General terms and conditions
1. General terms and conditions of booking
Terms and conditions of booking
Your booking will be guaranteed by your CREDIT CARD. In certain cases with offers, promotions and special rates, a deposit may be charged via our secure TPV system at the time of booking, which will then be deducted from your final bill at the hotel. As an additional guarantee, your credit card details will be stored securely and confidentially. Barcelo.com guarantees to hold the information supplied by customers under the strictest confidentiality. In the event that you need to pay all or part of the amount of the booking at the hotel, you may be required to pay this amount on the day of your arrival (check-in date).
If you wish to CHANGE, MODIFY OR CANCEL your booking, you must do so in advance before the original booking check-in date as specified in the specific conditions for the selected rate or offer. Otherwise the corresponding charges specified will be applied.
Once your booking has been made, please print out the page titled BOOKING VOUCHER, which you will require as proof of your booking and the services to be supplied. Keep this voucher and present it to the hotel reception upon arrival. If you do not present the voucher at reception, the hotel will not be responsible for any error regarding your booking, including the rate booked, number of guests and/or services booked. Keep your BOOKING REFERENCE to hand, as this will be required to access the booking information on Barcelo.com, in the event that you wish to make any changes, modifications or cancellations.
Please remember that everyone (including children) who is going to stay in the hotel must have a PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT, as well as official and current documents to verify:
- that the booking terms and conditions have been complied with, such as the age of children and the identity of the occupants of the room, as specified in the booking
- that the conditions for the discount codes applied to the booking have been complied with
- that the conditions for the special discounts applied to the booking (senior, large family, millennials, resident etc.) have been complied with
- that the guest is the holder of the credit/debit card with which the prepayment was made
IMPORTANT FOR BOOKINGS WITH PREPAYMENT: When checking in, the guest should present the same card they used when making the prepayment for the booking and prove their identity. Please remember, the expiry date of the card must not be prior to the arrival date at the hotel.
If guests do not comply with these requirements, the hotel will charge the guest for 100% of the stay at the time of check-in, and process a refund for the pre-payment made when booking.
BOOKINGS MADE WITH PAYPAL: Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be asked to show the PayPal payment receipt as proof of payment of the booking. When purchases are confirmed, payment receipts from PayPal are always sent to the account holder’s email address. The name of the person on the booking must match up with the titleholder of the PayPal account. If this is not the case, the guest will be required to pay the total amount of the booking upon arrival at the hotel reception through another means of payment, and the prepayment made through PayPal will be returned.
The BOOKING PAYMENT must be made in the currency of the hotel. Prices in other currencies shown during the booking process and on the confirmation are for information purposes only and are subject to variations in the exchange rate of the day. The amount to be paid will be the amount shown on the confirmation voucher received by email.
Barceló Hotel Group does not guarantee that access to this booking portal will be free of interruptions or errors, nor can it be held responsible for potential interruptions or errors. Under no circumstances will Barceló Hotel Group be held responsible for losses or damages of any kind that may occur through the access to and use of the booking portal. As a result, Barceló Hotel Group reserves the right to act upon any bookings processed.
Meal Plans
As a general rule, drinks are not included for half-board bookings (breakfast and dinner) and full-board bookings (breakfast, lunch and dinner). For All Inclusive accommodation, always check the hotel website for details of the services included.
Rates
Prices including the word "from" on the basis of an occupancy of 2 people per room. This price may vary if the booking is made for a higher or lower number of guests per room. Prices are valid for individual bookings only; they are not applicable to groups or special events.
All rates are inclusive of the taxes applicable at the time of booking, except for city hotels in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, where rates are exclusive of taxes. However, in the event of an increase in the applicable indirect taxes (such as, but not limited to, VAT or IGIC) or the introduction of new fees, taxes or charges of any kind for these services after the formalisation of the booking, the indicated rates will be increased by the amount legally applicable.
The hotel reserves the right to receive occasional visitors but will not allow them access to the rooms under any circumstance. If the guest wishes to receive visitors, the hotel has suitable facilities for this purpose.
If the hotel is an all-inclusive establishment, a paid day pass service is available, which can be purchased at reception.
In urban hotels, visitors are required to pay for anything they consume..
Special reservations for groups
When booking more than 10 rooms, the hotel may apply special conditions and supplements.
2. Bookings
For the purposes of the provisions of Article 27. a) of the Spanish Law on Information Society Services and E-Commerce, bookings made through Barcelo.com will involve the following steps:
· Step 0: Selection of hotel using search parameters, as well as the dates of stay and number of guests.
· Step 1: Selection of room type, number of rooms and discounts.
· Step 2: Selection of extras and additional services.
· Step 3: Entry of personal data regarding the booking and bank card details used to guarantee the booking, and the acceptance of the general terms and conditions, as well as those specific to the hotel.
· Step 4: Booking formalisation, display of confirmation page and sending of an email confirming the booking, which includes the booking details.
