    “nice grounds and pools - free shuttle to town - wifi sucks”

    Nice enough all inclusive hotel - the pools are nice, as are the grounds - all well kept. Most staff speaks poor english (or not at all) - one waiter in the bar did not understand the word "beer" !! Wifi is horrible - disconnects all the time even near the reception. Food is not too bad, except the restaurant is not properly fenced in so you have birds flying all over the place - a loose dog as well was just walking around and nobody seemed to care. The so called filled minibar is not really a minibar - it has 2 beers and some soft drinks in it - thats it. Rooms are clean but lacks coffee/tea making facilities. Lots of satelite TV chanels, but none in English. For some reason, hotel facilities are not advertised so you have to figure out for yourself whats on offer.There is no information as to what food (snacks) are on offer and at what time so that too you have to figure out. The snacks turned out to be some sausages and french fries - not appealing at all. The main bar is poorly staffed, so getting anything served takes forever, Lots of power outages so charge your gadgets whenever you have a chance

We also want to be grateful for you taking some time to let us know about how was your experience with us. Relative to the things to improve mentioned for you, we inform we have given special attention on it, checking everyone by everyone right when the corrective action has been made already. Currently we have with a staff who every day works in the garden department and takes cares the green spaces of the hotel. They also water and prune it. Add to this our restaurant La Palapa have 15 cycles menus which are just repeated twice monthly in the buffet service , what we must add the fact that right now our A&B department is making new designs for the menus, with the purpose to give them a more variety. In ascending order, We are glad to inform that a 60% of our worker speak a second language different than the native one and the other 40%, is learning the English idiom through some companies who has offer us some agreements to help us improve the communication between our guest and staff. The minibar has 4 sodas, 2 beers, and a water bottle ,is refill one time at day, but you can have more water if you need asking for it to the front desk without extra cost. i may mentioned guest have access to the bar drinks who works from 10: 00 am until 01: 00 am. There you can have as much beers, sodas, juice and different kind of drinks you want. Add to this, we are glad to inform, sooner we will offering the service of coffee machine in the room. The information about the hotel services as the schedule and details of it are given during the checking and after that you can see it on the boards located in the food areas. Now we got some maps which help you to get more information about the hotel locations.     Staff amazing - resort at its worst I’ve stayed. Food not much choice. Breakfast if you got there past 9am you got crumbs and they were pretty much done for the day. Servi-Bar not serviced in 3 days had to keep asking. Need tons of updating and food more variety. Place was practacly empty but would not switch us to any other room unless we paid additional money. No brochures available for sightseeing. No staff at spa or beauty salon and no price information.

Add this buffet restaurant have an schedule service from 07: 00 am until 10:00 am, where the buffet is reinstatement every time the food is running out. We got three bars, where the main bar works every day until 01:00 am. As all inclusive much part of our services is self service. Also, the hotel has a concierge department, there are many brochures there and also package for tour and all the sightseeing you would like to do. We hope you had got the chance to meet our concierge during your stay. We have checked every single detail you’ve mentioned before, and we have made the corrective actions for them, included the beauty salon and the spa area, because they work from 10: 00 am, until 05:00 pm. We are working everyday to improve our service and give to our guest a better quality of them.     “Cartagena is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting, but don't stay at this resort!”

    If you only speak English, then don’t stay at this resort because the staff does not speak any English which could pose problems for English-speakers. There are other reasons to not stay at this resort. Although the grounds are beautiful, it takes way too long to check-in when you arrive at the hotel. Also, beds are placed on cement slabs – not box-springs. Staff is also not very accommodating – I had to repeatedly ask for basics such as a coffeemaker, coffee mugs and glasses for water before receiving them. I was also charged for requesting seltzer water (agua con gas) which no other resort I have ever stayed at has done. Moreover, I had to ask for facial towels and a robe several times before receiving them (I’m talking days here – not hours). And the mini-bar is not really a mini-bar at all, it is a small refrigerator with two beers in it. You’re paying all-inclusive prices to stay at this resort but it’s not really all-inclusive considering the service you receive. And on top of that, you get treated in a condescending way by staffers like Noily when you ask for help (but Kelly and Jose were great – they at least try to help when you have questions). When I arrived at the resort after a long journey I was told I couldn’t eat anything there for a few hours and that should have indicated to me that there would be problems at this resort. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt. That won’t be happening again. I stayed at many many all-inclusive resorts around the world and this by far is not a true all-inclusive resort. Each morning at breakfast you had beg for a cup of coffee, search for someone and ask them for coffee. The only morning that I was asked if I wanted coffee immediately was when the boss/manager was on site. Every time I wanted a drink I had to get out of the pool to get a drink there is no pool side service. Snacks are not 24 hours. They do not explain what they have on the premises and or where anything is. I found out two days before I was checking out that they had bug repellent at the check in desk, why wasn’t this offered to me? Also the website of the resort is false advertisement, it reads wrong and reads it has a lot to offer when actually the resort does not offer much at all. I was celebrating my birthday and made them aware of it and they did not offer a thing. Last year I stayed at a true all-inclusive for by boyfriends birthday and they had champagne, cake and a birthday banner. I had asked for a room upgrade and they could not accommodate. I asked to stay an additional night and they couldn’t accommodate, once again not accommodating. I checked into the Hampton Inn and told them it was my birthday and not only did I receive a birthday wish, I was thanked for spending my birthday at that Hotel and received a bag of chocolate. Cartagena is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting. But don’t stay at this resort.

