    “Amazing team”

Stayed a week in Barcelo Maya for a Congress. Loved the team and the energy they give you! I recommend visiting the tennis courts and doing the aerobics in the morning! Special thanks to Daniel Munoz, Cesar, Abdiel, Dammy, Bryan and Marisol! I had a great time, thank you so much!

    “Awesome ride with Moses”

Normally we take the collectivo into playa for a “real” Mexican experience. This time we were convinced by Moses to take the barcelo taxi into town. Moses dropped us off at a great local restaurant with real Mexican prices. Excellent meal, excellent prices, excellent experience. THANKS MOSES.

    “Family Vacation”

My family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teens, enjoyed our vacation. I had emailed and asked for rooms next to each other, near the beach and on the top floor, and I was given exactly that. Room 6312 was a good one! The air conditioning worked well in each room (a tip- the AC goes off when the balcony door is open!) and both rooms were clean. We did tend to leave tips for the maid and the restocking of the fridge. We snorkeled every day. Each day was different. went out close to the Palace end of the beach and to the ropes that outlined the swimming area and saw many fish and sea turtles. We The last day was very calm and we went snorkeling off the dock- the fish UNDER the dock were incredible. You must do this!!!! We brought water shoes and snorkels with us. I would recommend that. The food at the hibachi restaurant was good- but avoid the lobster, it was overcooked and rubbery. The chef's show was great and we all had a good time! We did not care for the dinner at the Italian restaurant. I wish we had tried a different one, but we were there 5 nights so only had the option to eat at 2 restaurants. They served turkey on Thanksgiving! We ate the the Colonial buffet for all breakfasts and the food was good, as long as you were interested in going to the different stations and building your own meal. They made me cappuccino the last 2 mornings and I wish I had tried those earlier. Also, the smoothie bar was delicious. You definitely will walk a lot at the resort. It was 1.5 miles to and from our room to the buffet! Go to bingo at 2pm at the Tropical pool. You could win some cool prizes. All in all, we loved our stay. People were friendly and the beaches were beautiful and the pools were lots of fun. I would go back, but know that the food is just OK while the scenery was amazing.

“Really wanted to love this place...”

I’m in my room on our last night here. We stayed 7 nights. The pools and beach are the best I’ve seen in Mexico. The service was excellent as well. Many helpful people at every turn. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are decent. We stayed in a premium room at the Colonial. They are closest to the beach and face the pools but BEWARE. It is the loudest place I have ever been too. Wed-sun there were weddings and the reception was right across the pool from our room. Music until at least midnight thumping away. I felt like I was at a bar. Finally, no wedding on Sunday but don’t worry. There was a group of extremely drunk and loud people swimming right outside our room at 4:00 am. This is the same time 3 out of us 4 began having severe diarrhea, with my son also vomiting. Us 3 ate the fish at the seafood restaurant and the 4th person did not. Monday I ended up calling the resort Dr because my son could not stop vomiting and diarrhea. She charged $150 to give him some anti nausea meds and say if he doesn’t improve to take him to the hospital. Monday a huge convention rolled in and has taken over. The last two nights all I hear is yelling and screaming and “shots”. I have never gone anywhere where I have paid this much money and not had one night of decent sleep. I’ve also been to many adults only resorts and seen much better behaved people. Many loud and annoying drunks and I’m American!! My son is still sick and can’t sleep due to all the commotion. I’d rather pay less and be farther away from the pools. The food here not good. It’s obvious they reuse the unconsumed foods the next day. I wish I could take Excellence Riviera Maya and put it on this location. That would be perfect. Don’t come here. Go someplace else.