Barceló Gestión Hotelera S.L. will generate a comprehensive e-document formalising the booking for the customer's records, which gives them access and fully informs them of the booking content in an email, once it has been processed.
Once the booking has been formalised, we ask customers to check the content to identify any possible errors that may have occurred when entering the details; if any corrections are required, please call the applicable Customer Call Centre number for your country (see list here) or send your query or comment via our help page (https://barcelo.custhelp.com/) by filling in the relevant form and providing the booking identification details.
Your booking will be guaranteed using your credit card which will be stored securely and confidentially. In certain cases with offers, promotions and special rates, a deposit may be charged at the time of booking via the BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP secure virtual POS, which will then be deducted from your final bill at the hotel.
A transaction of 1 monetary unit (Euro, Dollar, Pounds) will be displayed in the guest's account when the booking is confirmed, in order to verify the card details entered. This amount will be returned shortly after, with this period varying according to the bank.
In the case of bookings guaranteed by card in Mexican pesos, one peso of the total amount of the stay will be deducted upon booking.
By providing the bank card details, the customer authorises the transaction, as well as the amount on the card of unpaid amounts and penalties set out in the cancellation policy.
Barcelo.com guarantees to hold the information supplied by customers under the strictest confidentiality.
2.1. Changes to the booking
Once your booking has been made, the details can only be modified at the request of the customer and subject to the RATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS and those specific to the hotel or room. Any change requests are subject to hotel availability, and carry a processing charge, pursuant to the specific offer conditions with regards to making changes. This applies to bookings made through Barcelo.com and our Customer Service Call Centre, as well as the alternative methods outlined below (for bookings made through other channels, please refer to the specific conditions that may apply):
(i) through the MANAGE MY BOOKINGS section on Barcelo.com, or
(ii) through our Customer Call Centres (see list here), or
(iii) by accessing our HELP PAGE (https://barcelo.custhelp.com) and filling in the form created for modifying bookings.
2.2. Cancellation of the booking
We inform you that for the purposes of Article 93.2.b) of the Spanish General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users, the legal regulation regarding the right of withdrawal will not apply to bookings made on Barcelo.com, and the individual terms and conditions of the offer will apply in the event of cancellation. This applies to bookings made through www.barcelo.com and through the alternatives described below (for bookings made through other channels, please refer to the specific conditions that may apply):
(i) through the MANAGE MY BOOKINGS section on Barcelo.com, or
(ii) through our Customer Call Centres (see list here), or
(iii) by accessing our HELP PAGE (https://barcelo.custhelp.com) and filling in the form created for modifying bookings.
The cancellation date shall be the date on which BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP receives notification of your intention to partially or fully cancel the booking via one of the aforementioned methods of communication.
2.3. Notice period for cancellation
You are expressly informed that cancellations made via Barcelo.com may incur processing charges, either estimated generally or specifically according to the date on which notification of the cancellation is received. This will be in accordance with the minimum notice period and cancellation charge, which is provided for in the CANCELLATION section of the RATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS applicable to the booking.
In the absence of specific provision in the CANCELLATION section included in the RATE CONDITIONS, it will be understood by default that the minimum notice for cancellation will be TWO DAYS before the scheduled date of arrival at the hotel (check-in), being applicable in this case the following processing fees or penalties, as appropriate:
Penalty for cancelling at least 2 days in advance:
Hotels in Europe, Africa, Asia and Cuba: €5.00 (EUR).
Hotels in the USA and Latin America (except Cuba): €5.00 (USD).
Penalty for cancelling less than 2 days in advance:
Hotels in Europe, Africa, Asia and Cuba: 50% of the price of the reservation.
Hotels in USA and LATAM (except Cuba): 50% of the booking price.
2.4. No show
Except in the event of a booking cancellation in accordance with the aforementioned paragraphs, in the event of a no-show at the hotel by 18:00 (local time at the hotel) on the planned check-in date, the booking will be automatically cancelled in full and the amount of the booking will be charged to the customer, as expressly set forth in the “NO SHOW” section included in the RATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS applicable to the booking.
If no specific provision is indicated in the NO SHOW section of the RATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, by default the customer will be charged an amount equivalent to the price of the first night’s stay for the booking.
If you plan on arriving at the hotel later than 18:00 on your check-in day (local time at the hotel) please contact the hotel directly (using the contact details on your booking form) to inform them of the situation. In this respect, sections (i), (ii) and (iii) of the CANCELLATION section of the Terms and Conditions will not be a valid means of giving notice of any late arrival to the hotel.
3. Data protection information
Data protection information
In accordance with the provisions of the current data protection regulations, we hereby inform you that the personal data you provide or have provided to us to make the booking will be processed by Barceló Gestión Hotelera, S.L. ("BGH"), in its capacity as Data Controller, with address at c/ José Rover Motta, 27, 07006, Palma de Mallorca.
