighting over 200 lounge chairs. We booked a parasailing excursion through the resort that we were very happy with. They had a lot of really fun excursions to offer and I would’ve done more if we’d had more time! It’s all very convenient because everything is right on site. Our room was really nice, very clean, always fresh towels and minibar restocked. Again, I don’t know where the complaints about infrequent room cleanings and the lack of restock are coming from because that was not our experience, nor the experience of anyone we talked to. There were a couple of things that would bump this from 4 to 5 stars: the lack of free WiFi was a little frustrating. That would add a ton of value. The gym was only open 7a to 9p. If you’re doing an excursion, they typically leave between 7 and 8am, so that left no time to get in a workout beforehand. I would’ve loved poolside food service. When I’m in a longe chair on the beach, I’m not very motivated to get up and walk into a sit down restaurant. Just a limited menu of salads and sandwiches available from the bars would’ve been amazing. And the constant need to supply entertainment at the pool and beach was kind of annoying. Most people come to these kinds of places to relax and enjoy the sun. I can’t relax when there’s music blasting and a resort employee attempting to pull me out of my lounge chair to do the limbo. Overall, we were very pleased with this resort and for the money we paid, you really aren’t going to find a better deal. It truly is all inclusive, you can leave your wallet behind, relax and enjoy!

    “Great girls trip”

the rooms were nice and clean. Buffet food was good. loved having 24/7 access to snack bar especially when we arrived late from tours. I would stay here again. I would just love to be able to check in, go into my room first then deal with the tours. after traveling all day, i wanted to go straight to my room grab a drink but we were not able too until we went through their hotel time share packages.

    “Second visit”

Our first trip was hot weather and warm water. This trip was cool windy weather and cold water. Time of year to visit is important . If there was a quiet place to go to read or play cards, it would be better. The loud music at the lobby, pool and beach were not to my liking
