    “Another Wonderful Vacation!”

    This was our second trip to the Occidental, both times joining the Royal Club. Last June my husband and I visited for a fantastic week for my birthday. We returned earlier this month with our 2 young adult sons for another week and had a fabulous family vacation. We loved the food, the warm ocean water great for swimming, the beach volleyball, the clean, comfy rooms with views, and the excellent staff. It was so nice to see many familiar staff faces from our previous visit. I want to mention by name some of the incredible staff members who made our trip so wonderful and memorable. Ricardo in the Royal Club bar was outstanding: genuine, attentive, and friendly. What an asset to your resort. Gabriella is also a true gem: friendly, helpful, sweet and all around excellent. Rafael, a Royal Club server was just wonderful. He took such good care of us. Another stand out was Augustin at the Royal Club bar-so friendly, helpful and outstanding. We liked the all inclusive. Great food and drinks. It was nice not having to sign checks. Very relaxing. We liked having a pool bar at the Royal Club pool, but think at least the hot tub should be adult only. One suggestion is we wish the double bath tub on our lovely deck would have been a regular hot tub. Thank you for another great vacation. We are already planning another trip for next year.

    “first club”

    a nice resort. very clean and friendly. food was very good. they are renovating and our room was right across from the new air condioning unit being installed . the whole two weeks was banging and a lot of noise. not great.

    “To good of service of the vacations ”

    Thanks for the best service amazing place to go. The best entertainment team but Johnny was the best of the best and gave Spanish lesson it made the vacation a better one and Luis help out too. The party is down at this hotel and was amazing bar and drinks

    “5 Star Staff, 3 star otherwise”

    We visited from Christmas Eve to January 4th. I booked 4 rooms for the extended family, there were 9 of us including a baby and 2 teens. I had arranged to have a crib in the room for the baby. We arrived in 2 groups and both had issues with the rooms. When we arrived our 'deluxe ocean view room' smelled very musty and wasn't any better than the other room that was cheaper. The room for the baby didn't have a crib and didn't have room for one. We decided to upgrade both these rooms to suites on the royal level along with the royal level amenities. The suites were nice but no balconies. When the other group arrived one room didn't have 2 double beds but 1 king. They added a cot. The lady who helped us get organized and checked in, Rocacio (sp?) was great and helped us a few times during the stay. The first club was a very nice perk. We enjoyed the staff in the bar on the royal level - Ricky is a great bartender and the concierges were very friendly and helpful. Since we had some people in regular rooms we didn't use the royal pool but we did enjoy the cabanas on the beach. We also had the experience several times having them say restaurants were full or could only take 2 people but then they were mostly empty. I didn't understand that. The beach is great. We like to boogie board and brought our own. We were glad we did since they didn't have many at the activities desk. The yoga in the morning was nice and the games in the pool were fun for the young people. The Mexican restaurant was the best. We found the food in the buffet a little too much of the same and the food overall was very salty. We learned to ask them not to salt things. The staff in the buffet were all very good – happy to find a table for a big group when we wanted it. I think this is a nice resort that is in a transition with ownership and hopefully when they settle down it will be better. Since the staff are so great I hope they work hard to keep them.

    “Great resort”

    We stayed at this hotel at the end of November to December 2, 2016. We had three couples and one single adult group. Lobby and check in was good. One couple did not get the right room but was quickly remedied. Nice intimate resort and was easy to book suppers at the a la carte restaurants. We had a King room and it was nicely laid out, a little on the smaller side but good for the two of us. We had an ocean view and could open the window but no balcony. That was the one thing we missed. At this time of the year had no problem getting lawn chairs and loved all the room on the beach under palm trees. Unusual on the beach itself which made it feel special. This hotel was nicely located close to the plaza strip mall if you were so inclined. Love how far you can walk on the beach. Staff was friendly and catered to whatever we wanted. We had the best waitress who kept us well hydrated Angeles Montalou - she was absolute best. We also were able to have Nikolas be our personal shopper on the beach. Will stay here again.
