    “Resort Great but Food Not”

    We have travel to the DR numerous times. This resort was new to us. The resort was fantastic. We paid extra to have better service and Angela went above and beyond to make the stay perfect. However the food at this resort is less then perfect. We didn't like the food anywhere and often found ourselves just eating bread because if not we were sick. Once home one of us ended in the ER with bacteria infections that came from the food because we would only drink bottled water and even brought some of our own water so we know its not from that. We would 100% return to this resort if the food management was changed because the resort was exceptional!

    “Fall get away”

    I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the Occidental Caribe. After reading some of the reviews I read I was a little nervous and my expectations were a little low. Look, if you are expecting the Ritz in an all inclusive for this price you will be disappointed. However, if you love the sun, a beautiful beach and awesome pools, you'll be happy. The room was ok. A little dated and could have been a little cleaner, but was in no way unacceptable. The bed was very comfortable. We stayed in building 2 on the 4th floor. The buffet is decent. We mainly went there for breakfast. They have four egg stations were you can have eggs made to order or omelets made to order. If you are looking for a good cup of coffee, they will make you a latte or cappuccino at the bar just outside of the buffet. The specialty restaurants we decent. We did the japanese, Mexican, and Steak and seafood. We went to the Italian restaurant twice. You do need to make reservations for some of these places. Some can be done day of only, others you can make days in advance. This is done in the guest services office. The Pool bar called Mirador was very convenient and the bartenders we very nice. The shows in the amphitheater are a little cheesy and not very high tech but a way to blow an hour or so in the evening. The beach at this hotel is beautiful. Lots of shady palms if you like and we never had to search for a chair. The will also let you borrow boogey boards and snorkeling equipment at the activity shed on the beach. We enjoyed this vacation very much and are already talking about returning. Some of the employees are not bilingual (spanish speaking) Learning a few simple spanish phrases can go a long way in getting a smile from the staff and seeing that you get what you want.

    “Disappointed I wouldn't recomend it..”

    Overall the staff was nice. However the hotel itself wasn't very well maintained or clean at all. There was construction in in the building and the floor was loud and very dirty. When we arrived to the room I asked them to change it because the furniture was damaged (the drawers were out of place among other things) so they gave us another room. We requested two rooms, one double and one triple, but they didn't gave us the triple room until hours after and in top of that the rooms were very far apart. I was very disappointed. When I arrived to my room (I was staying on the double with my sister) I noticed that the bathroom floor was dirty and called costumer service. The representative told me he was going to send someone to take care of it but no one showed up. Same story with the furniture, it needed to be replaced, but the worse part about the room was the sound transmission from the room next door. I could clearly hear the couple next door having sex. This is a huge nono because the clients privacy should be one of the minimum requirements, luckily my sister and I are both adults, but I couldn't imagine having to explain a child what was happening next door...The Buffet had enough options, but the food wasn't very good, especially the desserts which I found terrible. During my stay I only got to go to the Italian restaurant for dinner. Service was good but again, food wasn't very good.I Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

    “Honest Review”

    Our room was clean and decent. We didn’t like that it was always an issue requesting for clean towels. The woman a the front end was rude. Also, the receptionists at the reserved restaurants were unfriendly and they had poor customer service skills. We stood in line waiting to be seated and the receptionist would seat individuals that were behind us. This happened twice during our vacation. We received better service at the buffet. Overall, we would not stay at this resort again.

    “excellent”

    excellent, good hotel to stay and enjoy by yourself, couples, family or group, Over all, it is clean, almost all rooms faced to the beach and swimming pools, you don't have to go through the hostile of taking those travel Carts from one building to another that makes you waist time and patience.
