    “Amazing as always!”

    This was my 12th time staying at the resort, and it never disappoints! The positive experience begins with Belinda in the first club check in, who greets you with a smile and an attitude which tells you she will do everything she can to make your stay memorable and worry free! No matter how many times we asked her questions or needed help with something, Belinda was a pleasure to work with! Claudia in the buffet is our favorite server; she greets us with a smile, hug and kiss every morning, and makes us feel like family. Zoltina , the same! Hugs and kisses all around, making the dining experience wonderful! We are very fortunate to have made wonderful friends at the resort; and Jane, of HR, has truly become like family! Jane always makes it a point to see us and share a meal, and catch up on the year that has passed. This year, thanks to Sandra's hospitality in the Royal Club, we were invited to have dinner in their wonderful restaurant. We were well taken care of by Rendy, our server, who happily dealt with a table full of giddy friends! We were joined by Aurelia, the quality control manager, who we now call a friend! How could our stay be any better? We can hardly wait to return next year and do it all over again! There are wonderful, quality people working at the Barcelo Aruba!

    “Happy time on One Happy Island!”

    I just returned from another wonderful visit to Aruba and the Barcelo Resort. The weather was wonderful and the staff (as always) was amazing. Special recognition goes to Claudia, Zoltina, Belinda, Elmo and Rendy who all helped us in their own special ways. My friends and I always feel so special especially when greeted with hugs and kisses everyday-it never gets old!

    “Second visit”

    We first visited this resort when it was the Occidental 2 years ago. We were looking forward to returning, as we enjoyed it last time around. Royal Club- This time, we spent the extra money for the Royal Club, and were very happy we did so. Check in was easy, and everyone who works in the Royal Club was a pleasure to deal with, especially Sandra. Our flight unfortunately had gotten cancelled on the way there, and Barceló was very accommodating to deal with in rescheduling. We ate one night in the Royal Club, and while we didn't necessarily love the food, we had great service with Harold. Our favorite part was the shot he made for us after dinner. We also visited the Royal Club for drinks one night, and ordered drinks to the room another night. They offer top shelf liquor which was nice, Jack Daniels, Grey Goose, etc. Perhaps our favorite part of the Royal Club was the beach bar, which was so convenient for waters and drinks (loved the ginger ale). Beach and pool- It doesn't get much better than this resort. The beach is beautiful, and we had our palapa reserved for us everyday. My fiancé loved dealing with Frank on the beach. The beach really never got too crowded. We took walks down to the Marriott as well as down to the Divi Pheonix, and feel that Barceló's beach was one of the best. One of the nicest features is the floaties you can rent (for free) everyday from Coconuts. The pool area is also really nice, love the pool bar, and the iguanas sunbathing. We didn't go in the pool as much towards the end of our trip as we found it got very crowded. Also, most of the pool chairs were taken early every day, and we had an issue with someone taking our chair and towel. The beach always had open chairs and palapas, so we didn't mind just hanging on the beach. Restaurants- One major difference we noted from our visit 2 years ago was the food quality is not the same, with a few exceptions. Our favorite restaurant was definitely the Japanese, so we ate there twice. We didn't do the hibachi, although it looked fun. We wanted a quicker dinner so we could walk around across the street more. We also ate at the Mexican restaurant which I loved last time, and didn't care for this time. They don't use enchilada sauce, instead use something that tasted like canned tomato sauce? We were excited to try the Italian restaurant, as we loved it last time, but were disappointed when we looked over the menu and saw many changes. They no longer have my fiancé's favorite chicken parm, and we heard from others the food wasn't as good. We also skipped the Caribbean restaurant, as that was the only restaurant we didn't like last time (I don't eat seafood). The breakfast buffet was pretty good, with a wide variety of options. We loved having Claudia as our server every morning, she is so sweet. The buffet for lunch and dinner was just ok. One night we ate off the resort, and was probably our best meal of the trip. Then again, I don't really go to Aruba for the food :) Rooms- We got upgraded to a suite, and it was great. Room was very clean, AC worked fine, and our view was okay. Housekeeping came everyday and night for turndown service and our fridges were always stocked with water and drinks. Loved the bathroom with 2 showers! Drinks- No complaints here. Didn't find the drinks watered down or too strong. Our favorites were the Aruba Aribas from the pool bar, the Japanese special green fruit punch at the restaurant, the dirty bananas from the beach bar, and the top shelf liquor and shots at the Royal Club. Overall I would recommend this resort as the location is awesome with shops and restaurants across the street and an awesome beach. The food isn't the best but this resort is still one of the more budget friendly ones.