In particular, BGH will process your personal data for the following processing purposes: (i) To manage and formalise the booking requested through the website, email and/or telephone (by application of pre-contractual measures); (ii) Transfer of personal data to the owner companies of Barceló branded hotels to manage the requested booking, which may involve an international transfer of data, if such companies are outside the EU (by application of pre-contractual measures); (iii) Compliance with accounting, legal, tax and administrative obligations (through the application of pre-contractual measures) (iv) sending by BGH of commercial communications regarding direct or third-party services and products that may be of interest (only with consent).
BGH may communicate personal data to: (i) other hotel companies in the Barceló network and, in particular, the hotel selected by the customer based on their request (this communication may involve an international data transfer (ii) Competent Public Bodies, Judges and Courts, (iii) third-party service providers that have access to the customers' personal data and that process such data on behalf of BGH as a result of providing services.
The personal data to which access is granted will be processed for the time necessary for the fulfilment of the purpose for which they were collected. Following this time, BGH will store your personal data, duly blocked, even when they are no longer relevant for the purpose for which they were collected, in order to make them available to any competent Public Administration services, Judges and Courts, or the Prosecution Service during the statutory time limit for personal actions that may have arisen from the relationship held with the guest and/or legally established storage periods. Once said time frames have elapsed, BGH will proceed with the physical deletion of your data.
In any case, if desired, you can exercise your rights of access, rectification and deletion of data, limitation of processing, opposition to the processing, and portability of your data by sending a written communication to the BGH Data Protection Officer at c/ José Rover Motta, 27, 07006, Palma de Mallorca, or by sending an email to dpo@barcelo.com, attaching a copy of your National Identification Document, Tax Identification Number or an official identification document.

4. Transactions
4.1. As of 23rd January 2007, anyone travelling by plane between the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda, including US citizens, must carry a valid passport. The maximum amount allowed for cash payments in dollars is $1,500 (USD) per person (adults only) per stay.
The limits on cash transactions are:
· Nationals: Maximum USD 300,00 per day and USD 1,500 in total during a calendar month.
· Foreigners: Maximum USD 1,500 in total during a calendar month, and USD 1,500 in total during a calendar month.
This limitation only applies to cash payments made in US dollars and not for payments made in Mexican pesos, or by credit card.
4.2. All charges made to credit cards in hotels in the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba are made in the local currency at the daily exchange rate.
4.3. Due to fluctuations in exchange rates and possible bank charges, there may be a slight difference between the price at the time of payment and when you receive your card statement.
4.4. Regulation exclusively for Spanish hotels: cash payment limit. In accordance with Law 11/2021, of 10 July, on the amendment of tax and budget regulations and the adaptation of financial regulations for the intensification of actions in the prevention of and fight against fraud: transactions involving sums of €1,000 and above or the equivalent value in any foreign currency may not be paid in cash. The aforementioned amount shall be €10,000 or its equivalent in foreign currency when the paying party is a natural person who can demonstrate that they are not resident for tax purposes in Spain and are not acting in their capacity as a businessperson or professional. For such transactions, payments below these limits may not be made.
4.5. For anyone not residing in Spain, the paying party must sign a declaration at the hotel when paying and show proof of their tax residence (valid passport, valid certificate issued by the respective tax authority in their country). For transactions not paid in cash, the parties involved must retain the payment receipts for a period of 5 years from the date of receipt to certify that a method of payment other than cash was used. The parties involved are also required to submit these receipts to the State Tax Authority when required.
5. Communications
BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP will send regular notifications regarding exclusive current offers to all my Barceló Programme clients.
6. Modification of the Terms and Conditions
6.1. BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP reserves the right to fully or partially modify these Terms and Conditions, and my Barceló Programme customers will be informed of any changes in the next email sent to them; these changes will be applied from the date of this email.
6.2. BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP may end the participation of a member in the my Barceló Programme with immediate effect by written notification when a member does not comply with the general Terms and Conditions.
6.3. The user can change or update their personal data, travel and communication preferences at any moment by logging into their personal area.
6.4. BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP reserves the right to amend or cancel, either completely or partially, without prior notice, these general Terms and Conditions, or any other aspect relating to the programme or the participation of its members, and will try to communicate such modifications to its members in advance.
7. my Barceló Programme Terms and Conditions
7.1. All customers start to generate booking transactions as soon as they register for the programme.
7.2. If a booking is made without being registered in my Barceló, the booking may be imported through the IMPORT BOOKINGS section of the Member's my Barceló account. The booking will be added to the other transactions, in order to obtain maximum benefits. Maximum period for importing a previous booking: 12 months after the check-out date at the hotel which, at the time of the stay, must be part of the BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP hotel portfolio.
7.3. Once you have enjoyed your stay, your valid bookings with Barcelo.com and the Customer Call Centre will accumulate over a period of 24 months from 26 March 2015, and your number of stays and my Barceló level will be updated.
7.4. The my Barceló customer, as the person who made the booking and guest during the stay, is the only person who can benefit from the exclusive advantages of the programme.
