    “Nine nights in Beautiful Aruba”

I am usually very easy going when it comes to all inclusives and I travel to them about four times a year. I will definitely advise to visit Aruba if you have not yet been there but not necessarily stay at the Barcelo unless you get a great deal. Our room safe when we arrived did not work, the room stunk of cigarettes and the ceiling in the shower was falling down. I discussed with the front desk and they were excellent. Very professional staff however, did not have anything available for three days. I told them that was fine and they were very gracious. The buffet is well below average. I had a hard time eating any of the food except for the fruit which was not as fresh as I expected. You have to eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and therefore, we left the resort often to eat more edible food. Everything is within walking distance or a short bus ride for just under 2.50 per person. The dinners were excellent. The Japanese restaurant, the Italian restaurant, the Seafood restaurant and the mexican restaurant were all very good. One of the problems at the resort is mismanagement. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. They ran out of alcohol and beer almost every day. Then they decided that people were not allowed to have their insulated mugs filled anymore. Instead they would waste two or three plastic cups to make you two or three drinks and then you have to dump them in your insulated mug yourself. What a disaster. There is very little to almost non-existent entertainment. Both at the pool and at the ballroom in the evening. If you do not plan excursions and tours you will most likely get bored at this resort. However, if you get the all inclusive for close to the price of a regular hotel in Aruba it would be well worth it because location is good and you can always eat out at the fabulous restaurants around the Barcelo. The Soprano bar right across the street is very entertaining in the evening with the piano bar. Aruba is gorgeous and a definite must visit island.

    “Beautiful Resort”

Beautiful resort - perfect location on the strip. The dinners were great - buffet was okay. Drinks were STRONG! :) The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pool is beautiful and the beaches are amazing. Wish there was more to do at night time - but right across the street there are tons of bars and restaurants that you can walk to. We had a great time!

    “NOT HAPPY”

Came to Aruba with 13 of my closest friends and was highly disappointed. Here's a list of items that went wrong during our stay: 1) a few rooms safes did not work 2) Shower continued to not drain properly 3) the hotel ran out of eggs, fruit, fish, vodka and Ice pack? 4) pool closed very early 5) free wifi for one hour and you had sit in the lobby in order to use it. 6) staff was not pleasant We take yearly trips and Aruba was a high priority on a few of our list. we spent so much money on going to out to eat it wasn't not worth the "all inclusive". a friend of mine fell and was not take care of at all. the next day the hole in which she fell in was still there and with nothing covering it?!? Aruba was truly a disappointment due to our hotel stay. I will never visit this hotel ever again!

    “Simply Wonderful Experience”

My husband and I just returned from Aruba, where we stayed at the Barceló. The Barceló Aruba is a great hotel with superb staff. The surroundings were beautiful inside and out. We would like to thank the amazing staff, especially Alicia in the Lobby Bar, who was friendly, gracious, and fun! We had a great conversation about the island. She's a VERY sweet person! Gino who D.J.'d was awesome!! Thanks for playing all the crazy songs we requested! Our room always looked great when we returned, thanks to the hard work of the room attendants. The buffet was awesome, with a huge selection from fresh vegetables to delicious meats. You can make your own Bloody Mary! The entire staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. We stayed in the Royal Level and were treated great. Thank you to May and the staff there. I see some people complained about the liquor, but we're not the type of people who have to have this or that brand. The drinks tasted great to me! The food was good too. The portions were not as gigantic as here in the states, but that's good! We were always satisfied with our meals. The only problem with this hotel was having to wake up at 4:00 a.m. (truth be told, my husband did) to claim a palapa on the beach. It was VERY unfair of the other guests to leave their towels under them and then not show up all day. This should definitely be regulated. I was ready to start pulling them off, but I didn't want to get into a major argument on my vacation. Please fix this situation, Barceló. There were many palapas with names on them for the timeshare people. A young couple with a six-month old baby could not find shade, and placed their towels on the sand to snap some photos of their adorable infant. They momentarily put the infant in some shade from a timeshare palapa, and the woman sitting under it gave them dirty looks. So not cool! We invited the couple and their child to share the palapa my husband nabbed at 4:00 a.m. Other than that, the place was wonderful. We will definitely be back! Oh, and thanks Marco (Royal Level Concierge) for your help and the laughs. Emily Roscia and Anthony Calogero

Dear eroscia1, First of all I would like to thank you for the rating of our property and for making space in your precious time to write us a review. We really appreciate your kind words of our property and of our staff. We will surely thank them on your behalf. We are aware of the problem with the palapas and this is an island wide problem. We have tolerated this situation for way too long and we have planted hundreds of new palm trees to have more shades however we still need to work on enforcing the motto of First Come First Serve basis where reservation of palapas with towels are not tolerated. All in all I am so happy this did not disturb your vacation and we do look forward to host you again in the future. Kind regards, Aurelia Croes Quality Manager

    “Amazing”

My second trip to Aruba. The first time I went I stayed at Riu Antillas. This time I stayed at Barceló and loved it! Will definitely go back there. Check in was a breeze. All staff was amazing. Food was very good. I did the buffet a couple nights and the Mexican and Japanese restaurants. Hung by the pool a few days and then mostly the beach. You did have to go down early and reserve a chair but that's pretty typical at most Aruba resorts. Room was very nice and the bathroom was awesome. The only thing I'd change next time is that I would get a room with a pool view. I had an ocean view and while you could definitely see the ocean you could also see the big parking lost next door. Also, late at night you heard a lot of music etc. from the main street. I'd imagine it's a little quieter at night on the pool side. Can't say enough about Barceló. I thinks it's a little smaller than Riu but I liked that. Will definitely go back there next year! Thanks Barceló!
