What does the experience include?
This guided tour around southern Lanzarote is a magnificent way of discovering the main attractions of the bottom part of the island at a relaxed pace, without needing to rent a vehicle and have to drive. This guided tour—which is 5 hours long and available in Spanish, English and German—covers the Timanfaya National Park, the west coast of Lanzarote and the La Geria vineyards. These tours are led by local guides, who will answer your questions and unveil the secrets behind the island of volcanos.
What you need to know
Conceived for groups of up to 14 people, you can join this tour around southern Lanzarote from its main tourist resorts: Teguise, Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. The first stop on the tour is the Timanfaya National Park, where you will discover a spectacular bleak landscape. Here, you can also experience the high temperatures recorded a few centimetres from the surface of the Montañas del Fuego.
From the park, the tour will follow the Volcano Route around the magical landscape that was shaped by a series of eruptions that took place between 1730 and 1736. Here, those who wish to do so have the opportunity to enjoy a camel-back ride around the Timanfaya National Park.
The next destination is the western coast of Lanzarote, which is home to three spots of outstanding beauty: the Janubio Salt Flats, the Los Hervideros cliffs and the Lago Verde.
Lastly, the minibus will leave the coastline and head towards the La Geria valley, which is testament to the historical ability to adapt of Lanzarote’s farmers, who developed an ingenuous crop growing system which used holes (or gerias, in Spanish) to produce wine.
