    “Great place to stay”

    Best Hotel that I have found in Cozumel by Far. I was there the weekend after New year and the night life at the resort was not all that jumping, but it didn't need to be this is a place that you want to go and relax and rest. I was practicing my Spanish while there, and everyone helped me with it. :) I look forward to my next visit there in 2020.

    “Great resort!”

    Wonderful staff and clean rooms with good food! The layout out resort was nice and the beds were fabulous! Time share staff at occidental are very aggressive! Watch out for the guys wearing Tan. No free WiFi not even in the lobby area. You have to pay for wifi

    “Swedish couple”

    We liked the whole consept. The food was good.It was a lot of different kind of alcohol. It was nice with the wild animals. We estimated that the buildings not was so big just about 25 rooms in each building.

    “Fantastic - Second Trip to Occidental”

    We love this resort. This is our second time here. It won’t be our last. We were a party of 6 and met another couple there, so, ended up a party of 8. I can’t say enough about the resort staff, facilities, rooms and entertainment crew. We flew with Sunwing and the flight was delayed a bit at Pearson International Airport. When we got to Cozumel Airport, we waited in a line of 400 people to go through customs. It took a while. Shuttle to the resort was quick. The check in line up was long and it took time to get through it. Yes, we were tired, and it was a long wait, but we met some great people in the line and enjoyed our conversation with them. The bartender brought us drinks while we waited. When we got to the front desk, we realized that we should have gone to the Royal Level to check in as we had the Concierge package. By now it was midnight, and we had kept the young man on the Royal Level waiting for us. He quickly checked us in and we were on our way to our rooms. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and cool. We had no issues with the hot water once we turned the handle the right way. The grounds are stunning; the grounds crew is working on them all the time. The housekeepers were busy starting at 8 am cleaning rooms, washing the steps and sweeping carpets and so on. If you want your linens cleaned there is a note you are to put on your bed and they will change the linens. It is with the hotel information on the desk in your room. Sick of hearing people complain that their linens didn’t get changed. Every employee I encountered had a smile, a hola or como esta for us. The beach is stunning and there are plenty of chairs. You do have to get up early to save one as they are all reserved by 9 am. I have no problem with chairs being reserved, but it is annoying when no one comes to the chairs until noon. Please be considerate of others. Shout out to Raul Lopez for making sure we knew what entertainment was happening during the day and trying to include us in it. Raul was also very good at getting the crowd to join in at the night time activities as well. We were there for Super Bowl Sunday. They had food, a bar and a big screen TV set up on the Beach for everyone to enjoy. It was amazing!!! We had an Anniversary and a Birthday in our group and we had lovely signs put on our doors, cake, chocolate dipped strawberries with sparkling wine sent to our room. Thank you to all the lovely staff in the Royal Level for looking after us when needed. Thank you to all the hard working staff all over the resort. You should all be proud of yourselves for the work you do every day in order for others to have an amazing holiday. We will be back !!! MY COMPLAINT: Hotel guests that feed the Coatis, Iguanas and Fish. There are signs that say that the animals should not be fed, but the guests still feed them. Now, the wild life is pestering people to feed them. One school of fish (I don’t know what they are called) bug people constantly in the water to feed them because they have become accustomed to it. Feeding fish or other animals alters the natural balance of the environment. PLEASE DON’T FEED THE ANIMALS OR FISH

    “Family Vacation”

    The resort is beautiful! The grounds are so well kept and the rooms are spacious and very clean, but could use some updating. The beach was nice and the ocean was fantastic. The food was not the very good and they could offer more options... but we certainly didn't go hungry!! The resort is very understaffed and it was hard to get served in a timely manner, but again, no hurry as we were on vacation. The activity staff did a good job of entertaining. Leon was outstanding!! He made a point to learn names and get everyone involved. The resort should work hard to keep him around! The most discouraging part of our stay was the lack of beach lounge chairs. We observed staff removing guests towels and personal belongings and giving chairs to others. When asked about this we were told that if you hadn't been using your chair for 40 minutes, they would do this. You couldn't have a leisurely lunch or spend time on the beach for fear of having your items removed. At times we had to eat in shifts, which is not my idea of a vacation. The management did not seem to care about the paying guests, but catered to the Cruise Ship day pass people. If the chairs are a problem...BUY MORE CHAIRS! Due to the food and beach chair situation I don't think we would return until those issues were rectified. That is sad, as it is a beautiful place.
