What does the experience include?
If you want to discover the secrets of the south of Lanzarote, this 4×4 tour is just the thing for you. The organisers, Viajes Tara, use vehicles that are able to travel along dirt tracks and country roads, which cannot be accessed by coaches. This way, participants can enjoy an experience with the spirit of a safari, allowing them to discover corners of the volcanic island that go unnoticed by the general public.
What you need to know
Travellers can choose between up to four pick-up points in different parts of the island: Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Puerto Calero and Playa Blanca. From there you’ll be driven to Máncher, where the route officially gets underway.
On the tour, you’ll get the opportunity to gaze out onto the striking vineyards of La Geria, as well as the desolate volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya National Park and the beautiful town of Yaiza, situated close to the large expanse of the island that was buried by lava during the fateful eruptions that took place between 1730 and 1736.
Afterwards it’s off to the west coast to discover three places of great scenic beauty: the fishing village of El Golfo, Janubio Saltworks and the cliffs of Los Hervideros.
From there, you’ll head inland to have lunch in the small village of Femés before bringing an unforgettable day of tourism to a close on the idyllic beaches of Papagayo.
