    “Safe, Clean, but Unfriendly reception”

    I stayed for work based at IFEMA. I took a taxi everyday because it was faster than public transport. The hotel reception staff is unfriendly (no hello or goodbye upon entering and leaving the premises) and lack etiquette when communicating with clients. There is no service to help you with your bags so best to travel light. I was shocked to learn the restaurant was closed on public holidays. The reception advised me to travel to the city for a meal. I ordered online using Deliveroo instead. I asked for hot water since there is no kettle available but the reception told me since the restaurant is closed they cannot give me any hot water. I thought that was unprofessional. The room is clean, comfortable and well equipped with amenities, however no body lotion. I forgot mine and my skin got very dry during the winter. There are spare towels in the wardrobe and a steamer iron you can use, however no room slippers. It costs 5 euros to get room slippers! The gym was well equipped and the snack bar was great with sweets, juice and fruits daily. I did not know how to operate the air-conditioning in my room (no one introduced me to the room) so I kept playing with it to try and be at a comfortable temperature. The breakfast spread had great variety and the staff were very helpful and kind. Not all staff can speak English well, but I know some basic Spanish. If you don't know Spanish, your stay will not be as comfortable. The rooms are not sound proof so I could hear all the noise in the corridor and from the adjacent room which was disturbing in the night and early morning. The bed however was very comfortable. The save and protect environment initiative was great, but my sign disappeared after a few days of use. Maybe they don't want to give you too much discount? However at the end of my stay nothing was deducted from my bill by using the initiative. I was in a a hurry to leave for the airport so did not ask them about it.

    “Great Hotel in Madrid”

    We were a couple from South Africa in search of a comfortable and clean 4* hotel. We were very happy with the service of Occidental Madrid Este. The rooms had comfy mattresses, clean bedding and a towel heater in the bathroom. The furnishing of the room was of high quality. About 40min bus and train ride out of the city center so the location is not great if you’d like to be near the attractions of Madrid. We did not take the breakfast option as the hotel is not halaal but we did order coffee each morning which was great. The stay was lovely, close to the airport but far from the city center.

    A lovely hotel in the East side of Madrid. Staff was extremely friendly and the hotel is very clean and looks very new. A good variety at breakfast to get you starting the day. Metros are walking distances so theres no problem at all to get to the main high streets

    “Decent value for money”

    Everything was fine. Polite staff, well equipped, good amenities. Food was also alright. Location is not that bad either. There is a bus going to IFEMA if you need and metro to the city centre is fairly close. If I had to complain, here it is: I asked to turn the sauna on twice. The first time, the temperature was set to 45 degrees and the thermostat was key locked. The second time, I asked specifically to set the temperature at least to 80 degrees, but again it was set to 45. Please fix this, the finnish sauna only makes sense in 80-100 degrees.

    “Top quality hotel ”

    Lovely hotel with great service Front desk are helpful and professional and accommodating when I wanted to practise my Spanish! Room was modern, clean and comfortable Bar area is small but well stocked and service is good - there are many places to eat locally too Plenty of space to work in the lobby too - which they are very happy to allow

    “Great Hotel in Madrid”
