    “Horrendous Room, Cold Food & Poor Entertainment”

    We travelled to this hotel with Jet2 from Glasgow which was great, we arrived there on the 28/3/2019, staying for 10 days, at the point of booking we had emailed the hotel direct to advise that we were travelling with my elderly mother and asked if we could be roomed close together, they did reply to advise that they would do their best. On arrival at the hotel we were dropped off out front with another couple of families, when we spoke to the reception desk who didn't look that pleased to see us and were really less than helpful, we were advised that we were not in the hotel but rather the apartment block 200m away, OK no problem you would think, we dragged the luggage over to B block where we were meet with another face like thunder employee who then threw us a curveball and advised that my room was here but my mother was back to the hotel, so clearly the reception at the hotel didn't even bother looking at the complete booking. We were told that there was no other availability, but when we challenged this, and after around 30 mins we were allocated rooms on floor seven room 716 and 719, which we were delighted about....until we actually got to the rooms my word they were horrific, this is 100% NOT a 4-star accommodation by any stretch of the imagination, it would be 2 star possibly at best. There was wood panelling peeling off the walls the sofa bed was totally goosed, and the bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard, it was ridiculously small and the air-con didn't work, they also didn't provide a free room safe, it was 29 Euro and 10 Euro deposit, unfortunately this really did spoil the first day or two of the holiday. The hotel grounds are really pristine and beautiful, they did seem to have more people working on the hotel grounds that in the buffet restaurant, we spent most of our time around the apartment block pool which was peaceful and spotlessly clean, there they have a small side section for the all-inclusive, at the Aloha 37 during the day for drinks and snacks, there was also an adult section with hot tubs which is a nice touch, although we didn't use them as were there with kids. The buffet restaurant may I suggest isn't really geared for the UK visitor, in my opinion of course, although personally I always found something, but others particularly the kids struggled somewhat and they really are not fussy eaters, the general consensus of our party was it could have been better quality and was pretty much always mildly warm to cold and had to be microwaved. There were some nice touches, like the bean to coffee machines and wine from the bottle. The clearing staff in the restaurant, unlike the reception, were really hard working and always smiling under really trying circumstances, there were only around 3-4 people clearing and at times it was bedlam in there, like a school food hall. We did visit the Aloha 37 ala carte restaurant once (only one visit allowed) and it was lovely, the food was great and the lad serving us was brilliant, everyone of the party was really impressed and was the dining highlight for us. The two pool areas were spotless and a credit to the hotel that was definitely one of the few highlights of our stay, our girls had a ball. Now the "entertainment" I wasn't expecting alot, but it was the worst we have ever experienced... anywhere, the kids in charge of the “entertainment”, Angel and the rest were happy and friendly and another credit to the hotel but the actual entertainment was diabolical, it was that bad it was funny, which is a real shame, the kids entertainment was on while everyone was in the buffet restaurant, which might have been a clever ploy by the hotel, the adult "entertainment" came on at 9.30pm and went on until 10.15pm if you were very lucky. The bar staff were excellent, so really all the employees we interacted with other than the reception were friendly and a credit to the hotel. So in summary we paid almost £6,000 for the 10 days for our party, we were expecting the rooms in the brochure and on their website, they were not even close more like a hostel room, we would have complained further but due to having my mother with us we were just grateful we were together in the same hotel, the food was poor and cold, the reception staff were possibly the most unfriendly I have ever encountered. The plus points are the grounds, the Aloha 37 restaurant, the pool area. It really should not be allowed to show these lovely rooms then you get what we were allocated. There were other guests with the exact same opinion as us so I don't think we were being unnecessarily critical, we will be back to Gran Canaria but definitely not this hotel.     “Fabulous break”

    Had a fabulous break at occidential margaritas .Fran the Guest Relations Manager was really helpful making our stay a memorable one. Had some issues which Fran resolved immediately cant thank him enough. This hotel is much better now stayed a few years back and enjoyed it but even better now. Plenty for the kids to do and pools are great. Food and entertainment good too. Just a really good week.

    “Fab holiday !!”

    Great holiday with family and friends. Good range of food. Entertainment could have been better but the children enjoyed it. Top pool was warmer than lower one, shame no balls or inflatables were allowed. Snack bar open all day so easy to get food.

    “Last minute trip”

    Booked this as a last minute and have to say it’s canny! The all inc is impressive, the snack bar during the day is really good. All of the meals have been lovely and my husband loves the porridge at breakfast!! It’s a great hotel but maybe a little too busy and breakfast tends to be heaving. It’s only 20 mins walk from the beach and relatively near to bars if you want a change of scenery (we did as we didn't bring the kids and the entertainment is family orientated, but still good). There isn’t the usual banging and clattering on a morning so if you want a lie in you can. There is a nice sunbathing area away from the pool, which is a lot quieter too. We stayed in room 320 and it’s a nice location overlooking the pool and restaurant
