    “Nice and peaceful”

Exceptionally good architecture and gardening make the place. No need to go anywhere when you have a lovely sunny private terrace, sunbed and good books to enjoy. The restaurant wasn't bad either, though I wish people would bother to dress a tiny bit smarter for dinner.

    “Relaxing week away”

Our 3rd time at this resort and 5th visit to Caleta de Fuste. We stayed in the 2000 block in a modern, spacious and spotlessly clean apartment. We stayed on a room only basis as we enjoy sampling the local cuisine. El Capitan is one of our favourites for delicious tapas. The grounds of this hotel are pleasant to walk around with easy access to the sea and beach front. Unfortunately the beach was closed due to refurbishment and this had a bigger impact on our holiday than we expected it to as the beach is usually so inviting. Fortunately there was no noise from the workmen as nothing was actually happening! We will definitely return next year to see the end result.

    “Another great stay here”

This was our second time here and we love it! Great hotel in a brilliant beach location with lovely pools. The bungalow was clean and spacious with very comfy beds. We all loved the restaurant food, there was plenty of choice for everyone. There was a good mix of family and couples staying here. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

“Very tired apartment, in need of updating.”

For a start this complex is nowhere near the beach. It's a 20 minute walk so to call it a beach resort is misleading. We stayed there for 3 weeks self catering and the apartment was badly equipped. We asked for a basic kettle and toaster and it took them 8 DAYS to issue them. When they did the kettle fused all the electrics. They sent a maintenance man and he said the it was too powerful for the circuit board and not to use it. They gave us another which worked off and on. The apartment was tired and shabby looking, the gardens around it full of weeds. The paint on the door flaking. A lot of the bungalows surrounding the pool looked lovely. I don't know if they were privately owned but they looked well maintained. We were self catering but we spoke to people who were all inclusive and they said the food was poor and swimming in grease. I did see the girl who served in the cafe toss a beefburger into the deep fryer to cook so you can only imagine what the food was like. Luckily there was a square a few minutes away that had pubs and eating places that were very reasonable. We were told there was a courtesy train that ran to town but you had to pay 2 euros each way. The way down to the town was fine but the way up was rather steep for those with mobility probs. There was maid service every 2 days and they changed the towels twice weekly but the bedlinen was never changed. We had the same sheets for the 3 weeks we were there. I'm afraid we gave up complaining as it took so long to get results. The only good thing about it was the pool area which was clean and well kept. That is the reason I gave the Castillo Beach 2 stars. I do noit recommend it unless you are able to see the apartment you are allocated. Most of the ones in our Vistas complex looked in need of upgrading.

“Great week at Barcelo Castillo ”

Spent a week here self catering with our 15 month old baby. Perfect place for baby she loved it. Lovely safe friendly resort. Children's pool could have been a little warmer but most of the kids didn't seem to mind.
