“Overall good but lots that could be improved”

Me and my partner came to Rome and stayed here from the 11/11/19-15/11/19. When we first got in to the hotel we managed to check-in early which was nice. Hotel/lobby was generally really clean and had a nice smell. We had a room on the second floor and overall it was tidy and mostly clean however their was mold like speckles in the fridge, the air conditioning was very dusty so we didn't want to use it and also the carpet had a rip in it and there were many dark stains on the floor. The second day, the boiler went so there was no hot water at all in the hotel which meant I didn't have a shower until early evening which was annoying however hotel reception did keep us updated. Also, the rooms are definitely not sound proof, we had a baby in the room next door and the other side had their tv very loud and could also hear there conversations. When you're trying to sleep, it was very agitating and was something that annoy me a lot and did ruin the relaxing vibe I would have wanted while on holiday. Food was average at best at the hotel and breakfast was a bit meh for me, however the chef did make it better by making fresh pancakes for us every morning without us asking which was a nice touch. Reception was also really helpful with showing us how to get into the city centre and what bus routes to get which really did help. They also helped track down our transfer when it didn't turn up which was really appreciated. Overall it was a good stay, but very far away from centre and there were many things disrupting our general holiday which was a shame.

“Good hotel - a bit away from wverything”

Stayed here while visiting Rome on a Barcelo package. We arrived at 8:45 am and the staff did everything they could to get us in a room which they did by 9:30 am. Note there is a shuttle of some sort from the airport which we didn’t know until we arrived and it was full. So check with them as the taxi fare can be 50 euros. It’s a 15 minute taxi ride to everything depending up traffic (that’s the best it will be) and cost you under 15 euros for the ride. You can get there on the Metro but is a half mile walk of so and it was raining everyday we were there. Breakfast is served but leaves a lot to be desired for this American. It’s a buffet with cold eggs and severely under cooked bacon among other things. There are several really good restaurants that a a-little walk. But it’s not a bad walk after dinner. The hotel also serves dinner which we heard from other guests was good. Rooms were clean and adequate. Bed was comfortable. Overall a very good deal for the price. I recommend this place if you are willing to walk a bit to save money.

    “The Extraordinary Occidental”

If you want the peace of the suburb of Aurelia , set near the ecclesiastical colleges, but near enough to the buzz of Rome city centre then the Occidental Aurelia is for you. It is our hotel of choice , from friendly and helpful staff to comfortable rooms it is where we will return to year after year. The bus to St Pietro's Basilica stops right outside the hotel so know trying to figure out which way to go. Reception staff often recommend places to visit that might be not on the general to see list. For those interested do spend the time going to the churches of Santa Apostoli and St Paul outside the Walls. Stunning in their uniqueness.

    “Lovely friendly hotel”

We had a lovely stay at the Occidental Aurelia, hotel was very clean, smelled fresh and the staff were very helpful. Room was well equipped with hairdryer and a clothes steamer. Showers were great. Room was attended each day. We were given room 211 which had been newly renovated to a good standard. Food was reasonably priced, tasted delicious, and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. It is not centrally located but just a short walk to local amenities and bars and restaurants (the restaurant just down the street was reccomended and was lovely) the cornelia metro station is a short walk away making transport to town quick and easy, there is a regular bus service just outside the entrance to the hotel but we preffered to use the metro service. There is a shuttle service to the airport a short walk from the hotel at a very reasonable cost of €6 pp which we used on our return journey. Inbound we used the Leonardo express train to termeni and the metro system from there. Very easy to navigate and cheap to travel at just €1.50 per journey invluding line changes amd bus changes.
