    “Fun family trip”

We had a wonderful time on the hotel grounds. The pool could have been heated to get to use on the days that were not as hot. The staff was super pleasant. The food was good nothing exceptional. The entertainment at night was fun for my family.

    “Good value for the price.”

If you're looking for an all-inclusive resort with a good mix of amenities at a good price, this is a terrific option. You won't be bathed in luxury, but it gets the job done. The grounds are well kept, most of the staff is friendly, and there's plenty of entertainment options in the surrounding area.

    “Untapped potential”

Bad food, terrible smell on the beach, great location next to the Xcaret park, good of beach snorkeling, average entertainment, nice rooms in the upgraded area, beautiful setup of the whole property and beautiful architecture of the main building and the beach restaurant.

    “Great Hotel”

I was reviewing the pictures on TripAdvisor and I was worried the hotel was old. However, the rooms were great and modern, the hotel was SO BIG! it had so many different areas, different foods, it was soooo great! I look forward to visiting again very soon!

“the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it was fabulous.”

We stayed at the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it was fabulous. They had all of the paperwork prepared so check in was a breeze. The place was spotless clean and the staff was wonderful and all spoke English very well. It is a large resort – I believe they have 750 rooms. They had rooms in the main building and several little villas with rooms - we stayed in villa # 22. The villas have concierge that are very helpful, but they also try to get you hooked up with the time share people. They were not excessively pushy and that was a relief. It was quiet spacious and clean – our deck overlooked the jungle so you got to see all kinds of bird, small animals, deer and monkeys that played on the deck. We never went hungry they had two buffets for breakfast and lunch one for dinner. They had a pizza place, taco place many bars and 5 special restaurants – they were all excellent. We had larger peso bills and they exchanged them free of charge in the lobby –this was great because we love to tip the staff for their excellent service. They do not expect it and they gave everyone excellent service, but they definitely appreciated it. I was so happy that our travel agent with Westjet suggested that we get the unlimited pass for the Xcaret Park, this place is huge with tons to do and there is no way you can do it in one day. We were able to come and go eat and rest at our resort. They put on an amazing show in there large theater – a must see. The Park and the resort had Maya ruins on the property and write ups on what they were. There isn’t a lot of beach and quite a bit of rock and dead coral along the edge that was amazing to look at – I was told they had a bad hurricane in 2005 that pushed the coral on to the beach. The snorkeling was great lots of fish. The resort had two extremely large pools, a ocean inlet that was great for snorkeling – perfect for kids because it was protected from waves and currents, and an adult area with a salt water pool that was fed by the ocean. I wanted to give Alberto Cahun our waiter an extra special thank you. This man was amazing he remembered everyone’s drinks, gave everyone extra special attention and was always smiling. His English was perfect for those of use that didn’t learn Spanish it was a great help. I am sure with his talent he will be in a management position in no time. I would highly recommend this resort to everyone.
