    “We did not like it.”

Our room was very dirty and the sheets had not been changed from the previous customer. Buffet was ok not great. The Italian and Japanese were great. Seafood restaurant horrible. Mainly we felt very uncomfortable in the room. Bathroom was very tiny. The door to it was in bad shape. Patio door glass filthy. .Headboard had splatters on it :(

    “Barcelo Aruba”

Barcelo Aruba is a great place to stay and relax on the greatest beach in the world. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The beach and pool area were top notch, clean and inviting. We would liked to see more of the island but it was too hard to leave resort.

    “Mostly Good at Barcelo”

My wife and I decided on this hotel based on some of the reviews. Much was correct and there was much good but also some room for improvement by this Hotel. We arrived abotu 5 p.m. Saturday and were checked in after waiting about 5 minutes. While I was waiting I asked about wifi password. Was told you only get 1 hour per day free in the lobby and if you want more you need to pay. Nowhere in the literature did it say that! Said free wifi in lobby. Was handed a daily plan to use wifi in our room. When I asked why their literature doesn't tell you about 1 hour free per day I was told this is a Barcelo mandate, not the local hotel. Pushing further I was told if I wanted to go by the Casino they have wifi and I can use that for free. Didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy to start the trip. After check in we went to our room which was small but very clean and comfortable. Very nice compared to other all inclusive hotels we have visited in the Caribbean. Room included a mini fridge that was to be refilled daily (or every other day). Had water, local beer and soda. Had to ask on 3 occasions to get more diet soda. In the room was a plate of nice chocolates and a bottle of wine compliments of the hotel package we booked through Delta Vacations. Nice touch. We were to get an ocean view room. While you could technically see the ocean if you looked far off to the right through the window, I wouldn't call this an ocean view room. This is a small (area wide) hotel which is good and bad. Very nice to go anywhere on property in less than 5 minute walk. Guess because it is small they don't have beach area bar or snacks. Beach area was well kept and very nice. Plenty of chairs to be had at all times which was great! Pool area was very nice and clean. Plenty of chairs but no way to get one in the sun. Very nice beds there with a canopy top around the pool area. Unfortunately people put towels down early in the day and were not there most of the time. Hotel needs to police and remove towels from beds (and chairs in the sun) that aren't being used each hour. This is very unfair to other guests who want to lay out and can't From what we found (We were here for 8 nights), there were a few people here with Children but most were couples above the age of 50. Would say the average age was 55 plus. Most children here were very little, below 5 years of age. Property has 2 bars. One the lobby bar and the other a pool bar. Pool bar is very busy and you need to wait sometimes 5 to 10 minutes to get served. That bar has 2 sides, one you are served in the water and that was served quick. The land side was ignored too often (the side we used). There was someone serving people by the pool and occasionally by the beach (taking orders and bring the drinks to you) which was nice. Dining was good. There are two buffets for Breakfast and lunch, one is by the pool. There was good choice at the main buffet for breakfast and a lesser amount at the pool buffet. Dinner was at the main buffet which had theme nights or you can make reservations at one of 4 themed alacart restaurants (Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Seafood). All were decent and service was very good at the themed restaurants. For themed restaurants you may only eat at each once if you stay a week and must make reservations in the lobby area. Reservations can be made when you arrive and I would suggest doing so early in your stay to get times you want. There was entertainment nightly which frankly was hokey. We went to that 3 nights and one of those nights walked out. Anything from battle of the sexes, Jump, Dance Party etc. Not up to all inclusive standards but nice. By the lobby bar there is a small casino where you can gamble if you choose. My wife likes slot machines and she was happy as she won 3 nights we went. Not much but she left with $10 t0 $30 winnings each night. As mentioned there are good and bad at this hotel. Here are a few items for each: Good: Food was above average and we enjoyed. Room was very clean, including the bathroom that was excellent with no dirty grout and a nice rain shower head in the shower. Hotel workers were extremely nice anytime you passed them they had a smile and would always say hi and ask how you liked Aruba. The hotel is well maintained. Every day there was someone washing windows, watering each plant, painting, repairing something. Well kept hotel! There is shopping inside the hotel but also right across the street. While we took a taxi into town, we ended up buying most sourvenirs at the many stores within a 3 block area across the street from the resort. Cons: Poor bar service at Pool bar (lobby bar much better). No food available after 10 p.m. though you could order something at the lobby bar (so they say but no menu or anything available). Hotel would not allow you to take a plate and eat at the pool or beach. There was no way to eat except in the restaurants. I was yelled at when I tried to take a plate with a burger to my room. Was told "I will let you do so but you must put it on a napkin. I explained I was getting cheese fries and couldn't put that on the napkin. Finally they allowed me "this one time" to take a plate to our room if I promised not to again and didn't sit at the pool. WOW. I didn't appreciate this nor did I appreciate not being able to have a late snack if I wanted. No way to have a snack at the pool or beach. Sorry but this doesn't sit well with me. Charging for wifi if you want to use it more than 1 hour a day. Mini fridge wasn't restocked unless we asked. One night's entertainment was canceled without notice. It had been printed on the daily activity sheet but didn't happen. When I asked I was told it was for the hotel holiday party. Understand but why print it then cancel? They knew the party was happening. They pulled the activity schedule sometime early that afternoon so no one would see there was no entertainment. Frankly I would have been fine if they had just been honest. Printed daily activities may or may not happen. Each day it said bingo at the lobby bar I believe at 6 p.m., it never happened. When asked they said "we announce it but if no one comes we don't do it". Not true, they never announce. There were other activities they just don't do. All they need do is leave them off their daily activities report but they don't. I talked to the G.M. mid week about these issues and he wrote them down. He was nice and seemed to care. After our talk he asked for our room number and name. Gave it to him but nothing came of it. At least he was nice. All in all we did enjoy the 8 days here. My rating would have been 3.5 our of 5 but you can't do that on the rating. Overall good resort. Employees at this hotel, were very nice nicer than any all inclusive resort we have every stayed at! We like Aruba and may return to the area but will most likely try another all inclusive.

    “Royal Club Restaurant”

We absolutely love the staff in the Royal Club restaurant. At breakfast we have the best service from Melvin. Sylvester, Maria and Lissette. We never have to wait and they always know how we like our coffee. Dinners are always fabulous with George, Joyce and Ederlina. Everyone makes us feel like family and we enjoy all of them so much. Great Job to all! Sincerely Randi and Joe Orsillo
