    “DEFINITELY going back!! AMAZING!”

This place is incredible! We purchased a day pass to take advantage of the beach, drinks, food, and entertainment. We originally wanted to go to Mr. Sanchos, however it was booked. I have to admitted I was a little bummed until I got to this resort. Everything is so beautiful! The hotel staff was very friendly and directed us were to go. You walk down this path covered with beautiful palm tree, flowers, fountains, pools and you might even see an iguana. The beach was a little full due to 7 cruise ships being in port that day. There were no chairs available so I asked one of the employees. She had 4 lounge chairs to us within 3 mins and had them placed where ever we wanted on the beach. The drinks are awesome and so were the guys making the drinks. We rented a wave runner! SO FUN!! The employee brought it right to us on the beach and gave us instructions. We even got a hyena and the guys smoked Cuban cigars. Overall experience was just incredible! We will be back next year!

    “Worth repeating”

This was our second stay at this Occidental in 6 years. It’s in a great location, clean rooms and manicured grounds. We once again failed to get the room type we requested (king bed), so doubles again....the only other problem area is booking the specialty restaurants which there are 3 of. The early, before 9pm reservations were already booked in the computer, but ironically as we walked past these same venues they were at best 40% full. So I’m not sure what it takes to book these upscale restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful minus the reservation lady for the specialty restaurants, there seems to be a disconnect there. Great pools, beach and all around location on the southwest side of the island. We recommend and would go back....

    “Excellent stay with friends”

We loved our stay at the occidental Cozumel. The jungle atmosphere was fabulous. We saw many coati and iguanas throughout the resort. The rooms were large with comfy beds. We loved having the pool right beside the ocean so you had different options for swimming/lounging. The drink service at the beach was fantastic. We found the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family.

    “Occidental Cozumel”

Our family of four stayed 6 nights February 13-18, all inclusive. Transfer to hotel was easy. Reception, bars and store were very well organized. The grounds were beautiful and our kids (11 & 14) really enjoyed the natural elements - particularly the Coatis (raccoons) and iguanas. The walk from our room to the beach was a daily highlight. Other than the booming music all day long, the main pool was great (the usual early towel game to snag loungers grew old pretty quickly though.) The beach was lovely and we walked beyond the hotel limits north and south every day. Unfortunately high winds stirred up the local ocean making swimming/snorkeling a bust. As one of the central highlights, this was just bad luck. Dwellings were a pleasure. The architecture of the buildings is creatively designed and really nice to stay in. Room was large enough and very clean. We were placed initially in building 10, but this is right next to the evening event area so between 8.30-10pm this means thumping music. We asked to be moved and did so (on 3rd night) to building 16, which was much quieter. If you stay in either 10 or 11, participation in nightly events really isn't negotiable. Smoking is permitted in all outdoor spaces and according to our kids "is gross"! We agree. The staff were mostly very friendly and accommodating. Exceptions were the woman who books the "special" restaurants and the guys who hawk around trying at every turn to sell you stuff. Ignore them all. For all inclusive, the buffet breakfast and dinner were very good with lots of variety. Vegetarian protein options were very limited, however. We quickly came to the conclusion that all alcoholic drinks were heavily watered down (perhaps a blessing?) Breakfast omelets were superb. Coffee was utterly regrettable (bring your own) and wine options were limited and really dreadful. We booked the 3 thematic restaurants but quit after the seafood option, which was limited in terms of quality and variety, and returned to the buffet, which our kids loved. The beach-side restaurant was a great venue for lunch provided you arrive close to noon, after which lengthy cues and slim pickings were typical. We got the impression that the restaurant staff were totally overrun. Overall a really enjoyable vacation based on the exceptionally beautiful grounds, buildings, rooms, and the amenities of a beautiful beach and pool. If the wind is calm the snorkeling and swimming on site are excellent and a memorable part of the trip.

Overall really happy!! The "mexican" food could've used more flavour but the hot sauces definitely helped! Most of the food was really good but definitely some misses. Resturants couldn't take some of our reservations requests but we did manage to get in for all 3 (9:30 was really late for us). We also booked 1st thing the next morning of our arrival so we didnt think booking would be an issue. Everything was well maintained & clean. Biggest problem was the lounge chair situation. Not NEARLY enough & I also observed peoples things being taken off to give to others. Absolutely not ok. Get more of them. Drinks were great, service great but lobby bar did get slammed at night.
