Itinerary
Stop at: La Camella
La Camella is located about 2.6 kilometers east of the municipal capital, at an average altitude of 320m. From here we can warm up by riding a few kilometers on the flat until we reach the village of Valle San Lorenzo.
Stop at: Valle San Lorenzo
Valle de San Lorenzo is one of the population entities that make up the municipality of Arona, in the south of Tenerife, located about 3.5 kilometers east of the municipal capital, at an average altitude of 500m. Here we will make a first stop at the viewpoint of La Centinela. It is a stone viewpoint from which you can contemplate the wonderful views that go from San Miguel to Roque del Conde. This landscape is dotted with volcanic structures, such as the Montaña Roja Special Natural Reserve, the Montaña de Guaza Natural Monument or the Malpaís de Rasca Special Natural Reserve. It has a restaurant and cafeteria.
Stop at: San Miguel
We will pass through San Miguel de Abona, a picturesque municipality in the south of Tenerife, whose origins date back to the Menceyato de Abona. It has always been characterized as a town of contrasts, for its beauty and tranquility, with a wide variety of charming corners. There are many possibilities offered to the visitor: tasting of local products, tours through the streets of the old town, which has recently been declared of Cultural Interest, where the traveler can discover an austere, but unique historical-artistic ensemble.
Stop at: Granadilla
This will be our last stop before facing the port of the day. With 14 kms of continuous ascent and an average gradient of 6-7%, it is by far the most beautiful climb on the south side of the island, both for the landscape that we will find and for the views of the south coast.
Granadilla de Abona occupies an area of 155 km2 in the south of Tenerife. It is the third largest municipality of the island and reaches up to the mountain Guajara, with 2,718 meters of altitude. It forms the region of Chasna together with Fasnia, Arico, Vilaflor de Chasna, San Miguel de Abona and Arona. Of all these municipalities, Granadilla de Abona is the one with the most Cultural Interest Assets. It is considered that Granadilla de Abona was the last stronghold of resistance to the conquest of the Canary Islands, and that in 1519 it hosted the visit of Ferdinand Magellan's fleet on his first voyage around the world.
Stop at: Vilaflor
Vilaflor de Chasna is an eminently rural municipality located in the midlands of southern Tenerife. It has an area of 56.26 km2 at 1500 meters above sea level, which makes it one of the highest municipalities in Spain. It borders with La Orotava, Arona, Granadilla de Abona, San Miguel and Adeje. It has a high landscape value and its economy is based on the cultivation of potatoes, vines and almond trees, favored by the quality of its land and water.
Stop at: Playa de Las Américas
This will be the point and end of our route, through a 30 km descent from Vilaflor where you can enjoy the wonderful views.
Playa de las Americas is a destination where thousands of people go to enjoy a lively, colorful and vibrant vacation, famous for its 24-hour non-stop parties, it has become one of the must-visit places in Europe.
