Once the pick-up is over and everyone is on board, we head to the north of Lanzarote to begin our excursion.
We started our route through the north of Lanzarote by visiting the Mirador de Las Nieves, where we can take incredible photos of the centre-north of the island and especially of the Chinijo Archipelago; you'll see La Graciosa!
We're still on our way to Corona Volcano where you can enjoy the views of the architect of César Manrique's two great works in Lanzarote: the crater that originated the Cueva de los Verdes and Los Jameos del Agua (later remodelled by the artist).
Finally, we will also enjoy a view panning From the town of Haría and the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees, without a doubt, a picture that you cannot miss; before we enter the depths of the Earth
We discovered volcanic nature, always present in the work of César Manrique, during a visit to the Cueva de los Verdes: the Longest lava tunnel in the world. This work by César Manrique gives the feeling of entering the bowels of Mother Earth and leaves unique and unforgettable impressions on those who enter the Cueva de los Verdes. What makes this tunnel special is its natural origin, the result of the flow of lava caused by the eruptions of the Corona volcano.
Our next visit leads us to Los Jameos del Agua, the first work created by César Manrique and which serves as inspiration for the next creations of the Lanzarote artist. Los Jameos del Agua* originate from the collapse of the roof of the volcanic tube through which lava from the Corona Volcano flowed, creating a unique space in the world. This tunnel is 6 km long, of which at least 1.5 km runs under the Atlantic Ocean. Jameos del Agua is located in the part of the tunnel closest to the coast.
As soon as we enter and as we descend the stairs, the big ferns welcome us to the small Jameo, in this unique Jameo there is a cafeteria full of charm that has been able to merge with the environment. In the Jameos del Agua, it is important to highlight a unique and endemic species of crabs (Munidopsis Polimorpha), which are characterized by being blind, albino and smaller than one centimetre.
After climbing the staircase sculpted in stone and admiring the garden wall that accompanies us, we can enjoy the architectural ingenuity of César Manrique and the skylights surrounded by stones that are found on the ceiling of both rooms and that serve to unite both spaces.
Leaving behind the Jameo Grande, a much larger opening than the first, in which a large one stands out crystal blue water pool on a beautiful white background. All this is surrounded by native flora, including typical Canary Islands palm trees and a wide variety of cacti. The rocks located at the bottom of the pool turn this artificial space into a small ocean for the enjoyment of visitors.
Behind the pool is the original auditorium: a stage located inside the volcanic tube where you can enjoy art at concerts and shows. The mix of natural acoustics and the softness of the lighting leaves no one indifferent.
