    “Beautiful hotel great views”

Great hotel, quiet and has stunning views the staff are excellent and really go out of there way for you. Brilliant holiday if you just want to relax by the pool the food is great and the beach is just across the road. The only thing I didn’t like was the open plan bathroom facilities I like a private bathroom.

“Fantastic BUT €30 a day to use a canopied sun bed?!!!!”

We recently stayed at the Barcelo for 12 nights in a Junior suite with sea view, B&B. The hotel is in a lovely quiet spot overlooking a beach and gorgeous sea view. It's a beautiful hotel which is nicely decorated throughout in a minimal scandi style. The rooms are lovely and the bedding and towels are great. Breakfasts are delicious. The pools are really nice with the perfect temperature for swimming in June. Sun beds are clean and for the first time at any hotel I've stayed, not reserved with towels every day by guests - brilliant. Staff all great. However, After a few days of our stay, signs appeared on the double 'Balinese' sun beds saying that you had to pay €30 a day to use them (this included some Cava). Previously these were open to everyone to use. I have never stayed in a hotel anywhere where you have to pay to use a simple sun bed by the pool, and this left us with a very bad feeling about our stay. We and other guests were very confused by the signs, since they depicted a sun bed with cotton curtains and cushions like those in the spa area, not the boring grey ones by the pool, so people sat on them, only to then be told to pay €30 or get off by bar staff - horrible! We saw a young pregnant lady and her partner debate whether they could afford to stay on the bed - the only area of shade by the pool for her - this simply cannot be right!! As a result the beds stayed mainly empty for the rest of our stay. We saw so many guests who were confused and irritated by this and think this was a very bad idea for the sake of making a few extra euros. This would put me off of revisiting the hotel and I am sure it would others too - not what you'd expect from a hotel of this standard.

Dear HappyCamper6214, we thank you for taking time to share your experience in our hotel. We are proud that both the facilities and the privileged situation in which our hotel is located, have been to your liking. Regarding Balinese beds, it is a service that in the low season is free of cost but in high season involves an expense since it is part of special packages that contain, bottles of champagne, massages, meals, cocktails, fruits, ice cream and many more things. We greatly regret that this change has affected your stay and we apologize for any inconvenience caused and also remember that this only affects the Balinese beds since all our sun beds and umbrellas are free for our guests. We hope that in your next visit to Ibiza, you decide again for our hotel and we will be delighted to welcome you again at the Barceló Portinatx as our guest. Many thanks and best regards from the white island. Sergio Ocaña Guest Experience Manager

    “Wonderful stay”

Myself & my best friend saved to stay here for her big birthday mini break & it didn’t disappoint at all. It felt treaty & the view was beautiful (we upgraded to sea view.) We went for the all inclusive option & the food choices were fabulous, more a la crate at lunch time than buffet style. Excellent choices for breakfast, dinner was buffet with quality over quantity which suited us. Drinks were branded. Only one issue is that the beach restaurant isn’t all inc, 50% off though. Lovely staff, friendly & attentive. Room was funky, we did pretty much live out of our suitcases though as there’s no drawers & little hanging space. Shower was hot & powerful. Toilet not very private, a little style over substance. Bed was huge & comfortable, nice bed linen & towels. Great choice of TV channels. Pool towels were plentiful as were beds. Nice pool area & bar, very chilled & quiet. Quality evening entertainment, Latin beats. 10 minute walk to the Ibiza bus, worth a day trip out to the town.

    “All style no substance”

It’s taken me three weeks to write this review as I wanted to allow some time to elapse to ensure that my review was objective and accurate - in my view of course!! It is disappointing to mark this hotel with three stars as I always research a hotel before booking and in this case I even drove up from the south last October to look at the hotel before booking. To start with the hotel is smart , very clean and in a good location next to a small beach at the very northern tip of Portinatx. The northern area of Ibiza is lovely , lots of pretty coves and beaches and only half an hour from Ibiza Town. The hotel seems to be made up of three blocks, A,B & C. Block A houses the major hotel functions- restaurant , kitchens etc as well as many bedrooms on five levels. We stayed in block A and this was the most disappointing aspect of our stay. To get in and out of your room you have to use an external walkway and staircase , overlooking the grotty car park and passing the staff and kitchen entrance with food deliveries coming and going and staff loitering smoking etc. This really is not pleasant , the walkways and staircases are slippery when wet and on one occasion we had to listen to the English yoga instructor belittling the guests who had just attended her class, as well as coping with all the smoking. My advice is demand a room in B or C block , you will use the internal resort staircase and all of the above will be out if your sight. The rooms are on the face of it great, they are large, modern and clean , however wardrobe space is limited and there is absolutely no drawer space whatsoever, which leaves you living out if your suitcase- not good. Housekeeping was good from a cleaning point if view, but erratic at replacing items such as coffee pods and shower gel. Breakfast was buffet style and ok - dining room is however on the small side with tables too close together, making busy times unpleasant due to the cramped environment. The staff were lovely with only one exception - Josep in the pool bar- who was unpleasant. The two pool areas were nice with the lower pool housing the pool bar. The decked area next to the pool bar was dangerously slippery when it rained. Another disappointment was the fact that the hotel beach club was closed when we were there , one of the reasons that we booked!! Top tip Don’t stay in block A A disappointment for me , I hope that you have a better experience

    “Quite a dull hotel”

Not a lot going on around the hotel and the worst music played all day by the pool. Big hotel but no gym or any sports to do what so ever. The breakfast that is included is just the same old things everyday and never changed. It’s a lot of money for not a great deal and I won’t be going back.

Dear Z9158OUchrisf, First of all, we regret that your expectations have not been met 100%. Your comments are of great importance to us in order to continue improving our services and facilities. The location of our hotel is certainly away from the noise and stress that can be found in other areas of the island, that is what makes our hotel a special place to relax and disconnect from the routine. Concerning music, we reproduce music according to our hotel style, chill out, soul, jazz ... music to enjoy the moment and relax in our pools. As for the gym, we have a project to equip our hotel with a gym and we hope that soon we can also offer that service to our guests. Meanwhile, we offer every day yoga or pilates class and weekly trekking to different points in the area. Regarding our breakfasts, we offer our B-Like breakfasts that include natural, organic, seasonal and local ingredients to offer a rich, healthy, varied, quality breakfast. We regret that your stay this time at our hotel has not been as expected and we hope that in the future you will give us an opportunity and enjoy all the services, services and facilities we offer.
