“Don’t come to the Dominican. Save your money and go to Mexico ”

Unfortunately we had a extremely bad experience here. A family friend held their wedding here which was even worse. There was a lot that went wrong but rather then spend a long time typing stuff out I will stick to a few majors mistakes. 1- Staff service- it was very clear that the staff are not thrilled to have Americans on their island. I’ve traveled to resorts in many different countries and nowhere have I felt less welcome than here. I understand they may have some reasons for the animosity but it got to the point that staff wouldn’t answer simple questions like when the restaurant opened or where are the bathrooms. 2- For the wedding, the bride and groom paid a lot of extra money to have “top shelf” alcohol served. Mainly because the alcohol on the resort is very cheap but that’s most all-inclusive and I have no problem with that! The issue was that while they displayed the Grey Goose/ jack Daniels/ etc. the staff refused to serve it to use at the wedding. This was clear deception by the resort. The bride and groom didn’t even realize this until the next morning when everyone was saying they didn’t get the good alcohol. 3- The boat cruise we scheduled was a disaster too. Not because our boat was bad but because the resort refused to let us on. I don’t know why but for some reason the resort REFUSED to let our shuttle bus on the property to pick us up and take us to the marina (this is a 50 person bus the whole wedding was going on). It was total BS but we said whatever and had the catamaran come to the beach and would pick all 50 of us up there. Well we get to the beach and now then the resort security refuses to let us board the boat. The security team only spoke Spanish in front of use but from what our boat people told us, the resort was refusing to let us on “since we didn’t use one of their recommended catamaran companies”. It was a cherry on top and great way to finish our last day of the trip.... NOT. Long story short, go to Mexico. They are 1000X more friendly and the food/resorts are much nicer. Riu Santa Fe in Cabo was one of my favorites.

    “Wonderful hotel”

I came here with my wife for our honeymoon and it can't be better. This hotel is amazing in everything, we stayed for 10 days and we enjoyed every day of them. They have so much activities you can enjoy. Every day at 10pm there is a free show in the theater in the middle of the hotel. There is a sports bar with a lot of games. Some tips 1. For the restaurants, we loved the Spanish, Italian, Santa fe and Coral the most, we didn't like at all the Mexican ( food was too much oily and not tasty) and the Japanese. 2. Take some formal clothes with you as you are not allowed to enter most of the restaurant with casuals such as shorts. 3. Important one : take some Mosquitoes killer machine ... In one day I had maybe 10 Mosquito bites and every day more and more. 4. In our package it says that all the ocean activities that don't include fuel are for free as boats and water surfing BUT when you try to use them you will be told that you have to take a course which is NOT for free. For the rooms ... our room was nice but a bit old.

Trip was very fun, we had a lot of fun and had great bar service from Everlyn. She was very fast at delivering our drinks and did it with a smile every time. We will be back for sure, the entertainment was very funny and enjoyable.

“Casino is rigged and it is obvious, don’t go to gamble. It is not regulated like Vegas. So beware.”

Employees are not happy and they feel they are being taken advantage of by the company and they let you know it. Food is average but they act like the restaurant is 5 star when in reality it’s food is a 2 or 3. Not bad but not great either. Once is enough for me.

    “2nd visit to Barcelo Bavaro”

We're a family of 4 with 2 kids, ages 4 & 9. Our kids loved the waterpark last year so we decided to come again this year. We just returned on Friday from a week at Barcelo. The beach was much more maintained this year with the seagrass removal this year than last year. The crews worked throughout the day to remove it this year, which was great. We had a different room this year as we had the suite last year. Our room only included one sofa/bed and 2 double beds, but we managed. The train is a huge hit with our kids. We went to the pirate island one day (extra $$) and enjoyed our day going down waterslides. Overall, we had a great trip and I'm sure we'll return!
