    “Relaxing vacation on resort”

Beautiful property and staff is wonderful. Very quite and relaxing they offer spa they have a beautiful beach. The food is average they could improve in this area that's why I'm not giving them a 5. I'm very picky about clean and the staff doing a good job and grounds that's why im giving them a 4 star. They have made sure everything is how we want it. The bars at pools close at 5:30 but they don't chase you out of pools that's very rare you find that so we have been able to relax in pool later than ever before on a vacation. We don't drink that's the resin most resorts close pools down early is because of people drunk and the viability on the resort if something happens. Only down draw is we are time share holders we travel 4-5 weeks a year. The first club is the other side of resort from pools and first club and bathrooms. Has not been an issue for us as I knew to request building 19. Pool is right next to us. Beach 3 min away. It's alot of walking but we don't mind that. This has been the most relaxed vacation with great beach and staff. Rooms are very clean and service is prompt come and enjoying your looking for a big resort with alot of partying then I don't think this is for you. They do have a live band at least once and they have alot of activities to join. Seen some bad reviews for this property but I have none except food could be better

    “AMAZING IN EVERY WAY!!!”

It was all so amazing & we loved, loved, LOVED everything about it! The resort is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS - the beach, landscaping, buildings, rooms and pools. The sandy beach area was fabulous with plenty of palm trees and chaise lounges, plus some comfy cabanas The water is as clear and beautiful turquoise and blue as the pictures, if not more - and the perfect temperature to swim in. The swimming area of the ocean is very large and was never crowded. The only thing we were disappointed about was that you needed to go on a snorkeling excursion ($50) to see coral or colorful fish. Even though the reef was just out from the beach, you couldn't swim there; you had to take a boat. The resort is wonderfully secluded, and you could see nothing but beach and jungle as far as the eye could see down the coastline in both directions. To us, that was ideal - SO much better than seeing a row of resort after resort. Kayaks, small sailboats and snorkeling gear were included for 1 hour per day per guest. We went parasailing from the dock. Our rooms and the buildings they were in were exceptionally beautiful, and each building was surrounded by lush tropical landscaping for privacy and quietness. None had ocean views, but it didn't matter. How long are you in your room anyway? We wanted buildings that looked Mexican - not like a white-washed American hotel or hospital. The buildings were strikingly beautiful with colorful, Mexican-style architecture. The restaurants were all great and there was a nice selection of delicious food. Staff was friendly and very hard-working. There are lots of time-share salesmen wearing khaki. Just politely let them know you're not interested, and by the second day or so, they didn't approach us anymore. I've been telling everyone about the Occidental Cozumel and encouraging them to go. It exceeded our expectations in every way!!

“Excellent Staff, Awesome Rooms, Good Food, & Mosquitos were free”

Overall a very good property. Most all staff were excellent and very attentive; we had very good experience at the Breakfast and Dinner buffets where the grill cook and waiters were absolutely awesome. Food selection at Breakfast and Dinner buffets were plentiful. Lunch buffet at Beach Club was not as pleasant due limited food selection and not as attentive waiters(we were halfway done with our lunch before we got a drink). Al la carte dinner at Beach Club was surprisingly good with the exception of having to deal with Mosquitos but waiters did all they could to keep the Mosquitos away by lighting repellent torches. Landscapers do an excellent job of maintaining this property but be aware that it is carved into the jungle so running into iguanas and spanish racoons is not uncommon. Beach is excellent for those wanting to take a swim or a walk but don't expect to see many fish if you go snorkeling off the beach. Overall a very pleasant stay.

    “Excellent”

Beach and pool area was very clean and well kept. Beds and sheets very comfortable and rooms clean and quiet. Staff helpful and friendly. Check in a bit slow. A few too many mosquitos, but had heavy rains and I know the chemicals kill fish life.

    “Fantastic Hotel”

After lots of deliberation we booked 6 nights here at the Occidental for the end of our long Mexican adventure and we are so pleased with that decision, from the minute we arrived to the time we left everything was fantastic. We booked to stay in a Royal Level Suite, so upon arrival we were taken by buggy to a separate reception where everything was very personal and next to the reception desk was a bottle of sparkling wine on ice that we were told would be available 24 hrs a day for us to help ourselves to; what a great start! Our room was on the first floor of the block opposite the La Carreta restaurant, this isa specialist restaurant for Royal Level guests only, the food and service here were excellent, although the menu was very limited and did not change over the six days we were at the hotel. My suggestion would be to have a change of menu every 3-4 days. The room we had was 226, was very spacious, with extra large bed, desk, table and chairs, small balcony and big bathroom with separate bath & shower, the water had very good pressure and plenty of hot water. There is a mini bar that is stocked every day for soft drinks and every other day for alcoholic drinks, in addition to this room service is available for food between 11am & 10pm but drinks can be ordered outside of these times as well. There is also a small jacuzzi pool just next to La Carreta restaurant, a large adults only pool, with bar, as well as the large main pool near to the beach, cocktails are available all day from 10am, we tried most and found them all to be of good quality and tasty, if you want more rum or more fruit juice added just ask it is never a problem! We always found plenty of sun loungers around the pools and on the beach, waiters will regularly come around taking your order for drinks delivered to your lounger. (don't forget to tip the waiters they work hard for very little in wages) If you are looking for fine dining or gourmet food then an All Inclusive is not the place you should be staying, be realistic, it is a mass catering hotel, even the specialist restaurants, it is fine to expect good fresh tasty food but try to manage your expectations and you will not be disappointed at the Occidental!! During our stay we ate at all the different restaurants and found the quality of food to be very good, the buffet breakfast and lunch always offered a good variety to choose from, the paella deserves a special mention as it was excellent; it is also very popular (I think it may be on a day cruisers visit), so try to be a little earlier on this day. My only mild criticism of the food is the limited variety for evening meals, all the specialist restaurants had a very similar choice, plus some extras, more variety would be a huge bonus. We had a great stay at the Occidental and would highly recommend it to anyone, in our view the Royal upgrade is well worth the extra and will make your stay just that little bit more special.
