The route offers us an interesting perspective on the philosopher Ramón Llull (Mallorca 1232-1316) and Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria (1847-1915), a pioneer of tourism in Mallorca, both illustrious characters who left an intense mark on the island.
For customers with a car, our tour starts at a meeting point close to Palma, ending in the centre of Sóller. Hotel pickups, for those who do not have their own vehicle, will begin approximately 30 minutes before the start of the tour.
It lasts approximately 5 hours and includes 2 snacks of typical Mallorcan products and a delicious taste of Pa amb oli in a hundred-year-old oil mill. The route covers 70 km through the northwestern area of the island of Mallorca, and runs through the Serra de Tramuntana, an area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We will start the route to La Ermita de Valldemossa. After a short 10-minute walk we will discover a magical place where you can breathe peace. A tiny chapel, an exceptional viewpoint... Our guide will explain the place's fascinating history, while We tasted a piece of ensaimada, freshly baked.
The next stop will be at the Residence of the Archduke - 13th century. Founded by the great thinker and inventor Ramón Llull, it was first a language school, then a monastery and then the summer mansion of Archduke Luís Salvador of Austria and his illustrious guests. Get to know its Byzantine interiors and gardens full of stories, secrets and legends, and at the end of the visit nothing better than snacking on traditional Quelitas savoury cookies with cheese
Finally, we will visit a hundred-year-old oil mill in the heart of the Soller Valley. After having been received by one of its owners, we will visit the family business and discover the whole world related to olive oil production, as well as orange cultivation. We ended this magnificent tour at the oil mill, after tasting a traditional “pa amb oli” mallorquín. Rustic local bread, tomatoes, olives, cheese, ham and olive oil. For dessert, a Gató, an almond cake typical of the island. Freshly squeezed wine, water and delicious orange juice from Sóller (in season).
