    “Great Location & Fun place to be!”

    I stayed in Barcelo Solymar in April 2017. I was there for a week with one of my best friends but then ended up meeting a bunch of people there. The food was pretty good (pretty good Cuba food), the location was AMAZING, the hotel was amazing especially with delivering water every AM. The night life in and out of the hotel was amazing and although they had nightlife the second you close your door to your room you couldn't hear anything. The rooms were beautiful, the beach was beautiful & the people there were so helpful & nice. Planning to go back soon.

    “Do not stay here”

    Honestly, from the moment we arrived things went wrong. Wrong room allocated to us, at checkin time we went into the room and it was still being cleaned, reception staff were rude. When chatting to other people this seemed like a common issue. There was no mint on the premises, so no mojitos while you are there even though you are in Cuba! Towels varied from being given a hand towel as your main towel to sweet talking the cleaning staff to find you something a little bigger. Don’t stay here. Only positivs were the bar staff were really nice and the beach was lovely.

    “Great location”

    This hotel is doing upgrades and I'm sure it will be nice. We had to change rooms because the springs were sticking out of the mattress which made for a rough 1st night. 2nd room was better. We had a view of the construction site next door, at first I thought ouch - then after sitting on my balcony it was real interesting lol. Food in the main buffet was always cold. Probably would have been tasty if not for that. The other buffet was much better as it had grilling stations and the food was hotter. Didn't know about that buffet until the 3rd day and we were only there for 4 days. We went to the Tex Mex ala carte and it was very good. The bbq at the beach at lunch was very good. The location of this hotel was great. You are in walking distance to many restaurants and bars.

    “Still Amazing”

    Visited this resort again Nov 2017. It is still a great resort to go to. Close to town and the staff here are just incredible. Everyone from the maids, to the pool bar staff (Lala, Alyuche, Morgan) to the buffet staff, and even the entertainment staff. Especially Bruno, great guy. It is a shame not seeing Jorge at the pool bar. The food selection at the Solymar buffet wasn't the greatest due to renovations/construction at the buffet. However the short walk to Arenas buffet made up for it. If you want to meet fun and friendly people, have a blast and make memories then do yourself a favor and visit this hotel.

    “Zumba at Barcelo Solymar!! ”

    I would like to thank Barcelo Solymar for welcoming us and taking care of my Zumba Retreat! I had brought down 42 students and The Solymar accommodated our every need of having our classes run smoothly 4x a day!! The entertainment staff was amazing!! The bartenders amazing! Always made you smile and laugh! And the waitresses and my maids heart were pure of gold!! I m going back in January 2018 with 2 more large fitness groups and from now on, any fitness group I bring in Cuba will be with Barcelo Solymar! Thanks again and see you in January 2018 for 2 weeks again!

    “Great location”

    “Still Amazing”


    Visited this resort again Nov 2017. It is still a great resort to go to. Close to town and the staff here are just incredible.     I would like to thank Barcelo Solymar for welcoming us and taking care of my Zumba Retreat!
