What the experience includes
If you are traveling in Huelva, you are interested in learning about this activity of observing birds of prey, passerine birds and other types of wild animals that inhabit mountain and dehesa areas of the Andévalo region. If you've been to Extremadura you'll see many similarities in terms of landscape and fauna. One of the most surprising aspects of this almost full-time excursion in the province of Huelva is the colony of black vultures that lives in Sierra Pelada, the largest in the Andalusian community. As you head to this privileged place along the way you can see buzzards and bustards in the steppe, as well as European breeding during the winter months.
To locate the excursion area, you should know that Andévalo is located in the center and west of the Huelva province, very close to Portugal. It is a space with a very low population density and beautiful landscapes sometimes in the shape of a steppe and sometimes more undulating until reaching Sierra Pelada. In the skirts of the heads is where the groups of bustards live.
The duration of the visit in the field is estimated at about 8 or 9 hours, although it may depend on the meeting point, the number of birds seen during the activity and the interest of the members of the group.
Among the birds that can be observed are sedentary, wintering, summer and passing through. Among the sedentary ones are the black vulture and the griffon vulture, the common bustard, the common bustard, the hoopoe, the solitary rocker and the mountain cogujada, among others. With a little luck you'll also see the northern tarabilla, the musical mosquito net, the pigeon flycatcher and the gray wheatear.