Especially for the ability of Mr. Michael to speak Spanish, ability that he showed us at the check in and during his days in the hotel at the moment to talk to our employees. 60% of our worker speak a second language different than the native one and the other 40%, is learning the English idiom through some companies who has offer us some agreements to help us improve the communication between our guest and staff. Emphasizing that every single person who works at front desk department can speak English in advanced. The check in is clearly define by an Estelar standar which seeks to deliver all the information about the option you have in the hotel to enjoy your stay. In addition to the fact it is our priority assist the guest in each of their request and requirements, as well as we performed with you during your check in while you asked about an additional night, the price of it, the minimum terms to guarantee and book it, the same as how much will cost the upgrade you wanted but didn’t take it at the end. Relative to the mosquitos, counting on the environment and the forest variety the hotel has in order to prevent proliferation of the mosquitos, the hotel is daily fumigate against plague and bugs. Add to this, the front desk have a stock of repellent available for the user without extra charges. Your visit were fit to an rain season that is out of our weather anytime that is effect of the blow of the tail of Caribbean hurricanes , although they do not directly hit us if it has a repercurssion in the weather causing heavy rains that increase the presents of insects. Our concierge departments as well as the service area are available for the guest satisfaction; reason why the coffee maker requested by you according to what was recorded on the tracking form was delivered to you the same day of the request. We will check in relation to the charge for the seltzer water, because the products of the minibar, the water are replenished as often as the guest requires without additional cost, we proceeded to look over your bill and there is no additional payment. The housekeeping Department gave you the requested robes on their part, since this type of accessories are available only in the suites. For all-inclusive it contains food, beverage and snack services. The snack service starts after breakfast, (11:30 a.m.) ending one hour before the starting of dinner service (05:30 p.m.) It would have been our pleasure share with you the day of your birthday, but for not confirming with advance notice the booking of the extra night and not guaranteeing the same, at the moment you request the extension of the stay (day 23rd of 09 / 2017) this had to be declined because the high occupancy rate. That prevented us from enjoying with you the night of your birthday. But at Grand Playa Manzanillo it is customary on the birthday of our guests to send attentions to the room, and additional to this if the family and / or companion wish a decoration and surprise packages, which can be contracted through our concierge or reception area. In spite of all this, our reception and counseling department gave you a late check-out the day of your departure, even though we were in 100% occupancy for that weekend. We are thankful and appreciate each of your remarks, while we hope to have the opportunity to attend you again with the best of our service.     “Fine for the price”

    We stayed at this resort for two nights. The pools and beach were beautiful, warm, and relaxing. A great place to relax and read. The rooms were fine but needed some updating. We couldn't get wifi signal in the room (which would have been a big issue if we didn't have Colombian cell phones). However, the food was definitely the weakest link. I wouldn't have been able to eat at the resort for more than a couple days. Finding this hotel was incredibly frustrating. Everything we booked was under the name Occidental but ALL of the signs said Estelar Grand. While we were lost looking for this place, it was incredibly hard to find the correct number for the front desk. Customer service was good. Without the good customer service - especially at the front desk - this would not have been a great experience.

    “Beautiful Cartagena”

    The resort was all-inclusive. The grounds of the resort were spectacular. However, although the rooms were clean, it resort could use some updating. Food was great, but could have used more variety, especially at breakfast. All around though, it was a great resort. The provided free bus service from the resort (5 times per day) to the old city.

    “Beautiful Cartagena”


    The resort was all-inclusive. The grounds of the resort were spectacular. However, although the rooms were clean, it resort could use some updating. Food was great, but could have used more variety, especially at breakfast. All around though, it was a great resort. The provided free bus service from the resort (5 times per day) to the old city.
