Fuerteventura in 3 days

Are you deciding what to see in Fuerteventura in three days? Perhaps three days doesn’t seem enough to get the most out of this destination, but if you think again, not only can you be sure of sunshine throughout your visit (it rains for barely a couple of weeks a year on this island), but you’ll also know for certain that you will be able to visit a few of Spain’s last remaining unspoilt beaches, as well as extraordinary desert landscapes reminiscent of Africa. Not to mention the island’s cuisine, which is so authentic, and quite different from that of any other part of the Iberian Peninsula. Fuerteventura is synonymous with peace and tranquillity, meaning that the days seem to stretch out… and your enjoyment is doubled.
We will describe a comfortable itinerary which you can do in 3 days in Fuerteventura, ensuring you get the very best out of your time there.
Itinerary day 1
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
El Cotillo
What better way to start exploring this island than from this north-western town? The charm of this small fishing village lies precisely in the fact that it remains relatively unexploited by tourism, compared to other locations on the island. Take a stroll along its streets and be sure to take a break at the El Tostón Castle (constructed in the fifteenth century), which is a great spot to rest and take in the beautiful views.
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
La Concha Beach
Lying close to El Cotillo are several extensive white sandy beaches. We recommend visiting La Concha beach, which bears no resemblance to its namesake in San Sebastián. Fuerteventura’s Playa de la Concha is found within natural surroundings. Besides its beautiful white sands and gorgeous clear waters, this beach is particularly recommended for a safe swim.
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
El Faro Lounge Bar
Located in one of the most privileged areas of Caleta de Fuste and part of the Barceló Castillo Beach Resort, its chilled vibes make this one of the best options if you’re looking to relax.
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Betancuria
Founded in the fifteenth century as a capital, the town of Betancuria is one place in Fuerteventura that you must visit if you have any interest in history. But its cultural heritage is not its only asset, as the spectacular volcanic setting it enjoys is another attraction.
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Tindaya
The island’s ancient inhabitants attributed magical powers to this mountain, which reaches a height of barely 400 metres. This is what is revealed by the important archaeological remains found close to this natural formation sculpted by time. When the sun goes down, the place becomes even more mysterious.
21.00-23.00
Restaurante El Horno
Famed for its roast goat dishes, the El Horno restaurant (located in La Oliva) is one of the best known on the island. The establishment has a wood-fired oven which lends its dishes a recognisable hint of rusticity. But be sure to leave room for one of its delicious desserts!.
Itinerary day 2
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Morro Jable
The second of our three days in Fuerteventura kicks off in the south, in the beautiful town of Morro Jable. Here, we recommend getting breakfast in the port and taking a walk around its historic centre. The new Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen enjoys magnificent views of the beaches and the port.
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Cofete Beach
Lying nearby is one of the island’s most famous, beautiful and unspoilt beaches. With golden sands and choppy waters, the Playa de Cofete is a real gift for the eye. Access is, admittedly, a little tricky, but we promise you it’s worth making the effort.
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Cofete Restaurant
You won’t find any alternatives for miles, but don’t worry. This small hidden restaurant in the town of Cofete serves delicious local cuisine within an exceptional setting.
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Villa Winter
This mansion said to have had links with Nazism, is shrouded in mystery and legend. Although it was built in 1946, some say that it played a key role in supplying the German fleet during the course of the Second World War, and even that it became the hideaway of Nazis who had fled Germany after its defeat.
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Punta de Jandía Lighthouse
It is the island’s southernmost lighthouse, and one of the best if you would like to learn about the fascinating Jandía Natural Park. Inside, the interpretation centre offers a comprehensive exhibition on the area’s ocean floor and its cetaceans, maritime signalling, the history of the lighthouse itself, and various other aspects of interest.
Itinerary day 3
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Corralejo Sand Dunes
The Dunas de Corralejo Natural Park, the biggest and best sand dune complex in the Canary Islands, constitutes one of the main natural beauty attractions in northern Fuerteventura. Sea, sand and volcanic rock intermingle in this space which affords panoramic views that you’ve previously only dreamed of. In order to get to know the park, complete one of the hiking routes available.
1:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Excursion to the Island of Lobos
We recommend timing your trip so that you disembark at around 2:00 PM, just in time for the second slot. The Martiño lighthouse, the La Caldera volcano, El Puertito and a host of hiking trails and beaches await you there. Take a rucksack with some food and water so that you can enjoy all of them (you will also find a small restaurant on the island).
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Corralejo
The town of Corralejo—where boats depart to (and return from) the Island of Lobos—is home to some beautiful streets, which we recommend exploring. Modern, dynamic and full of life, this is one of the flagships of the north of the island—not only because of its abundant culinary and leisure options, but also because of its wide range of water activities and its lively nightlife.
9:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Restaurante Da Uli
After a quick break to recover from the final few hours of your walk, we recommend ending your holiday in Da Uli. They are experts in Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, serving delicious meals to eat in the restaurant or to take away. This means that you can spend your last few hours on the island wherever you like!