    “2nd times a charm .Can't wait to go back”

    What a difference eight months makes we had a wonderful time at The Barcelo Aruba. Before I begin know this, I take my time with my reviews because I am so tired of only hearing the ugly. When I travel to unknown locations I look so hard for honest full reviews and that is what I want to give you. This may be long but I write about the good and the bad in every resort I go to. If you would like to read my 1st review about the Barcelo Aruba in December see here. In all fairness please remember that when we went in December it was only a week or so that they turned over the Occidental to Barcelo. I had called ahead many months in advance to give them time to make the arrangements that I would like. I definitely would advise you to do the same but as I was told it cannot be the day before you are arriving. A great big shout out to Martin for making my dinner reservations for every night that I was there and also for including his entire team to make sure our rooms were what we wanted. He is so very helpful. Thank you Jenny for making sure our rooms were ready. We had a small problem with the room (just bed size) and they gave us another room immediately. This caused no inconvenience to us. Every employee there had a smile on their face and some were actually very funny and had us laughing especially at breakfast. I feel bad that I can not remember all their names (I tried) One of the waiters from the Palm breakfast Buffet came out with a water gun to scare off the birds and began singing to my husband. He lightened the mood considering the bird flew into my husband plate and then pooped on his back. The wait Service at the beach was excellent four of the five days we were there. My guess would be added employees are scheduled for the weekend or that Franklin was just great. There is a problem only having two bars. Sometimes the wait for your drinks was a long. All the bartenders work hard but the pool bar is packed and they can only move so fast. Losing the beach Bar is huge. A good tip is to bring your own large travel cup with a lid that will keep your drinks cold. This tip was a game changer for us .You do not have to go to the bar as often. My Tervis cups worked great. The food: Listen it is not all fine dining. They are cooking for so many people. That being said we enjoyed most meals. My Favorites in order Japanese Mexican Italian Palm Breakfast Palm Lunch Snack at the Beach restaurant for late afternoon snacks (wish there was take out) I did not enjoy the seafood restaurant at all but in fairness my husband thought it was fine. The pool: Gorgeous and clean and the staff amazing and friendly and the pool bar is fun in the afternoons and before dinner. Bartenders work very hard and still remain very friendly. The bad There is not enough room to accommodate the guests. It is very hard to find a lounge chair unless you want to be greedy and save them in the morning, even if you had no intentions of using it for 5 hours. So many guests did that. We would see empty chair after empty chair with a towel on it with no people in them for hours. We were up very early but did not feel that it would be fair to save space at the pool if we knew we would be out or at the beach for 4 to 5 hours. But because of that we did not have a place to sit when we came off the beach. THE BEACH: AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME . I love this beach so very much. It my favorite beach so far. The bad: Forget about a Palpa or huts. I have no idea how these supposedly no save huts are always taken but they are. We would come down at 8:00 grab chairs and save them while we went to breakfast. That was fine. I don’t need one of the huts so it really doesn’t bother me. However if I wanted to travel with my son’s babies that would be a huge problem for us and would need to know the secret on how to get one up front. Sum it up Great friendly people, clean and beautiful grounds, food is just fine. I can’t wait for a chance to go back. Sitting at my desk writing this and waiting for Franklin to ask “another Margarita?”

    “Best Place ever”

    Second time there but definitely not our last. Beach and pool are great, food is great and the staff is so accommodating no matter what you need. you almost feel like you are staying with family. When you go to a restaurant, they always remember you and are so happy to see you returning.
